When i got to our local farmers markets the demographic of farmers is:
- 10% little old farmers
- 15% younger family farmers
- 25% immigrant farmers
- 50% punks that grow wicked veggies farmers.
I am there enjoying the vibe, but also I will buy an eggplant. Not because I’m going to eat it, because no. But you did a great job growing it and I want you to feel good about that. The eggplant looks great. It’s very beautiful. Here’s a couple dollars.
I am shopping for my weekly groceries. Please enjoy the glow of my white-hot rage as you tarry in front of the produce to discursively congratulate the neighborhood worker you have mistaken for an upstate farmer.
As you can see from the bulging veins on my forehead, I am experiencing intense emotions right now! I would much prefer in general for a farmer's market to be an accessible, mundane experience rather than a spectacle. I will surely feel better with an eggplant!
I agree with you. Locally grown produce should be accessible to all every day, not just on Saturdays. We need to invest in infrastructure that allows you to buy your locally grown eggplant with the same accessibility as the industrially farmed eggplant in Kroger. It should be the baseline.
It occurred to me that somewhere in these next four years a farmer's market is going to sell farmers. when the infrastructure becomes out for structure
i work with my friend selling cheese at a farmer's market and we talk about the duality of the demographic all. the. time. (we are both team left, sorry to the vibers)
Contrary to popular ignorance, what happens in and to Palestine absolutely effects what happens in regards to farmers markets, who is able to purchase, sell, grow and consume goods and where these transactions are lawfully able to take place.
Some of us are there to get ethically sourced seasonal flower bouquets like 15m before they close, and maybe a latte from a street vendor and then we buy like 2 random mismatched left over veggies at the end and put them in a stew later.
I won’t go early b/c I can’t handle mornings or morning ppl.
I can simultaneously appreciate that it’s one of the best farmers markets in the country and also only actually go when I’ve really got the energy to put up with all of it
Former Farmer’s Market Manager here. Chill the F out and enjoy the veggies, the donuts, the beef, the earrings, the bbq sauce, the doll clothes, the live music, my mini loaves of sweet breads and your eclectic and traditional neighbors. 🦋💙🙏🌷🎶🍎🍉🍊🍆🥬🥦🫑🌽🥒🥑🥝🍑🍒🍓🍇🫐🍌🧅🧄🫒🥕🥖🥚🍰🎂🧁🍭🥧
I'm there for whatever local person has slapped together and called a sauce. Sometimes it's amazing. Sometimes it's pace in a different bottle. Sometimes the intensity causes me to see the face of my ancestors gripping their buttholes in fear. 10/10
on the contrary; while including details in the alt text is welcome, it's unnecessary and can be cumbersome to list every little one. better for the OP to add alt text that briefly describes the pic than none at all

Many of the vibe enjoyers are also the type to express annoyance when you're sold out in the last hour of the day. Sorry man. Shoulda chose gratitude.

I am not out of pajamas until at least 1pm on Saturdays.
