@nytpitchbot.bsky.social, face it, you can’t outpace the real thing.

Apart from the many disqualifying features of Patel & Bongino, there is no indication either has any ability to run the FBI. Neither has *any* leadership experience at *any* level of *anything*, much less leadership experience relevant to the largest law enforcement agency in the U.S.

Either this is a distraction, which is irresponsible, or it’s serious, which is insane. You choose, Mr. Trump.

Dear Dems. This is a reminder that Donald Trump rescinded the ethics rules preventing gifts to executive branch employees. Now would be a good time to propose legislation formalizing the prevention into a law Time to do things that make him react to you. apnews.com/article/trum...

@chrismurphyct.bsky.social why are you not posting on here first ? You have some great things to say. You are trying some great things. Yet you post on X where 100pct of the replies are meaningless and hateful. It's not all roses here, but the engagement has depth and real convos happen

This is the text of the bullshit email all federal government employees just received from the Office of Personnel Management (or are about to receive).

Usefully sober fact sheet on Ukraine. Please share with those who need it. understandingwar.org/backgrounder...

you could screen Idiocracy every single day in this WH and they would still experience it as a tribute concert

🚨NEW: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is planning to fire Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff C.Q. Brown, a 4-Star General and 41-year veteran of the Air Force who flew over 130 hours in combat as a fighter pilot. REPOST if you stand with General C.Q. Brown against Hegseth!

I appreciate everyone’s messages of support, I’m trying to get through all my mentions but as you can imagine, it’s been a bit of a busy day :) Remember - peaceful civil disobedience, and no kings, no tyrants. Not ever.

“At least Russia has elections” Russia frequently jails and kills any opposition to Putin, who has been in power since 1999. If you like dictatorships, that’s fine. Just admit that. Don’t insult anyone’s intelligence—including your own—by claiming Russia has real elections.

"One of the nation’s most prominent law firms, Sullivan & Cromwell, has made its decision, and it is the wrong one. S&C recently announced its ambition to become the leading Wall Street “MAGA” law firm by taking on the representation of Trump in the appeal of his “hush money” felony conviction"

Exactly: “It’s all but certain that many [Sullivan & Cromwell] lawyers are unhappy with the firm’s decision to become part of the Trump regime anti-rule of law machine, and for good reason. Apart from the sheer immorality of the firm’s choice … [a] starkly pragmatic question is also presented:”

“Ultimately, by joining in Trump’s effort to make America lawless, Sullivan & Cromwell may be working to render itself irrelevant.”

NY law firm Sullivan & Cromwell is enthusiastically joining Donald Trump's effort to undermine the justice system. It’s sad to see a firm clients have long turned to for counsel on how to comply with the law rendering itself into an instrument for promoting lawlessness, I diacuss in PN.

New in PN: Elite lawyers sell out the rule of law "Ultimately, by joining in Trump’s effort to make America lawless, Sullivan & Cromwell may be working to render itself irrelevant."

Doubts raised over US travel system during 2026 World Cup and 2028 Olympics. The US is unprepared for the burdens placed on its air travel system when the country hosts the 2026 World Cup & 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, according to a report released on Wednesday. www.theguardian.com/sport/2025/f...

Wrote about how easy it is to claim you saved taxpayers billions when you just make shit up. But also how this is the Twitter Files all over again. The dumbest people don't know what they're looking at so it must be a conspiracy www.techdirt.com/2025/02/19/i...

Feb 20 (@reuters.com) - Some U.S. Food and Drug Administration scientists have been told to stop using the words "woman," "disabled" and "elderly" in external communications, two sources familiar with the matter said. www.reuters.com/world/us/fda...

I've read most of the analyses of the DOGE 2025 "receipts" site. This, from NPR, is the best I've read so far. Some of what they claim to have cut haven't been cut, other "cuts" will incur costs down the road. NPR says DOGE has made $2B of cuts, not $55B. www.npr.org/2025/02/19/n...

What do you mean @kattybkay.bsky.social when you say democrats are opposed to cutting edge technology? That definitely is news to me. Can you give examples, or was that just some castoff comment?

SWAN: DOGE and SpaceX employees are now working directly at the FAA and DoD, agencies that have billions of dollars of contracts with Musk's companies or regulate them. How is that not a conflict of interest? TRUMP: Well I mean, I'm just hearing about it

There always was Trump/Russia. There still is Trump/Russia. The early actions of the Trump administration signal the continuing force of Trump/Russia. Feel free to add to the list, but here’s my list. Note: It’s only been a month.

