Two videos and a website for anyone interested in protecting their health. Every mask helps. The Astounding Physics of N95 Masks youtu.be/vBJpvdZXxcs?... Why Masks Work BETTER Than You'd Think youtu.be/Y47t9qLc9I4 aatishb.com/maskmath/

Gee @mrjamesob.bsky.social I thought you were joking yesterday! You must be more careful in the future and stop giving them ideas… 🤣

BREAKING: DEFRA asks England’s biggest landowners to come up with plans to restore nature. The new National Estate for Nature is a bold move by Labour, summoning landowners who own a tenth of the country to report on their stewardship. With comment from me: www.theguardian.com/environment/...

THE GUARDIAN: Celebrities unite against £5bn disability benefit cuts, calling them a "stain on this country" as fears grow over increased poverty and food bank reliance for vulnerable communities. - by Patrick Butler

youtu.be/iJB2S-Di9kg?... Crucial watching for everyone who has a vote 👏 Perhaps some people can send this to the empaths in the government? Particularly Liz Kendall, Rachel Reeves and Keir Starmer?

@libdemlocalgov.bsky.social We are not hearing about this in Parliament. Why?

Imagine calling yourself the master race and have to resort to erasing the achievements of minorities to make yourself feel better.

Simple and powerful little video

Know your history.

"If you brought in a wealth tax of just 2% on people with assets of over £10m that would raise £24 billion a year" – @hackneyabbott.bsky.social We couldn't agree more.

£460 million a week could be raised from a wealth tax. We're in Westminster with @patmillsuk.bsky.social today calling for extreme wealth (£10m+) to be taxed more.

The news: *unending, unremitting despair and hatred* Social media: *unending, unremitting despair and hatred* Politicians: "mental illness is being overdiagnosed"

We're in London today with a big old bus to tell our Govt this country cannot afford cuts. Instead they should tax us, the super rich. A 2% wealth tax alone could raise up to £460mln a week. @Keir_starmer - invest in a fairer economy. Patriotic Millionaires say Tax Our Wealth

@teamlabouruk.bsky.social When even the Millionaires are ASKING to be taxed more, to whom should you be listening? Them or selfish neoliberals?

At the heart of every attack on disability benefits is the myth disabled people “get perks”: a free car, loads of cash, a life off work. It misrepresents the reality of disability, whilst exploiting low wages and high living costs to make the public envy people in daily pain.

5 (Realistic) Policy Suggestions: 1. Bring in a tiny 2% wealth tax (= £24bn)  2. Invest that in NHS, Schools and Rewilding 3. And avoid welfare cuts for the worst off 4. Get growth via investing in green economy (grew 10% last year) 5. End arms sales to Israel - it’s immoral.  What did I miss?

Now’s the time ….

It’s not just that it’s morally indefensible for Labour to cut more disability support than Tories ever dreamed of. It’s that we have been living in the fallout from the last round of austerity & they have learnt absolutely NOTHING. Making the poor poorer COSTS US MORE #r4today

Even the bank of England think Labour's welfare cuts are a step to far. Time to wake up, labour have been taken over by conservative dogma. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

Brilliant article. Disability can happen to anyone

📣 Our Founding Trustee @margaretohara.bsky.social: "You've got to almost admire the government, their ability to ignore #LongCovid… There isn't a carpet big enough to sweep this under, but they're trying” #ClosingClinics uk.news.yahoo.com/labour-long-...

“In 2025, long Covid is the public health crisis no one wants to talk about, taking a wrecking ball to people’s lives, the economy and NHS while those with power pretend there’s nothing to see.” 5 years on, I wrote about long Covid and national denial. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

1. Reading some of the comments beneath this week's column, I'm struck once again by how fiercely resistant many people are to understanding how our food is produced, how it reaches us and how the system works. This willed ignorance is lethal. Short🧵 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

“A rerun of Tory austerity by making poor people poorer isn't what Labour should be about. Instead, the government should explore raising extra funds from wealthy corporations and individuals”

Whilst the UK has seen an increase in the economically inactive, this is mainly due to long term sickness This follows the huge waits for treatments Investment in healthcare could add £150bn to the economy & should be the priority for @teamlabouruk.bsky.social www.bcg.com/united-kingd...

For years, folks looked the other way as millions died or became disabled by Covid. They shouted “your health is not my responsibility” or “only the vulnerable” were at risk. This callous disregard for human life has desensitized us. It helped pave the way for the current atrocities.

As Honest Bob Jenrick tours the country repeating far-right conspiracy talking points about “two-tier sentencing”, here is the letter his own government sent to the Sentencing Council last year approving the very Guidelines he now claims are evidence of “two-tier Keir”. The man is a fraud.

If only there was some way of knowing why Musk is pushing for elections and “regime change” in Ukraine… but not Russia..

Denmark is better than the USA in every way.

A Tributum was a tax imposed on Roman citizens to fund the costs of war. The Tributum was set at a higher rate if you were rich - a wealth tax imposed on assets, land, property and moveable goods. Not cuts to the poor. We have learned nothing in 2000 years. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Why not just introduce a £2 million limit? It's simple: you get taxed at 100% if you've got more than £2 million, and we redistribute it where it's needed. You still have £2 million. And we solve poverty without needing a 2 child limit.
