ah, the old conservative two-step:
1. deliberately sabotage a thing
2. oh look, the thing is having problems, guess we’ve got to pay twice as much to my buddy to replace it with worse and more expensive service

WTF, @markwarner.bsky.social @wyden.senate.gov @smith.senate.gov @whitehouse.senate.gov @padilla.senate.gov @senatorheinrich.bsky.social ?
The postal service can't "lose money," it's a public good! If it costs money to run that doesn't fucking matter!
MAGA folks will just follow along and believe King Don..
Let grandma ship her bills using fedex. $20 for every letter. Lol
They shouldn’t negotiate. If Repubs want to make life worse for small-town America, let them. Just make them own it.

We're going to see a lot of this now that the wolves are in charge of the henhouse.
1. Massively intentional underfunding with massive budget surpluses.
2. Oh look we will fund them with vouchers
Like, one of the few requirements of the federal government in the constitution is that they have to run a postal service.
Not that the constitution means anything to these chucklefucks
USPS is the only carrier that services most of rural America. FedEx and UPS often use them for last mile in those places.
Not that it matters as all the prime agricultural property is owned by megacorps doing ag leasing or rich folks from the city with their hobby farms and country estates. Poor folk can't even dirt farm now
Not. We are a service to the American people. USPS has been in operation since before USA was officially a country
Step 2: complain that things are broken
Step 3: claim that the only way to fix things is to give tax breaks to the rich
Step 4: feudalism
Post is crucial infrastructure, it should not be for-profit.
BTW, the Constitution recognizes postal service and puts it under the authority of Congress.
Schools, prisons. Social Security, and more, follow the money.
Ask them how it's going.
Also see the entertainment business.
I feel like I'm becoming one of the conspiracy crowd but really it would be a nice bonus on top of a ready made business bought at bargain price
UK privatised Royal Mail and the private entity keeps threatening to go bust if they can't drop Universal Service obligations.
Jared in the mail room hasn't made BznsTek a single dime directly but it's still an essential fuckin service that helps the entire org function
a road might not make a direct profit but you'd soon notice the economic effects if you didn't have one so governments happily plough funds into those, then turn around and say "we should shut down rail routes for being unprofitable"
He who controls the mail…
And the other commercial services are getting more expensive as the competition has gone
It’s the “government should be run like a business” mindset
My hold out is the IRS will probably say No. Because their entire system would collapse.
The post office is baked into the legal system in an incredible number of ways.
There’s a reason the NC GOP keeps doing gerrymandering and unconstitutional power-grabs while their judicial cronies rubber-stamp it or look the other way.
It’s because the only way to push their agenda through is disenfranchising their (rural, southern) voters.
Yeah it says FedEx on the label but guess who moved it 80% of the way
I can only imagine now.
you're gonna do it.
like father like son.
you know when the postal police are coming after you that you're fucked.

Yes, the sellers paid up, but that left me without the items I actually wanted.
😂
The mail service since then has been shit.
That's actually part of their mission statement.
Nothing wrong with that if the objective is servicing the whole country tbh.