If you restate the question as “why are we hearing the worst stories of federal workers harmed by vindictive authoritarians with a penchant for punishing dissent with harassment and violence via anonymous Reddit posts, press reports, and lawsuit filings” I think the answer gets a bit easier to see

A lot of folks don't fully comprehend the difference between a million and a billion, so here's an example: A million seconds = 11 days, 13 hours, 46 minutes, and 40 seconds. A billion seconds = 31 years, 259 days, 1 hour, 46 minutes, and 40 seconds. The difference is pretty huge.

Birthright Citizenship, Again: I can't believe I have to re-state the Bates backfire. I even used color emojis to make it super-clear the 1st time. But Barnett & Wurman misunderstood Mike Ramsey and me: They misread & reversed Citizenship -> Allegiance. shugerblogcom.wordpress.com/2025/02/19/b...

“We salute and admire the courage many of you have already exhibited and that will guide all of you as you continue to serve the interests of justice. You’ve responded to ethical challenges of a type no public servant should ever be forced to confront..."

1/ I am seeing a lot of comments on the slashing of NIH support along the lines of “universities should just spend their huge endowments.” I’m the last person to cheer on the institutional stratification rising endowments have contributed to. But let me explain why this is not a solution.

The top criminal prosecutor in the U.S. attorney's office in Washington quit today, citing pressure by the Trump administration to open what she viewed as an improper criminal probe of a federal contract. ca.news.yahoo.com/senior-u-pro...

@washingtonpost.com

These absolute morons are going to destroy the United States. If you’re in favor of the US leaving NATO, you either don’t want the US to succeed, or you don’t know wtf NATO does. Worth noting that Mike Lee voted to expand NATO in 2022.

In this time of the Musk-Trump administration, we will need to provide all the truth we can because it will be in short supply from the federal government. These scientists and science educators are also public activists. I will keep curating and updating the list. go.bsky.app/14W5Rdk

An important baseline for everyone, especially the press, is to assume Republicans in legal offices like attorney general are lying about the law. Because they usually are.

NEW: Scoop about the architect of the destruction of USAID. Pete Marocco was a USAID official in the first Trump Admin. On a trip to the Balkans, he secretly met with the Serb separatist leader. That was a no-no. Caused a big diplomatic incident. www.propublica.org/article/usai...

This is extraordinarily dangerous. Tomorrow, the legacy media will ask Republican officials about this. Those officials will lie and obfuscate. And the legacy media will move on. That is part of the crisis we face.

It would seem prudent--perhaps even a brilliant business move--for billionaires like @mcuban.bsky.social and Bill Gates to set up an institute for preserving scientific expertise and then hire up all the talent being released now. Maybe locate it in Switzerland.

Termination notices going out this afternoon to more than 300 employees of the National Cancer Institute. Access likely ends today. Four weeks paid leave and that’s it. Strong power move for Team Cancer.

This is so smart. @petebuttigieg.bsky.social , thoughts ? And if you see this. A reminder. This is not Twitter. You can engage here and have thoughtful discussions ! We all look forward to reading your thoughts

What? Truly and profoundly unsmart.

A line prosecutor did this. Whats wrong with the GOP that they can’t? www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Here’s the thing, during my 15+ years as a journalist, I’ve spent a LOT of time looking through government databases and records. There’s been numerous times when I thought, “What is this?” Then, actually examined the details and thought, “Oh, that is not what I thought it was.”

I don't do ads and I don't do robocalls and I don't do billboards. But someone who does should do ads targeting at least the SJC Republicans (and people like Collins) accusing them of letting Trump help a corrupt Democrat. Include picturs of them side by side with Adams.

@davearonberg.bsky.social why are you acting like Bove is making decisions without Pam Bondi’s consent? “Doing her a disservice,” my ass. Let’s face it. You were willfully blind to the danger she poses.

Of course the Democrats will be going to Houston to find and interview voters who were laid off , to ask them what their expectations of the new administration were and how they feel they are doing at the moment. And posting here and everywhere. Right ?

The outrage over Nixon's "Saturday Night Massacre" came when the top two officials at the DOJ resigned rather than follow his corrupt orders. These posts aren't as prominent, but their resignations should help force more attention on the insanely corrupt bargain between Adams and Trump.

This letter is almost psychotic.

REPOST if you support our federal workforce and know how dedicated they are to their jobs. Show them you appreciate them!
