Increasingly thinking how useful it is to have people you trust around you who can say "stop it, you're acting like a dumbass" (I have a few of those, and plenty of others on social media willing to add to the chorus). And how few of the folks in power today seem to have those people around them.

Trump & Elon are walking, malformed, screaming ego injuries that could never value truth over self-image. All they love is that image. Without it, they might as well not exist. Dissonance keeps them isolated.

Today, late-night talk show comedians largely fulfill this role.
But as to people in the inner circles, politicians tend to prefer Yes Men who stroke their egos.
