No, but that looks really fun! We have the Ravensburger game which is a deck builder - I would recommend it :)

Oooh good to know! Is the set up quick? We've been playing Mycelia recently which is fun but sometimes we just can't be bothered getting all the pieces set up. We like quick games like Jaipur and Seven Wonder Dual.

Wingspan has been on our to buy list for a long time - would you say it has a good 2-player experience?

Would the way these are written out in the OCR formula sheet work better? www.ocr.org.uk/Images/30872...
Are there any other parts of the A Level formula sheets that throw you off like this? #ALevelMaths

I would love to hear more about how you managed to foster this level of excitement - it was always a struggle this time of year with lots of other fun things (shows, fayres, concerts etc) grabbing student attention.

I love their resources! I used to do a summer cryptography session during drop down days using their resources. I didn't realise they had stuff for Christmas too! Me and my partner use their books as road trip entertainment.

This is awesome! Have you got a pattern for this? I just finished my first colour work sock (working on the second!) and my tension is all over the place. I also broke my wooden circulars so I'm juggling floats over my dpns... Do you have any advice on how you keep your tension so neat?

Hi Tom, thank you for the comments! I'll review the blog accordingly soon.

Sorry! Have you ever taught iGCSE Maths? I'd still be interested in hearing your opinions!

I was just thinking this! I have the other one I think, the art work is a lot more cartoony but very cute. And it's a fun quick deck-builder game :)

For the free trial, yes.
If you are a home educator or a tutor, there's a request form to get an account - more info to be found here www.ocr.org.uk/qualificatio...

They're both free to access, the only requirement is that you need to be at an OCR centre as it's the exams officer which can get you an account. If you want things ASAP you can sign up for 7-day free trial and just download the resources you want :)

Have you got an account to Teach Cambridge? There are section check in tests available in the progress section which is a good source of questions. teachcambridge.org/landing
There's also Exambuilder which has legacy spec questions tagged to the current MEI scheme. exambuilder.ocr.org.uk

Yes, I've heard it quite a bit recently! The current format comes all the way back from 2013, when the subject content and assessment objectives were published. Go down to the appendix!

I got extra credit during my Econ A Level because I was able to present about micro-lending. Thanks Kiva!

Pizzamas!! I've very much enjoyed confusing people with my Pizza John Eras t-shirt over the year.

Super insightful! Definitely worth a listen. I was particularly interested in the discussion around teaching stats to EAL - something we found really tough. Do you have any resources/strategies to help? Was there anything else you wish you had said in the interview?

You can access them on teachcambridge.org with a login from your exams officer (don't need to teach OCR maths, just need to be an OCR centre for any subject).
If you need them straight away you can dm me your email and I'll send them over :)

Not the original poster but for number 1 I think of things like no timetabling issues, having plenty of notice for things like drop down days - which are well planned and run smoothly. Adequate support staff to help handle things like cover and reprographics.

I think this will be really interesting to read when it comes around - especially the recommendations that come out of it! There's a page on their website www.mathshorizons.uk asking people to get involved, so hopefully they get lots of teacher feedback.

I really like this distinction. I think it drills down to the heart of the debate - it can get quite muddied at times.
The fine line to tread is being able to is how can we support the first point while including context. And how we can include context which benefits all students.
comment in response to

I think this is a really big concern about contexts, there can be a minefield of potential biases introduced. I remember seeing questions set on topics such as cricket or F1 which were queried as benefiting those who were familiar with them.

To play devils advocate... what do you think of subjects like the sciences which also consider literacy in assessment like we do in Maths?
comment in response to
post
Really interesting Stella and @tombutton.bsky.social, I'm going to look more into those links - it's so interesting to compare.
I had a similar conversation with Sue at RME where I asked her how context could be included in assessment vs literacy demands and got a very similar response!

I was going to suggest riteangle but I can see I've been beaten to the punch :) mei.org.uk/ritangle/
We ran it during an enrichment club in the past, but the students used their class teams page to discuss through the week.

As if I just wrote this and saw that @berniewestacott.bsky.social (from the podcast I mentioned above) is also on here! If you haven't seen this already, I recommend it www.mrbartonmaths.com/blog/bernie-...

I find Mr Barton's deep dives so helpful! He had one about using manipulatives that actually gave me the confidence to try using counters with bottom set Y8 :)
