"You don't need to transition to be trans" has become the equivalent of "You can be gay without acting on homosexual urges".
A sentiment that was supposed to be about inclusivity and welcoming people into our community has been cynically co-opted as an "affirming" basis to deny transition care.

Something I want to warn the trans community of: the NHS and DHSC are pushing the idea that “Blockers should not be seen as the defining feature of affirming care.” That is to say they want to deny trans people permission to transition but not be criticised for doing it. It’s bullshit, give ‘em hell

No choice at all, or rather ... a choice to be complicit in our own erasure.
in fact id wager that many want us to “choose” righteous suffering so they can nobly swoop in and comfort us. they need us miserable so they can play-act compassion for the lowly trannies
This is why the "born this way" narrative was pushed in gay contexts 20 years ago.
The point I'm making is the one I've always made: there is an institutional tendency, both in the halls of law and knowledge-production, to mask an opposition to transition in the language of gender-progressivism.
I saw it in the academy, and we're seeing echoes of it in policy.
On this one, I'm with JGP.
Otherwise it’s a commandment.
Leave it to the people who get upset about pronouns to get the pronoun wrong.
What we mean
"Some trans people don't require hormones and/or surgeries for their personal transition goals"
What they mean
"No trans people need hormones or surgeries, because some people don't need them"
Pinning this on trans people is not OK
"it's not a precondition"
VS
"it's not medically necessary"
Are two *completely* different things
>Actually, being in an opposite-sex relationship is the most radical and brave thing you can do, as a fellow gay person.
>Same-sex practitioners are oppressing folks who don't sexually practice
As a "baby-trans" I don't understand that phrase and it looks like I need to be deep inside the trans-discourse to understand why.
Likely one that saves lives. Some people just need to know for themselves, and have immense pain in not understanding it. We get taught a LOT of bad things that are untrue. Knowledge is always better.
My being trans is a property inherent to my existence, it's not some abstract group I merely identify with. Transitioning is critical to my being able to live with that property, ergo transition is required because I am trans.
absolutely surreal, i think they were all mormons
you can “work on it.”
and i found it, what a cringe and sadistic moment in entertainment. I’d probably cry if this was “my husband’s not trans”

How humans are physically sexed (on the level we can notice, not like say chromosomes) is clearly innately wired;
Can we stop pretending that (now and historically, always) 99% of people being existentially good with how their bodies are sexed and them being existentially destroyed if
Socially/medically transitioning are for obvious reasons extremely likely *outcomes* of being trans, not what it is…informed consent and self-id should be ubiquitous, etc.
But as you said, now it's being viciously appropriated to medically erase us.
You can hold two things simultaneously.
"Trans people seeking medical transition deserve care under informed consent policy to access medically necessary care."
"Trans people who don't require or desire medical transition are not any less trans for not needing hormones"
I'm a non-binary transwoman with tits and a beard and needs hormones and surgery.
I am a binary transexual female, pursuing the exact same medical transition as a binary trans woman
I am also genderfluid in terms of my gender
having a non-binary gender identity doesn't change the fact that I was supposed to be born with a female body
She's wrong.
And that is binary.
All for me saying that the transmeds shouldn't call trans people that don't want or need hormones to achieve their transition goals "cissexual"
And being the neuroqueer genderfuck genderfluid trans girl I am
The rest of us are with you
