Every day on the internet makes it abundantly clear that some people have never had a single person turn around and say to them, ‘Cite your sources’ because, and I say this with every ounce of love I can muster as a teacher: while you are entitled to your opinion, that does not make it fact.

Everything becomes fake news or they don't want to click on it at all. I told them we can continue the conversation when you've done your homework. It's fight or flight. Challenging core beliefs.
tldr:
it is a matter of a lot of experience and background knowledge to assess the reliability of an information source.
So education is absolutely key.
He wasn’t speaking to congress. His paper name tag was backwards in the picture and it was grainy. Of course I jumped on that horse shit and looked it up. I’m vindicated.
"Site your sources "
which they can't because they are ALL LIERS ! 🤥🤥👖on🔥
"Not a single TRUTH spoken here! "
Needs to be a sign posted whenever they are being interviewed!

yes
even wisdom is not fact
fact happens when it is agreeable and reproducible or siteable.
english is for poetry though 🥳
Belief should be formed around data. Data should not be formed around belief.
just kidding
"cite your sources"
Sources on this and other sites that take umbrage when I ask them to cite their sources . Cousin Vinny does not count . Misinformation if wrong from both sides
And it happens on BOTH sides of the political spectrum.
I mean, I spout stuff out my butt all the time, but I know what stuff i can back up with a lifetime of study and what stuff I've just extrapolated from anecdotal evidence.
But we need is to do something about it !
It always fascinates me that if they actually do have a source, they mistakenly give the same credit to scholarly sources as they do, 'Many people are saying'.
Particularly in matters like politics and social.
they want sources for every life event any one else has
and when you give it they go —
I’ve yet to receive any links.
I don't understand how people survive in this info-overload world of opinions without.
We have a big time manure problem in the US and it's not all in the feedlot.
If your statement wouldn't pass the scrutiny of a middle school grading, then take a min to look it up.
Be open to changing your views if the evidence for reliable sources doesn't support it.
I’ve stopped class to look things up—or even better, have a student fact-check me. Nothing better than a kid with a laptop yelling out something from an article and then ignore me to keep reading.
right wing media has ruined our lives.
My sources showed up to 10% were misidentified using Sharpie. And 25% of those were treated wrong.
Research themselves.
If no source, I go looking for one, before I repost.
I bet you hand people the correct fork too..
They. Don’t. Care.

In the spirit of the post.
They can wax bullshit and call it sources.
The you're arguing about what a source is.
Look it up with the global encyclopedia in your pocket (this phone); and tell them they're full of shit right then and there.
Address the actual problem.
If you want "facts" you need to do more.
But scholars have their own way of sorting through sources, don't they?
I responded that I was interested and wanted to see a reliable source, but was having trouble finding it. So, since they brought it up, I presume they have something and would like to share. Thanks!
Nothing was shared
“…provide proof OF the information…”
