The Jewish problem that has bedeviled Germany for 10 years can finally be solved! The Bureaucracy is overjoyed as they will have one less problem to deal with.
When folks look at Trump, they focus on his words, not the implications of policies being implemented by Bureaucrats.
That's the danger.

With the failure at Stalingrad, the problem of what to do with Jews under management became acute.
Heydrich shows up with a solution. When Eichmann runs the numbers, it's like any meeting where a brilliant solution to an intractable problem is presented.
All other options are dropped.

The book provides the missing link between the holocaust and that meeting. From 1933-1939, Bureaucrats tried to solve the Jewish Problem through isolation.
From 1939-41, they engaged in random mass violence at the war front.
In 1941, things changed as the government suddenly had a lot more Jews.

Everyone in the room had debated the Final Solution for some time. And what happened was that Heydrich showed up with a solution, and more importantly the authority to pull it off.
If you watch the Wannsee movie Conspiracy, it's really a business meeting.

The reason I liked Koontz's book is it explains the bureaucratic process that produced the Wannsee Conference.
In effect, there was a crisis, and a faction in the bureaucracy had a radical and extreme plan that they were able to get other bureaucrats to agree to.

Would love to read it!
Part of me wonders if the USA is reverting to type, where some people have more universal rights than others. And where entrenched powerful interests dominate the political environment.
In other words, is this any different than the USA pre Teddy Roosevelt?

Have you read the book "The Nazi Conscience"? I would love to hear your take on it.
It explains how Germany went from being the safest place to be a Jew in Europe in 1930, to the least safe in 1939.

When I look at how few local elections are contested nationally, I wonder do you think we already were in an authoritarian system and that this is just the logical conclusion?

Danger in a game is a lot more complicated than death.
In fact death is the least dangerous thing
What Baldur’s gate demonstrates is that danger is not just dying it’s also losing your friends, your dreams or your soul or your most precious dreams

It's 16 games. One of these teams is going to get hot. The other two will play to their level, and one will implode.
Here's hoping the habs are the team that stays hot.

The short version is that the Democrats hoped that the GOP caucus would break into the House or that the GOP Senators would have a spine.
Neither happened.
The gambit of not voting for the CR was to force a better CR. But that required the GOP not to be as united.

Watching the game, I see that the first line and Hutson are elite-level talents. The rest of the team is missing key players, and it shows.
The play of the first line and Hutson has kept them afloat. Can it keep them afloat til the end?

Are we in the MIX? the CONVERSATION? If we win - we are in the PLAYOFFS?

Dang, when the Habs score, you see a great team. There is something astonishing about how good the first line and Hutson are.
The rest of the team is missing key players. And still, they hang on.

I am reminded of the old Jewish joke - "why are Jews so pessimistic? Because the optimists are buried in Poland."

Trump to GOP - "You are weak."
GOP - "Yes, master, we are weak. We will lick your anus every single day of the week."
Trump - "FINALLY, SOMEONE IS LISTENING TO ME!"

Do you also know that we fought in every war? And that our favorite sport has this thing: if you disrespect someone or are disrespected, you're expected to throw punches at them, and your teammates cheer?"

Trump to Europe - "You guys are weak."
Europeans: "You know, we had this going for a while. It was called Wars, Conquest, and Imperialism, and we decided to give it a break. It seems like we'll have to return to our traditional way of operating."

We survived Stalin's Purges. We survived the Nazis. We survived Putin. You, we don't bother fighting; it's not a challenge. Maybe now that you teamed up with Putin, fighting you will be a challenge."
