Not a one-click option, but close. You'll need an App Password from your settings and the URL from the Starter Pack. It'll create the list and then you can pin it.
Have you considered updating the appearance of that tool? I'm uncomfortable inputting a password to an unknown site with very basic design, nothing about who made the site, no links to the code.
Many people are skeptical of inputting a password to a site. Giving an indication of your 20 year record listing the link for code, offering an explanation about why the password is needed can help people decide whether or not to trust the site. That info should be on the site instead of a post.
Yes, that's been my main observation last few hours as I've been combing through starter packs. Love 'em, but painful to 'follow all' for each one then have to re-tag them individually to become a 'list'/'pinned feed'.
Also, if we could collapse reply threads, so I don’t have to scroll endlessly to get to the bottom. For example, the Reddit app does this when you press on the top of a reply, it hides that branch of replies.
💯 this. I followed a couple of starter packs last week and then noticed I was hardly seeing any skeets from folks I followed prior to last Wednesday’s great migration. Adjusted my settings so I don’t see replies or reposts for now and weeding things out.
I said the same thing the other day. If you're on desktop you can probably keep it open as a separate tab that you refresh once in a while since there's a posts list on the starter pack page.
You can ask the person who made it to create one! I did that for my French history starter pack (there's a third part app), and now people can add it as a list to their feed.
It's basically a list (but 'technically different') of accounts to follow for a particular topic. Be that general purpose, or maybe Astrophotography, SciFi authors, politics, news posting bots, etc.
Since a lot of people come onto BlueSky with no idea of who to follow, these can serve as a start.
Also would be nice: some kind of “save for later” where you can collect/bookmark starter packs you might want to come back to. (I know there’s a 📌 bookmark thingy but I find that so clunky)
Note that it's basically discontinued (the exact wording is maintenance mode), so it's probably not going to get new features as they're implemented in the base client.
Yeah, but over time likes are going to be very crowded and you may not remember when you liked a specific thing. And most of the time likes aren’t remotely related. It’s nice to have something to go to that are more specific if you’re only bookmarking information important to you.
Random advice: Bluesky starter packs are just the same as other Bluesky lists, with a different button at the top. You can take the url of any starter pack, or any combination of starter packs, and turn it into a custom feed.
I use skyfeed to make all of my feeds. The curated ones use regular lists, but it should work with any kind of list. We used to use moderation lists for them in the olden days, before the devs gave us the other list types.
at the top of your profile is a tab for "starter pack" - click on it, give your pack a name, then search for accounts to add. It tops out at 150 - and feeds can be part of the 150. I have starter packs for litmags and small presses because it is easy to search those words to find accounts.
It’s asking for an app password, which is something you create in settings. Essentially a one shot key to allow it access without giving your main password.
Once I had the others built the code for combining lists was pretty trivial to implement. The source can be either one of your lists or one from someone else. Nice way to "borrow" the work of others and build on it if so inclined, I think.

Lots of people want this! Starter Packs are marvelous, and this is their next evolution.

Maybe a conversion option would be useful, @bsky.app, @safety.bsky.app.

The code is here: https://github.com/sbm12/bsky-Pack2List.
And you won't hurt my feelings if you don't use it. But I think my record here (and elsewhere over 20+ years) speaks for itself.

that’s what I do
I've seen threads with pins, but I can't for the life of me find where to use it myself?

People really don't need to see me saving articles I tell myself I'll read later but will never get around to.
I do see huge pin threads sometimes, as everyone pins the thing for themselves.
In the meantime, we're happy to assist. We built bookmarks for bsky.
