Are you familiar with Earthdawn? It had some ideas that are adjacent to what you're describing here.

Oh! You had a cute little wing-doggy (WHO MUST NEVER BE PET). He's just a li'l guy (WHO'S CRAWLING WITH DISEASE). You're so lucky to get to see such a widdle cutie (FROM EXTREME DISTANCE).

"My country just threatened the sovereignty of one of our closest allies, but instead of giving voice to how absolutely awful and faithless that was, what if I idly speculated about how I could benefit from it?"

God, that's a puzzle that's going to keep me up for a while. I think the words different, but I don't know how to distinguish them. Like I know that there are people who are afraid of flying. I feel strongly that I'm not one of them, but I am very anxious about it! What's the difference? 🤷‍♂️

I mostly remember being worried it bothered our dog because if dogs can hear better than people, and I could hear it, it must have been really awful for dogs. ...was my logic, anyway.

I meant noticing it as a neurodivergent thing. Because I used to try to talk about the whine and never understood why no one cared.

Wait, is this a thing?

That has very good mouthfeel.

Like the heat death of the universe, entropy is inescapable. But a sentient brain that is capable of making intelligent choices is the best tool the universe ever built for turning back entropy. In trillion-year time scales, it's futile. In human time scales, not so much. We can choose better.

Gravity is fine, but I'd like to request a higher human elasticity limit in the next patch.

But it's always cute when doctors try to give diet advice: "Don't eat a lot of melon pan." "Not a problem." "And avoid ramen." "Already do." "And reduce your intake of whole sardines grilled in soy sauce." "Is it possible to eat less than zero of something?"

You deserve the self-plug: your article was even better than I thought it would be, and I have a high opinion of your articles. Personally, this warrior/soldier distinction crystallized a lot of worries I've had about US culture but didn't know how to articulate. Thank you.

I had a work colleague who was constantly dropping conspiracy theories. I tried to be professionally respectful and couldn't just avoid him, and it was exhausting. Everyone wants to be listened to. But every one of his conspiracies basically boiled down to, "Notice how I'm smarter than you."

If someone assumes a person doesn't speak Japanese AFTER seeing repeated evidence they do, that's not being polite. Honestly, sometimes I'm not even sure it's conscious. Some people are so startled to deal with a non-Japanese face that they don't fully process the interaction they're in.

Me looking for the secret Gundam series that uses "Rock & Roll Dreams Come Through" or "Total Eclipse of the Heart" as its OP theme song. Come on, it's got to be out there!

Oh holy shit! In looking up stuff for this thread I found out Shiina also did a version of "Good Girls Go to Heaven, (Bad Girls Go Everywhere)", and it was way before the Meatloaf version?! youtu.be/HzRWrPHoyNc?...

Oh, and of COURSE it was in a TV show's OP. youtu.be/FEzQ18Hjweo?...

But maybe they're going for a blending of mid-20th Century Japanese ballads and City Pop, which from what I've seen of the aesthetics of the Streets of Fire movie mashing up 50s and 80s styles, makes me think someone did their homework. In which case it's not my thing, but it's damn cool.

At first I didn't dig the Japanese version. Diane Lane's vocal delivery has tension that Megumi Shiina's version lacks. And I figure the whole point of enjoying a Jim Steinman song is to listen to someone so overcome by emotion that they're barely holding it together. youtu.be/ir_6nWKu8ns?...
