I like your words except for the word "win" Win would suggest that our egos being fed is the reason for the fight. Freedom and freedom for all, compassion because that is what is right those are the reasons. What we should want is everyone to win not the us or them they sling at us ...
I'm with you, just not sure what winning looks like. Right now for my family, it's supporting vulnerable people in our community, and trying to prepare for the coming calamity - though we have no idea what it will look like. Kinda hard not to be doom and gloom right now.
They allowed Trump to do his delay and appeal bullshit. As soon as he was out of office. They should have flooded the public with as much evidence of his and every other persons failings and wrong doings so the country could see that no one was above the law.
Right, we need people who have a willingness to stand and fight. Hold news conferences. Report to the people. Demand transparency. The court of public opinion is the only court that will weigh the evidence. Then what ever is determined, action needs to be taken.
Needed reminder. I gotta remember we aren’t a cohesive citizenry-yet. But when our acts add up, i hope they’re in for a shock. I’m crushed though for the harm coming to our brothers and sisters detained by ICE, laid off by DOGE, betrayed in Palestine, Ukraine, the aid outreach places. Shameful.
Allow people time to grieve. It's like telling a kid to "get up, you're fine" after they fall off a bike. In that moment, everything sucks. I've lost affirmative action, Roe v. Wade, and watched as my trans friends lose their right to exist in this hellhole. We'll get there. But extend grace.
yeah like, i can totally get being depressed and anxious, but there's a difference between that and struggling to log off and overall posting in a way that makes it everyone else's problem too. the latter is a profoundly selfish thing to do.
I actually meant the government is trying to make it worse, by withholding my sweet, sweet SSRIs. But your point is well taken in that panicking in public is never a cool move. There's a reason "keep calm and carry on" is a catchy and lasting slogan.
And crucially, they believe the correct response to this is not "get treatment" but "change the whole outside world to eliminate any interaction that might trigger it"
oh my, this literally is the mood of a song called domodachi by rm I badly suggest you try listening to it it’s a song that can keep us all alive and motivated even in the darkest times
Babe this is my new fucking mantra. I needed you to share this so fuckin bad. My god. Tattooing this on my forehead so I can see it every time I look in the mirror.
Hot take: we are absolutely going to win the government back and we should be laying the groundwork for a very decisive win that enables us to fix all the damage they’ll have done by then
capitalists without a conscience are not our friends. WIN would suggest that our egos being fed is the reason for the fight. Freedom and freedom for all, compassion because that is what is right those are the reasons. What we should want is everyone to win not the us or them they sling at us ...
1) end the filibuster
2) expand the court
3) codify
- voting rights
- right to privacy
- campaign finance rules
4) use the RICO Act to dismantle the network that seized power
5) robust COINTELPRO to dismantle foreign influence
6) Green New Deal
7) Explicitly define 1/6 as an insurrection
Yeah the issue is that we don’t count stock, or loans secured by stock, as income. But a robust IRS would do a lot of good by just enforcing the existing tax code but yeah, I’d look for the DOJ to seize substantial assets as part of those RICO judgments.
@joshtpm.bsky.social suggested that, in exchange for restoring what's been busted and throwing Elon in the ocean, Dems agree to a series of one-month CRs with the proviso that Trump not monkey with any spending. If he does, no help with the next CR
Political version of this from Wolf Hall, please:
"When negotiation & compromise fail, and your only course is to destroy your enemy. Before they wake in the morning, have the axe in your hand."
We need to win until either they voluntarily adhere to norms (whether new or old) again, or we have enough social/legal/political power to enforce norms & punish violations.
Until violating the norms is more costly than adherence, they'll continue violating them. Our adherence only advantages them.
How is it possible to refute whats going on right now in a way that allows people to make long term investments in relationships with the Federal government without fear that those relationships will be upended by a purge every time an election shifts slightly to the right? I’m seriously asking.
First, put them in their newly expanding prison camps. With the same "rights" and treatment they're currently bestowing, while they await investigation
Unleash Jack Smith and his special investigator friends from the The Hague Tribunal
Televised trials
Prison and restitution
No bullshit
He didn’t. There was a robust investigation underway and handed off to Jack Smith, and every time you repeat the lie that there wasn’t, a fascist gets a job in the government. It’s like bells and angels’ wings.
By spreading demoralization and encouraging people to blame those who tried to hold Trump accountable (Garland, Smith, DOJ, other prosecutors) while giving a free pass to those who actually helped him avoid accountability (SCOTUS).
Call _all_ your representatives - federal, state, local. Attend any "town halls" or other meetings that you can. Vote in _every_ election (because those "little" ones _matter_. Adjust your spending habits to support local and aligned businesses and avoid those that aren't.
Connect with friends and neighbors, and coordinate your calls. In primary season, approach the candidates *as a group* and let them know what your priorities are. Vote accordingly.
Get yourselves on politicians' radar as a force with numbers. Ally your numbers with other movements.
And *especially* show up for the little seemingly-inconsequential elections. Often, holders of higher office are really invested in their outcomes. Get noticed.
@50501movement.bsky.social is calling for rallies in all 50 states on Feb 17, Presidents’ Day. You can find an event near you at https://www.fiftyfifty.one. Let’s peacefully show up en masse on Monday.

My patience for Doomers has run out this week. I'm in this to win. I'm sick of us rolling over preemptively. The GOP is weak. Trump won by a plurality because Biden voters stayed home. They aren't invincible. We CAN do this.
They stayed home because the party sucks. If the party seemed at all interested in being better and working for the working class, that would probably change.
I can't think of a party that worked harder for the common people. They were mostly honest while they did it. The ppl that voted for trump voted for a lie. A lying racist, homophobic, mysogynistic, hitler wanna-be.
The party that left the federal minimum wage at $7.25/hr. The party whose last President intervened to bust a strike? The ones who take the same money from large corporate donors? Who strangle the progressive wing of their own party?
Trump offered a different path. He spoke to frustrations people were actually feeling. He lied and placed that blame on other people, and he doesn't actually care about helping anyone. But he offered a change when people were sick and tired of the status quo. Dems refused to do that.
2026 is important. The midterms can kneecap the administration and the House can impeach, and the Senate convict and remove, the President, VP, SecDef, HHS, etc.
Imagine watching January 6th thugs getting pardoned, after serving 2.5 years for posting Anti-Fascist rhetoric online. Now imagine losing your vote, your income and, potentially your home, because employers won’t hire you.

I hope to hell this country pulls through and "wins", whatever that looks like. Some people, a lot of people, aren't going to make it. Please respect that fact and allow us to grieve for our own lives and loss of love ones. No need to put down people on the same side just because they're vulnerable
In defense of the Sooners, we are less than one month in and we have a year and a half to go before the MIDTERMS. Shit is gonna get really nasty and could potentially be worse than we initially theorized

If one more person tells me to call my representatives I'm going to use a swear.
Must work out how to apply to local community.
Fortunately MS is a target rich environment of horrifying policy.

"When negotiation & compromise fail, and your only course is to destroy your enemy. Before they wake in the morning, have the axe in your hand."
Maybe some form of direct election or approval/retention referendum for some of the Cabinet-level offices, too.
We can & will form new norms, but strict adherence to dead/dying norms is dumb, bc it's only a norm if (nearly) everyone follows it.
We're in a prisoner's dilemma, & our opponent is repeatedly betraying us.
Until violating the norms is more costly than adherence, they'll continue violating them. Our adherence only advantages them.
All we can do is build something new in whatever ruins survive.
Still waiting for that.
No dilly-dallying like Garland did for the first two years of the Biden presidency.
