Sorry to take a tangent butβ¦
My dad was born in 1925, entered the Army at 17 during WWII, put in 30 years active plus some more years later as a civilian. All he would say when I asked was βI was a cog in a wheelβ.
I miss his perspective and humility.
Some folks are parading too much.
My dad served in the Army for 13 years starting in the late 50s including a tour in Vietnam where he earned a Bronze Star. Iβd ask what it was for and heβd brush it off as no big deal, saying others did more. Most of his friends had no idea heβd even served because he didnβt make it his personality.
What? What is he talking about? He was a former Marine artillery officer, is he talking about leading the FDC? Or Fire-whatever you call it-battalion level-fire support element? Or a gun battery?
If you read this, it honestly sounds like he's never led an organization of any kind, much less marines in combat. Another failing, far-right wacko the Trump people dug up somewhere.
He also seems to have no idea that natural disasters don't respect state boundaries, which is the entire rationale for a federal lead role: "'We're going to find out how to push things down to the states,' the acting leader later added. 'That should be done at the state level'." Uh, no.
wow. Usually, thereβs something about being a FSO with a line company, platoon leader of a artillery platoon, lead a Fire Direction Center, or FS staff at battalion level (Marines are funny they have MAGTF or something), but *woof* nuthinβ. Like he was just battalion staff.
Read more of his speech to staff. Not one word about helping the public or following the laws regarding FEMA. Only fealty to Trump. Wonder if this will lead to end of the National Flood Insurance Program which includes flood mapping. Glad I didn't apply to FEMA when had the chance & encouragement.
Oh. My. God. What the hell kind of robot is this? For 19 years I worked for a County with lots of support, some funding & encouragement from FEMA. Just by this 1 statement from him its clear he's not there to help anyone or support the public or his staff. So sad for FEMA staff I know. π
Richardson's formal title is Senior Official Performing the Duties of FEMA Administrator. He was named to the role Thursday and has not been formally nominated nor confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
"I can't recall the full title, but essentially, I'm acting,"
I can't wait until his staff explains to him that, because of cuts at the national weather service, it will be impossible to efficiently prepare for hurricanes --
Yeah, definitely could have gotten some kind of degree, just odd that it wasn't mentioned in his bio then. But it wasn't exactly verbose so I suppose that's no more surprising.
Women across America, from pre-school teachers to CEOs, are collectively laughing their a#$es off and thinking "oh, do tell us how it's done, sir" (snicker, snicker, snort)
