So I would take any report they’re directly involved in with a huge grain of salt and stay alert to spin.
TBH it sounds like susceptible people are reacting to genAI chatbots the same way they’ve been known to react to things like waifu bots and similar toys. It’s probably not as “new” or bizarre as they seem to imply.
It’s people being people with a new toy.
The sample size in the study is small and they seem to be filtering towards specific vulnerable usage, so doesn't reflect general use either.
Starting to think maybe all tech shit is like this. I’m getting closer and closer to shutting down all the social media I may use and weaning off my dependency for an iPhone.
