Actually please recommend books/series that feel anti-HP to you, Percy Jackson is an already accepted great one, I know there's at least one other big one I'm forgetting. Recent ones ideally, tho the Worst Witch was there first and deserves better ✌️

Quoth the Ewa "Ravenmore."
I wish they'd do a TV show of something like the Scholomance books instead of HP because it feels like something written to be the anti-HP and I respect that

"When the Dark comes rising, Six shall turn it back;
Three from the circle, three from the track;
Wood, Bronze, Iron; Water, Fire, Stone;
Five will return and one go alone."

Plus @aptshadow.bsky.social is so prolific that I firmly believe he has three cloned brains in jars hooked up to typewriters to cover all his books.
It follows the same hero’s journey and is set in a school. They all have superpowers rather than being wizards.
The main character is 13-18 through the book (and does engage in some late-teen activities, so don't give it to an eight year old as you would with Harry Potter).
It's essentially, what if the guy from One Punch Man went to Hogwarts?
Lloyd Alexander's Prydain stuff is great British fantasy. And at around the same age as reading HP my kid preferred Atticus Claw and then Warrior Cats.
Dark Materials
I did not read the others
