The question is no longer if EVs are going to dominate the future. That’s fairly obvious. The question is now if the US is going to have any role in that market. Right now, it’s not looking promising. heatmap.news/electric-veh...

Duke Energy Indiana's 2024 IRP assumed a new CCGT would cost $1,100-$1,250 per kW. (image below from www.duke-energy.com/-/media/pdfs...) At the same time they're building a 1.5 GW combined cycle plant at over $2,200 per kW: www.therepublic.com/2025/02/17/d...

Some updates on our client: @immdef.bsky.social went to his imm court hearing Monday and received confirmation from ICE that he has been “removed” to El Salvador. The Judge asked “how has he been removed if there is no removal order?” And the ICE attorney responded that they did not know.

The good news is that there *are* people meeting the moment. youtu.be/EJxRtjma7lc

“Around 8PM that day, he was approached by a group of individuals wearing face coverings who identified themselves as DHS agents, according to court filings. The agents, who detained him near his home in Arlington, Virginia, informed him that the U.S. government had revoked his J-1 visa…” /1

Step up, stand up, speak out.   This moment is hard — I don't dispute that, but this isn't the time to be afraid. Make your voice heard, whether it’s at a town hall or on the phone, so Donald Trump and Republicans know how sick and tired you are of them cutting your services.

Gee where did the $1 billion go

⚡️FIGHT THE OLIGARCHY RALLY ⚡️ STARTING TOMORROW. Nevada. Arizona. Colorado. You, me, and Bernie. Dem and GOP districts. ❤️💙 See you there 💪🏽🌞

There is no plan for "going into the future" other than clock hands sweeping. Giving my money to grassroots groups and local elections, not the democratic party. To win.

SCOOP: Hooded ICE agents snatched Indian-born Georgetown postdoc Badar Suri from Rosslyn street Monday, per court filing. Like Khalil, linked to pro-Palestinian views & Rubio 'foreign policy' power, lawyer says. Then whisked to Louisiana. w/ @kyledcheney www.politico.com/news/2025/03...

We are deep in a war on activism and political speech www.nytimes.com/2025/03/19/c...

Mayor Karen Bass is promising a "fundamental change" in how LA operates, according to a letter to city officials today. "The need for structural sweeping reform of the City’s budget and operations has only intensified and changing the status quo is at the heart of my office’s work"

The administration gets bolder each time a strong institution bends the knee. We saw it in media: The LA Times pulls an endorsement. ABC offers a $15m settlement. The WaPo kills op-eds. Now, higher education: WSJ reports that Columbia is caving. Minutes later, White House puts $175m hit on Penn.

So on March 9, a French scientist, on a visa to attend a conference in Houston, was denied entry to the US and subsequently expelled because his phone had messages decrying scientific policies put forward by the Trump administration: www.lemonde.fr/internationa...

Horrifying: After the contract tracking Ukrainian children abducted by Russia was terminated, the underlying evidence of these potential war crimes seems to be missing, a bipartisan group of Reps just charged in letter to Rubio. Two GOPers signed. Details here: newrepublic.com/article/1929...

It took an hour after the call with Trump for Putin to bomb a hospital.

This is, quite literally, how democracies die www.nytimes.com/2025/03/19/u...

This sure beats a podcast.

Folks, I'm hitting the road this week and traveling across Illinois to see how Donald Trump’s cuts are hurting our farmers, families, and so many more in our state. It's time the President heard straight from the source what he's doing to Illinoisans.

“The reality became clear: Ice detention isn’t just a bureaucratic nightmare. It’s a business. These facilities are privately owned and run for profit.” Solidarity in the cells, profits on the balance sheets.

This filing is, in my humble opinion, Rule 11 sanctionable.

"The left" sure is powerful in people's minds despite having precisely zero actual power over the current U.S. government or any of its governments in my lifetime.

If Vladimir Putin had a plan to foul our air and water, wreck public health and drive America over the cliff of irreversible lethal climate change, it would look exactly like Lee Zeldin’s plan. This is a plan for self-inflicted environmental disaster. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

This Tesla vs. BYD chart isn’t just two stocks moving up and down. It’s an entire superpower pulling away from another, explains @liamdenning.bsky.social 🎥

When you read this it becomes apparent that Elon Musk is a showman, nothing more. He's not an engineer. The whole thing is an act.

One close Trump adviser simply says that the president’s ultimate leverage against certain judges who try to stand in the way of his agenda is that the judiciary does not command an army, while the president of the United States does.

Based on this fast and excellent WaPo reporting, these four guys are not gang members, just Venezuelan dads who came to the US to work. They’re now being paraded in shackles in El Salvador www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.

he’s siphoned off hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars but yes, my mom is the vampire with her $1300/month social security check that she earned by working two retail jobs for most of her life

enacting fascism because you're afraid of an imaginary computer is the most Loser shit ever conceived. did you know you can go ride bikes or something

One of the most disgusting historical analogies I’ve ever seen. Yalta didn’t include the aggressor and it didn’t exclude the US’s longtime ally in the war.

“The Trump administration has canceled funding for an ongoing 30-year, nationwide study tracking patients with prediabetes and diabetes, researchers said, at a time when top officials have emphasized their determination to curb the incidence of such chronic conditions.”

This whole campaign is disgraceful. This administration which is riddled with actual antisemites is using antisemitism as a stalking horse for its campaign against all universities. A kind of elaborate and hideous gaslighting.

Holy shit. I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say they’re trying to kill us all. “The Environmental Protection Agency plans to eliminate its scientific research arm, firing as many as 1,155 chemists, biologists, toxicologists and other scientists”

Hi, I'm the guy who used to oversee the federal government's agency IT telecommunications contracts. This is extremely bad. There is absolutely no need for this. Not only is it a huge security exposure, but the simplest explanation for this is that it is meant to be a security exposure.

A US-born citizen was walking near Chicago in January. ICE snatched him off the street, handcuffed him, threw into a van. His wallet, which contained his ID, was confiscated. He was detained for 10 hours before being released without a record of what occurred. immigrantjustice.org/sites/defaul...

On 16th March, 1968 Warrant Officer Hugh Thompson Jnr was flying helicopter recon for a US attack on My Lai, an alleged Viet Cong-controlled village in Vietnam. But as the attack developed below, Thompson realised he was witnessing something something else: A massacre. He decided to act. 1/28

Just received notice that my 2018 op-ed for the USAWC's War Room, "Less War, More College," was being purged from Army website as per the #DEI guidance from #DOD secretary #hegseth. It discussed the value of diverse perspectives and people in the USAWC classroom.

One of the “gang members” that was disappeared and deported is a queer tattoo artist

So it appears DOGE has decreed that Social Security administration will no longer provide phone support. At all. This is in addition to shutting down a ton of local SSA offices. www.axios.com/2025/03/17/s...
