My 2024 goal was to read 12 books- one a month. I almost doubled it 🥹 These were my reads of the year (ACOSF is currently on loan so she is sadly not pictured 😌) #BookSky 💙📚

I'm calling it. Books are clearly not obsolete.

I don't think I want a new year this time around, I want a gently used year like a 2015 or maybe a 1998 if it's in good shape idk

I’ve needed an escape and so have been turning to fiction, and y’all, I haven’t read in so long a book as exhilarating and beautifully humane as Barbara Kingsolver’s “Demon Copperhead.” I turned the last page and yet can’t get the characters and the writing out of my head. Do yourselves a favor.

Are you ready for your daily dose of nostalgia? Where are all my Millennials? #bookcommunity #booksky #books #90s #1990s #nostalgia If you remember Little Critter books and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, comment below! What else was your favorite 90s book? goodbookpick.com/30-kids-book...

Known for his intricate magic systems, jaw-dropping plot twists, and characters you’d gladly follow into battle, Sanderson has become nothing short of a modern legend in the fantasy genre. What are your favorites? 📚 #bookcommunity #booksky #books #reading #fantasy goodbookpick.com/a-guide-to-t...

Writing is an act of rebellion. Writing is an act of creation. Writing is an act of salvation. Writing is an act of exploration. Writing is an act of emotion. Writing is an act of confession. Writing is an act of speculation. Writing is an act of reflection. Keep writing.

Watching Dune Part Two. You can tell they re-used some of the same dunes

What a turnaround for typos and grammatical mistakes. After years of being irritants, they are now quaint and charming evidence that the text was written by a human being.

Since we’re talking about how much billionaires suck again, here’s a reminder that your local indie bookstore deserves your business this holiday season. They have gift cards and are happy to mail stuff out. Same goes for @bookshop-org.bsky.social. Buy books. Give books. Support bookstores.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but you don't have "too many books".

Sometimes I have trouble remembering things because my brain won’t do what I want it to do, and sometimes I have trouble remembering things because I refused to write it down because I didn’t like the kind of pen that was available and that’s a pretty accurate snapshot of how I roll

This holiday season, take a moment to visit your local bookstore. It’s about more than finding a great book—it’s about supporting the small businesses that keep our communities thriving.

If you’re looking holiday gift ideas, here are some books I loved this year: Percival Everett’s James, Jamie Quatro’s Two-Step Devil, Rumaan Alan’s Entitlement, Dinaw Mengestu’s Someone Like Us, Danzy Senna’s Colored Television. Bonus: new titles I’m looking forward to reading in 2025!

I don't trust anyone who doesn't have a preferred burner on the stove.

Last night we went Christmas shopping at a Night Market in Culver City. They had great, unique gifts (including a young woman with a typewriter who wrote custom poems for $10). It felt so good spending our money on local artists who are just happy for the business and don’t want to control the world

In Iceland, on Christmas Eve, people give each other books so they can spend the evening drinking cocoa & reading. It’s called, Jolabokaflod, the Christmas book flood. I’ve never been more in love with Iceland than I am right now ♥️♥️

Anyone who refers to the 90s as anything other than ten years ago is not to be trusted. Don’t let them fool you with their “new math,” we’re all still fresh out of school and just trying to figure it all out man

Trying to figure out the logistics of opening up a bookstore/cafe/flower shop/ceramics studio/crêperie/kitten rescue/food truck/wine bar/yarn depot/ boardgame outlet/bakery/thrift store/ puppy daycare. Who wants a piece of this sure thing?

Book titles that sound like song titles, I made this up, dontcha think they do? (heart shaped box is my fav by Nirvana and may of inspired this) Proper indie melancholy smith's vibes songs 😂 My Heart is a Chainsaw could also be a My Chemical Romance song 🤩

Heartbreak? Ya, I’ve experienced it* *finished a long book series knowing this is the last I will ever read of the characters

Yaaaayyy!! Bluesky just hit 25 MILLION users!! 🎉 🥳 🎊 bsky-users.theo.io

One good thing about self-checkout is it never asks me what kind of party I'm having when I ring up $115 worth of cheese I’ve just bought for myself. If you must know, I'm having an “I'm an adult and nobody can tell me how much cheese I can buy for myself" party and it's gonna be totally awesome

Imagine matching the tea to the book you're reading!?

I have 214.6K followers, and I figure at least some of them are looking to gift books this holiday season, so: HEY AUTHORS OF BLUESKY: In the comments to this post, tell us (briefly!) about your most recent book, and put in a link to where people can learn more and/or buy the book in question. Go!

It's simple really. The more books you read, the greater the chance a magic portal will open in one and transport you into that realm. Don't give up trying.

A Christmas Carol is one of my favourites and I love my annual read tradition. This year was so much fun buddy reading it with a lovely group of #bookstagram ladies too! ♡ Have you read it? Or seen a movie version? 🎄 www.instagram.com/share/BADZIf...

Write that thing. Pluck it outta your soul with rusty pliers. Hit the keyboard like it owes you money. Write whenever, wherever you can. Tell your story. Make the words dance. Whatever you want—a novel, a short story, an agent, a movie—it all starts with the writing.

What do I want for Christmas? A mysterious manor in the Scottish countryside, a vast expanse of land, a library of vintage novels, a collection of the world’s rarest wines, an owl to deliver and retrieve my post, and my own personal pastry chef. I'm really not that hard to shop for.

All I want is a cottage in the countryside, a newly-fallen snow, a crackling fire, a riveting novel, a kettle on the stove, and a healthy amount of freshly-baked scones.

Me: I will just relax for a few minutes by playing a mindless game on my phone Phone: Cool, every 90 seconds you will just need to watch a little animated snuff film featuring a mother and child freezing to death, or a king slowly being crushed against a spiky wall by piles of falling rubble

Nobody prepared me for how often I would hear myself say “What’s today, Wednesday?” over the course of my adulthood

Just discovered a hole in the inside pocket of my work bag. Inside the lining of my bag have just found 5 lip balms, 3 really good pens, 2 sets of house keys, an AirPod case and every hair band everyone has ever mislaid. Like a very mundane, non-bird-based 12 days of Christmas

The perfect refuge from the chaos of the world? A library or bookstore—where silence reigns, stories thrive, and morons dare not tread.

Dear people who don’t use the Oxford comma: It’s never too late to do the right thing. Everyone makes mistakes, and we shouldn’t be judged solely by our pasts. What matters is the here and now. So come over to the right side of history for a fresh, new, and beautiful beginning.

THIS is my Sentiment

Here are my book recommendations for the new year: Read the books you already bought.

My Christmas list this year: - rolling library ladder - home library for rolling library ladder - home for home library for rolling library ladder

Never give up hope that, one day, you will pull a book from a bookshelf and that secret door will finally open for you.
