The Mountain Goats: Come for the music, stay for the recipes and GD show recs. The homemade version of hamburger helper was a huge hit with the kids last week.

My kids make fun of me because there are dudes I've been friends with for over a decade who I still don't have a contact created on my phone. It's just a number.

We say "whipping a shitty" instead of "making a U-Turn." I picked it up years ago from someone who claims it is a phrase used in your Twin Cities part of the world, but I've never verified this. I have never heard it used outside of my own household since.

I broke my rule, "if you think you may need a bigger dish, then use a bigger dish." Oven is in self-cleaning mode now. But the family liked it better than the boxed stuff, so mission accomplished.

Hey thanks, I had never made scalloped potatoes before. The recipe came out well despite my execution mistakes.

What recipe are you using for the scalloped potatoes?

That game and SSX Tricky are the two reasons I'm hoping my wife understands how much I'd like a GCHD for Christmas

Eat them hot, while the chocolate is still melty. Any that get cooled off are for the kids.

Happy to see the work Aftermath is doing. I supported myself with some games writing back in college. A review of Kiss Psycho Circus on Dreamcast for $80 was my breaking point. The math on how long it would take me to play it through, then write about it...nope.

I've been wanting to try the game for years. It fell in that weird two year gap when I a.) discovered an interest in the opposite sex, and b.) had not yet understood that girls and video games were not mutually exclusive.

At a conference once I got to meet the guy responsible for bringing Tetris to America, and the Olsen twins.

If my kids found that section of the library, it would be all over. Our household would descend into anarchy.

In my mind, there's a cardboard sign on the door with "DA GOATS" hand-painted in black.

It really scratches the same itch as Left 4 Dead in this regard. I love timebox games where I won't accidentally play all night.

I've specifically avoided that Ben Shapiro video because I'm terrified of my YT algorithm taking my recs down that path.

Thank you so much for this...I love to cook for the family and want to move our diet in this direction, but was getting mentally blocked on finding quality, worthwhile recipes. Lots of vegetarian stuff I've found still leaves me hungry.

Ok! Well I agree that I wholeheartedly support the inclusion of any and all "Easy Mode" modification. I do not believe, though, that game design or accessibility requires this to be represented via a slider or menu checkbox, as long as it is not locked behind significant skill gates.

If Dying in the game creates frustration/anxiety on its own merits, it just might not be the right game for someone. At least in the same way that Bethesda games, where buggy or looping To-Do list items cause my brain to freak out for reasons, aren't for me.

You can beat enemies with distance combat. You can sneak through them. You can summon a helper and sit back and watch. You'll still die often but you can make it through every choke point in the game that way.

There is not a "No Death" option. Dying in the game is frequent, happens to everyone all the time, and is honestly kind of a joke. The consequences of death are minimal, smaller than past games in the series. There are very few boss runbacks, and the runes you lose only feel important. They aren't.

Ok I'll agree with it. Like I said, I won't piss and moan if sliders are implemented. That said, I mostly don't understand what anybody wants from the game that isn't already available.

I have more resistance to the argument that "FS is bad because they won't accomodate my needs specifically in the exact way I wish them to be accomodated, and anybody who disagrees hates disabled people."
comment in response to post
I do not have an intense resistance. If they put sliders on tomorrow, I would not care. From a game design standpoint, though, I think it is interesting how they implemented those mechanics into the game as gameplay, rather than an options slider.
