Or, look to the same places we have always looked: the experts. They just aren't in government anymore. We also have to ignore those telling us not to turn to experts. They are the same ones falling for the misinformation and getting these people in office.

We've known since the 80's and 90's what kind of man he was. Everything we see with him today is nothing new.

Apparently, so did most of America. We could use a really good revolutionary leader right now.

Yes. We can do a lot of finger pointing, but in the end, we put Don where he is. People either voted him in or they didn't vote at all. He only won the popular vote by a few million more than Kamala, which really isn't much. The people are getting what they want.

The problem is, a large chunk of the population supports what is happening. So, if you're asking for people to rally, they also have to be willing to fight because that is what will happen. We may value the future of this country, but not everyone does.

All of these things are awful, but ask them to protect children from gun violence and there is nothing they can do.

It's going to take a long time to repair the damage being done, but we need to remember to fight against what is happening and to ensure it never gets to the point where replicate other dictatorial regimes. Germany let it happen willingly. We cannot.

I had no idea you voiced for the movie. That's cool! Love the film. One of my favorites of 2024.

This is what's going to happen and it's going to be especially bad in places where cops profile and are openly racist. Future Joe Arpaios are going to take advantage and we'll see lots of suspected "illegal" immigrants being detained. We've really gone back several decades.

Yep. Can't believe we have to deal with Doofus Don for the next four years.

I do not understand how 1/3 of America could not vote during such a vital election. I am so sick of this stupid attitude that it doesn't matter who won. Yes it did. Kamala and Don are not the same and Don was the wrong choice.

They're an easy scapegoat to avoid the real issue, which are those elite few who pretty much make every single decision or influence every decision that actually matters. They've convinced everyone they deserve all that they have at the expense of everyone else.

MAGA is one giant party of hate and giving each other a pat on the back. If they're not trying to denigrate other people who don't align with them, they are trying to expand the power of their cult. The next four years will be an assault on the American people.

If I'm lucky, I'll be so busy that day, I'll forget it's happening. Or Don will keel over from a heart attack. But we'd probably never get that lucky.

As usual, the plan is to push responsibility on someone else, then pretend like they're the victims instead of taking responsibility like adults.

I don't think it's what the Dems wanted to do, but at this point, what choice is there? Every effort against Don only seemed to make him stronger. Despite everything, he still go re-elected by a voter majority. That demonstrates a sickness with the American people more than anything.

Sadly, Canada may very well be headed in the direction we are. This is only based on what I've been hearing though. I hope it's not true and Canada doesn't make the mistakes the US has made.

and it showed the country's true colors. We need to fix that. We need values that reflect a society that is united, peaceful, and wants to make it a country for ALL people. We need to teach our children this and we need to repair the soul of this country, instead of handing it off to hatemongers.

All great an well, but Don won. We can argue about cheating, about missing votes, about all the theories we think happened. Millions didn't show up for Harris, but they did show up Don. We have something broken more than our government and that is our culture. The American people did this...

I think there should have been a better jab in there, something about not resorting to violence and asking voters not to march on the Capitol. We're not going to have many more chances to make effective jabs against Don.

I get it though. We could do this back and forth forever, but what good would it do? Have we seen evidence that any amount of investigation or stubbornness would amount to anything? We've tried for 8 years to nail Don and it amounted to him being POTUS again. Dems can use their energy better.

a chance. Certainly, they'd want to wage an optics war, but I think they see themselves as heroes who could overcome their "oppressors" victoriously.

I think the end goal is to radically change the country to the degree they want it to. I think a portion of them actually think they'd win in the same way our forefathers won against the British. I expect they believe they'd also turn enough people in high positions, like the military, to stand...

The frightening thing about this is that it will come to a head at some point. We like to joke around about these guys taking on the government and losing, a man and his rifle vs. drones and tanks, but I find it very concerning. Even if that's the case, before that, serious damage will be done.

What horrible timing. We could really use more people like him in this country right now. I hope you're in a great place President Carter.

None of this would be happening if they didn't feel invincible. If people were able to put the fear of God in them, they'd be much more cautious about what they do.

I don't think we've learned a truly valuable lesson in the necessity of social responsibility and we're too young to have developed a history geared towards being more socially responsible. Maybe soon we'll learn how necessary it truly is.

A better me. I am fully self-focused. The last 8 years have been spent absorbed in everything that's happened and I fear if I spend the next four years like I've spent the last 8, I will have a heart attack from everything. I'm pretty sure all my nerves are completely shot.

Yes, they're all just lazy. Nothing bad ever happens to anyone and life is just perfect that things can just work out how everyone wants them to. I sincerely hope you're never put into a situation where you no longer are able to care for the animals you love so much, like a severe injury.

Again, you're making a lot of assumptions AND being pretty thick about this. I am so glad you're life has been so wonderful nothing has ever happened to you where you've had to deal with this kind of thing. That's so wonderful. You must be very lucky.

Circumstances change. Rents do get jacked up incredibly high. And plenty of places don't allow pets or charge for them. Plenty of low income people have pets. People also have things come up, like having family they have to suddenly go take care of. Things come up. The world isn't perfect.
comment in response to

An assumption. Maybe the rent has increased to unaffordability. Maybe they're sick and can no longer afford to live on their own/take care of their pet. Maybe they're moving in with family and they can't have their pets there. There could be any number of reasons.

Do you mean to say that people will never ever have a reason to move from their dwelling?

Sounds privileged from someone who hasn't had to struggle to find a place they can afford that also allows pets.

You would expect news outlets to call out the hypocrisy of someone who touted not being a war POTUS remarking that they want to go to war to expand US territory, which is what he'd essentially have to do with other sovereign nations to expand US territory.

It's a desperate need to have everything revolve around them. The desperation by some for this to be an oppressive Christian nation by some is pretty pathetic.

They don't think it's hate though. They've deluded themselves into thinking that the people they target are a harm to society and "decent" people, so it's something like a service to the everyone. That's why it's very hard to argue with them and bring some sense to their brain.

Had no idea and not surprised. I am so glad that no one denigrated themselves with that despicable act.

Conservatives need to grow a spine. Happy Holidays is such a neutral, harmless thing. I've resorted to people who tell me Merry Christmas to reply with Happy Hanukkah, something with which they should have no problem.
