A hateful thing to say. People whose approach to life is not faith-based have done enormous good, majority non-religious societies have been some of the strongest proponents of human dignity and solidarity. Why is the BBC just printed this unchallenged? If it's "news", it should be balanced.

I won't take lessons on morality from such people.
And you're declaring Christianity to be hateful and that's not news either.
If you are, it says more about you than him.
ACCOMPANIED (no causation implied)
your interpretation is not just wrong, it is dishonest.
The fact that I could swap out “faith” for “lack of faith” and the statement would carry the same truth value demonstrates the entire statement can be discarded.
See how bad that sounds??
I think the best interpretation involves an open mind and a presumption that faith isn't the only basis for morality, but it's a good one.
it doesn't really get to the heart of Kierkegaard's faith, for instance
The difference is that you're condescending about it.
So much of xian rhetoric is meant to give you negative feelings about yourself until you relent
I’m not a person of faith but I tolerate and respect those who are. In my community, secular and faith-based folks work together to advocate for the poor, the environment, and loads more.
I thought Christianity was about inclusion- did I get this wrong?
This is the pope. He'd probably still like you better than a christofascist following the Antichrist.
2. You are anonymous, hence not to be take serious
3. I was educated in public school.
4. I’m simply not religious, the word “atheist” sounds unpleasantly aggressive to me
Pretty sure Jesus never said that.
“He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
eternal damnation has been the doctrine for centuries. don’t know how you missed it
But then I figured out eventually that there are a lot of classical objectivists with absolute faith in liberal rationalism who also use the same term.
They cannot imagine retaining a purpose without their invisible friend, so cannot understand that everyone else grew up years ago.
For instance.

I just haven’t managed to be offended by this. And also I would actually be offended if the actual pope came out and slated people based on their perceived ‘intelligence’
every war criminal commits to the bit before taking an L
easier to blame the dirty heathens
they'll kill him if he farts weird
( as is "faith is often tragically accompanied by the .. neglect of mercy, appalling violations of human dignity, the crisis of family and so many other wounds" )
PS: 'if its "news" it should be balanced' is wrong.
News needs be true & new. BBC reports need only be accurate.
sorry .... That's life. Catholic or not.
The Catholics keep electing gay Popes (55 in a row so far). Of course they are mentally ill.
But so is everyone
#Christian Faith = TRAITOR; LIAR and HATEFUL fuck
(the point about BBC balance is interesting though, they do pick and choose!)
The BBC hasn't commented that what he said was correct as far as I can see?
I agree with your point re the validity of what he said btw. MAGA leaders are very religious (on paper lol), for example
You know stepped up to raise money for us? The Pride Center.
As I sat in the with my daughter and witnessed⬇️
But that is still conceptually reliant on a higher authority outside of humanity.
Would be weird if i did. Especially about how important religion is.
This statement is not absolute. But it does nail down MAGA.
Faith doesn’t make you moral — your choices do. Morality is learned, not gifted. And the loudest voices for god are often the cruelest among us.
