This came up at a conference I was at on Friday, and I was curious if other think about this similarly. I view keeping to my assigned time in presentations as an embodiment of my feminist values at work. There is a set amount of total time and going over takes time away from ~someone~ else.

At the American Shakespeare Center’s Blackfriars Conference, if you run over your time, you are literally forced to exit, pursued by a bear. The bear can and will take your paper from you to shut you up.

Won't someone think of the poor feefees of the people who are trying to eradicate us from existence! No. No, I will not.

Eight ways for men to alleviate women’s gender-based fear With gender-based fear and violence on the rise, here's what men can do to make women feel safer in public | Gemma Gould @gemmagould.bsky.social

Actually no, at no point did any doctor or nurse agree to have the state/their employer "audit" personal electronic devices Being a healthcare professional does not abrogate the ECHR Article 8 right to privacy

Men do not "help", they also do not babysit. They adult appropriately plus they partner and/or co-parent. Anything else is unacceptable. If there's a baby in the house and he's not the birthing parent then he does most of the chores, not half of them, thats 50:50.

Will happily take a work-provided smart phone with the same capabilities as my personal one which currently offsets a huge amount of inadequate IT... This is a systems issue that needs a solution. That solution needs to make it easy not to need to use a personal device (as well as appropriate IG)

This, fundamentally, is the problem with billionaires. It's not just how much money they have, but the fact that any one person having that kind of money constitutes a form of unaccountable power where they can just buy shit to silence voices they don't like.

We’ve had viable solutions for mobility both within & between cities for a long time, like high-speed rail, prioritized public transit and networks of protected bike-lanes. We need leadership. And we need to stop letting “shiny new tech” distract us from implementing them. Image via UrbanThoughts11

On prices, and why inflation figures aren't capturing public concern adequately. www.ft.com/content/fb32...

Those accusing the ICC of being “political” do not fully understand the law. Post WWII, we in “the West” stipulated a set of shared rules that we believed applied to everyone - enemies, allies and ourselves. If an ally breaches those rules, the rules have not suddenly become “political” overnight.

Yes yes and yes! We are beholden to an outdated and archaic system that prevents real change. We need PR! We need PR! Repost if you agree!

I hadn't realised the LGBA had done this. Absolute snakes. Quite right, Jimmy.

A great paradox of working in Infectious and Microbiology is that we beg for new antimicrobials - but as soon as they arrive the first thing we do is to tell everyone NOT to use them. You can see why this deters pharma from investing in them.

“One thing I find interesting about the echo chamber complaint is that an echo chamber just won a presidential election” @aoc.bsky.social

If you can go to @aslefunion.bsky.social Bluesky and show some support for this campaign it's unbelievable the way their members are being treated with their basic dignity being disregarded at work. As a Nurse I'm horrified! ✊

Literally what Starmer has left her in place for. They could have appointed an interim chair as her contract was up. Instead, they've protected a bigot in her post for 12 months, hoping she does the dirty work so they don't have to Whatever Faulkner does now is as a LABOUR appointment, not a Tory

The EHRC is describing itself as “Impartial” in this case going to the Supreme Court, a case that trans people have been locked out of (once again like Bell). Surely this is perjury. www.equalityhumanrights.com/media-centre...

Mindboggling - our new PM looks at the country after 40 years of failed privatisation 💧💡🚌🚄🏥📮 14 years of austerity And decides BlackRock will put money in people's pockets? They manage assets so THEY profit Don't beg them for new PFI deals! Why can't we own our own assets?

Just horrible, that this government hasn’t simply scrapped the *entirety* of the sanctions regime, that has repeatedly been shown to make it *less* likely that people return to work, let alone the devastating effects mentioned in Liam’s report www.theguardian.com/society/2023...

Dear Wes Streeting, When NHS services are privatised, what is the benefit to patients and their communities? Surely it must mean safer care and a better deal for the taxpayer, right? I’m sure you won’t mind sharing your evidence. Week 6 of asking. #SOSNHS

Some people got very pissy with me for saying that their Harry Potter addictions were directly funding transphobia but my point still stands: if you're still spending money on this crap, it is going towards hate & you need to deal with that. www.pajiba.com/politics/you...

Seriously, stop giving this woman your money.

This is horrifying. Also, their application to the court doesn't even make sense! When a baby is born the team assisting the birth "assign" a binary sex for birth cert purposes based upon the (incomplete) information available to them, they don't "record" a permanent judgement in tablets of stone?!

On the 27th of November the neo fascist hate group For Women Scotland are attempting to remove the human rights of trans people in the UK at a Supreme Court appeal to update the legal definition of Women in the Equality Act to be sexed based. I've fought this group for years. Funded by JK Rowling.

“Two years ago, Elon Musk bought Twitter. I personally didn’t have a problem with that, because I’m a common sense centrist who nevertheless only writes about how much I agree with reactionary ideas.” Pitch-perfect satire.

no but seriously this is so hard to do, did it recently and got some support and help and turns out basically everyone is feeling/has felt the same vocalise 👏 your 👏 work 👏 struggles 👏

It astonishes me how often people who presumably think of themselves as being on the centre left, don’t want to grasp this central point about the impact of Britain’s low benefit levels, on workers & bosses respective bargaining power (all this earned me was an unfollow, fair enough, but also 🤣)

Many infectious diseases are so rare today that it is easy to forget how very common they were before the introduction of vaccines. My chart presents an overview of the change in the US.

I couldn’t believe this tweet was real. I had to go to X to check. Incredibly, it is real. Has the PM *no* awareness of the reputation of BlackRock?

Both in the news today for differing reasons. Michael Sheen who remortgaged his house to fund the Homeless World Cup, Jeremy Clarkson who bought a farm to evade tax.

Today, on Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honour the transgender lives lost to violence. It’s alarming that rhetoric that fuels transphobia is still rife within our society and politics. The Green Party fully stands by transgender people and supports their rights.

My admiration for this woman knows no bounds

Narrator voice: “Little did he know…”

The UK realm of medicine and healhcare has been infiltrated by far right anti-trans zealots. They are spreading malicious information and falsehoods in order to purposefully undermine and harm trans people. transsafety.network/posts/rights...
