Maryland confirms measles case; Dulles Airport travelers may have been exposed www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...

What’s with some lefty people talking like “I guess the fascists in Moscow & Washington are bad or whatever idk ig, but what REALLY makes me mad is [mainstream centre right party] and Ursula von der Leyen!”. What is this? Often incredibly unclear to me these people recognise or fear actual fascism.

Exciting to watch Elon Musk pivot so elegantly from making his cars toxic to the demographic most likely to consider one, to making his Starlink a national security risk for all the governments who might have wanted it.

1/ Why has Donald Trump been demanding that Ukraine pay the US $500 billion, and how is this likely to be a demonstration of the principle of Trump's Razor?

Autocracy is one thing, but denying quantum mechanics? Administration doesn’t want anyone talking about Bell’s inequality.

Imagine if the most prominent member of the Biden administration had reposted, in agreement, someone calling a prominent GOP senator a ‘retard’. Would have been the end of the world, biggest scandal ever. The asymmetry in American politics continues to grow. Just wild to see.

This is a difficult time for my tankies. They have to pretend that they don't agree with Trump who says the same things they do.

Two rules to bear in mind during the coming four years: 1️⃣ It's always worse behind the scenes than you know, or can even imagine. 2️⃣ The stupidest possible explanation is the most likely to be correct (AKA Trump's Razor).

This is what happens when someone appeases barbarians. More bombs, more aggression, more victims. Another tragic night in Ukraine.

You've no doubt heard that the Great Library of Alexandria was destroyed in a fire and with it, centuries of knowledge, learning & prose. But that's not the ACTUAL story. The TRUE story of the destruction of the Great Library of Alexandria has more to teach us than the myth.

Don't compare Trump to Neville Chamberlain. Chamberlain did not personally like the dictator he dealt with. Chamberlain did not staff his ministry with pro-dictator enthusiasts. Chamberlain was not helped into office in the first place by that dictator. From Churchill's eulogy:

Disarming the defender, does nothing to compel a long lasting peace. It just enables the attacker with a deadly betrayal for those defending their home from an invasion that arrived in their back yard, after assurances from America this very thing wouldn't happen.

Silicon Valley will never be the same. It's forever lost any remaining reputation that it's trying to make the world a better place for all. Instead, we now know that's infested with right wing nutjobs, and the Valley is only looking out for itself.

Isn't it incredible that for decades the far-left European Stasi fanclub, from Varoufakis to Melenchon to Corbyn to die Linke, insisted that all our defence policies were just "American Imperialism" and now that the Americans are leaving these scumbags just openly advocate we submit to Russia.

Providing intelligence to Ukraine does not cost American taxpayers a single cent. The lack of U.S. intelligence makes it harder for air defense to protect Ukrainian cities. Yesterday, because of this, people already lost their lives. Many were injured, including two children.

Prediction: not one of the self-styled “peace advocates” who so loudly proclaim that they care more than anyone about Ukrainian lives will say word about the 11 strategic bombers, the armada of drones, or the ships carrying Kalibr cruise missiles coming to end Ukrainian lives /1

Russian planes have taken off, likely heading to bomb Ukraine. With U.S. intelligence deciding not to share their data, the effectiveness of our air defenses remains uncertain—especially for us civilians. Another sleepless night looms. Please, keep us in your thoughts.

This is purporting to punish not only a law firm that took clients and cases Trump didn’t like, but anyone doing business with them. Just undisguised gangsterism.

DOGE should investigate that crazy company that has repeatedly failed to deliver advances on the lunar module—despite receiving $6 billions in government funding—and has left rocket debris scattered across multiple states. It would be the first real case of waste.

Cowards

BREAKING: The University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University has reneged on their commitment to host the @sciencewriters.org annual conference and withdrew their entire financial support. The National Association of Science Writers is now looking for a new venue, sponsors, and partners.

Pathetic

The problem with Democratic Party is that no one takes them seriously because they don’t take themselves seriously. You can’t simultaneously argue Trump is a fascist intent on destroying democracy but your major response is to wear a pink suit to a speech, and expect to be taken seriously.

"several federal judges in the Washington D.C. area had received pizzas sent anonymously to their homes, which is being interpreted by law enforcement as a form of intimidation meant to convey that a target’s address is known." www.reuters.com/world/us/jud...

They weren’t upset by virtue signaling so much as just plain virtue.

Die Linke keeps opposing defence, complaining about Ukraine, and demanding Europe surrender and become a servile colony of a fascist Russia. I despise them. A disgusting little Stasi fanclub. We would have been so much better off if we had jailed all the communists in 1989 instead of forgiving them.

1/ Although hundreds of Russian soldiers are missing – presumed dead – in fighting for a small village near Vovchansk in Ukraine, their salaries are still being paid out to unknown parties. Their relatives suspect that their commanders are stealing en masse from the dead. ⬇️

French Senator Claude Malhuret: "Washington has become Nero’s court, with an incendiary emperor, submissive courtiers and a jester high on ketamine... We were at war with a dictator, we are now at war with a dictator backed by a traitor."

America does not need a ‘resistance,’ or stale slogans, or people putting those slogans on little paddles. It needs an opposition party that boldly defends the nation’s virtues, the rule of law, and the rights of its people. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

This "historical precedent" seems superficial. For the Korean war, the US was employing about 350 billion dollars per year (adjusted for inflation), had 130,000 casualties, and was pushing for armistice with the presence of US troops (that are still there!).

(1/3) It needs repeating: in 1994, Ukraine was persuaded to give up its nuclear weapons to Russia in return for the US, the UK, and Russia guaranteeing Ukraine’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

Trumpster most likely movement after being proven wrong is to come up with another justification for Trump's deranged actions. It's not like Trump's tariffs are his first stupid action...
