Saikat Chakrabarti, 39, who previously worked in the tech sector and for Senator Bernie Sanders before joining Ocasio-Cortez’s staff, has announced his intention to primary Representative Nancy Pelosi in an attempt to redefine the Democratic Party.

A thank you to Pelosi for all her decades of work is extremely warranted but it is time for this transition to start. Not sure if he can pull it off but the effort needs to be made wherever it can be to transition Dems to a political fighting style that competes aggressively with MAGA media machine.
I 100% agree Pelosi needs to move on. I'm questioning if Chakrabarti is the answer. Do your research before you start working for his campaign. We need to stop electing people with questionable back grounds...it hasn't been working.
This is excellent news! It’s time for the senior brigade to stand down. They gave away democracy to fascism, and they no longer serve a purpose in government.
The Democratic Party desperately needs to finally cast off the neoliberal triangulations of the Clinton years and reinvigorate itself as a party of working Americans. Bring all challengers and let's see who comes out a winner. Just sayin': Pelosi is a rock that'll be tough to beat if she wants it.
People aged 75+ that still have a hunger and desire for public service can and should be able to contribute. But not in front line positions of power. Consultative roles, fantastic yes. But whole swathes of issues with democratic societies could be resolved with upper age limits for key roles.
What contributions would that be? He's been in Congress almost as long as I've been alive and no one can name a single bill he authored that was signed into law that did anything other than name post offices. He's supposed to be a LAW MAKER and he hasn't made laws.
there are many industries and occupations that force retirement at a certain age, no reason we can't do the same for politicians. There's already a minimum age they enforce.
GOOD! Everyone should be challenged. Let's them know how they're viewed. I've got a better idea tho, RETIRE! It's good to have strong leadership but more important to be strong and up to date with society! The old ways aren't working anymore. Step aside and pass the torch.
That's like the Mafia redefining themselves. Still the corrupt Mafia. Their reason for existing will still be the same : screw the people over while keeping them "calm" about it
She can’t be beaten. In the 2024 primary she took 73%. #2 was a Republican with 16%. The closest Dem got 5%.
This is a pipe dream. One of many from the wing of the party that can’t think strategically. Try to focus on who the real enemy is. It’s not the most successful speaker in history.
the only real success she's had was her ability to play the stock market. the democrats unwillingness to do much of anything to improve our lives is why we're in the mess we're in. fascism rises from the failings of liberal democracy.
Cant stand Pelosi. She feeds at the same trough, is guilty of the same insider trading, and is just as out of touch as her despicable colleagues across the aisle. Hope her opponent gains enough traction to spend her dominance.
So a trash bigot pro-fascist candidate is running against Pelosi. Lovely, we need garbage like Bigot Bernie and Always On Camera to help Trump destroy America. Fuck all that noise.
It’s not a bad idea. The democrats at the moment are secluded in their ivory tower, which is one of the reasons why Trumpie Boy won. Some fresh perspective may be much needed.
I applaud Saikat for confronting this challenge. At the same time how many people even know who he is? Someone with more name recognition and clout might be the better choice. Let’s see him make news now and going forward so we can have a better view of his future.
Nancy Pelosi is entirely un-democratic. She conspired with the party machine to oppose primary challengers. Yet, her party had no hesitation offering primary challengers of their own to oust progressive party leaders.
Fossils are why Dems lose elections. Out, damn shitstain!
This is the spark the Democratic Party needs. It's an infusion of both Ocasio-Cortez & Bernie Sanders creating a foundation of progressive policies going forward. Let's replicate this throughout the Democratic Party.
Democrats support the working class.
Republicans support only the rich.
Kamala’s constant insistence on how GREAT the economy is (read: Nancy Pelosi’s stock portfolio is BOOMING!) told the voters “we @thedemocrats do not give a FUCK about you.”
So what you're trying to say is that bc we missed an opportunity to convert, having somebody that worked on that campaign will be a painful reminder of centrism's mistakes?
Moving forward, Republicans will win all elections regardless of how people vote. You can try all you want; they will always win. How do you think they “won” in 2024? It’s rigged.
The "Rig" is that Pelosi and other aging democrats enjoy their legal insider trading and limitless corporate bribes as much as their republican buddies do. Indulge in pointless conspiracy if you want, but the stolen election was 25 years ago, and none of you did shit about it.
What insider trading? Her husband is a professional money manager and has been for 60 years. Because he bought NVIDIA 2 years ago he has "insider information"? Come on. I DO think the "Pelosi trackers" on her/his stock trades are funny though. He's had some great trades the last few years.
Thank you for your service Nancy, but your kowtowing to Reagan's corpse in the 2020s isn't doing you any favors.
You need to know that there's a point where "bipartisanship" becomes appeasement. You also need to know that staying in the Reagan Crouch isn't going to get our democracy back.
When our local Congress person, Ron Dellums retired, he recommended his senior staffer Barbara Lee to run for his seat. That’s the way it should be done. Pass the torch.
Yeah. Shahid ran one of the worst campaigns I've ever seen. People still talk about it. He's *still* mad at me for dropping his endorsement.
Chakrabarti should have run in '24, taking advantage of the global anti-incumbency trend that helped Trump win. Who knows what's going to happen next year?
The last thing we need is more "Trump curious" corporate Democrats, the very thing which lead us here. Absolutely NO. We need massive structural change in this country, not more ass kissing wealthy donor Democrats.
I’m not sure about this position. Trump is not a centrist and tons of undecided or previous Biden voters voted for him. Why did they do it? Certainly not because he was a moderate! I don’t have an answer but this position seems wrong to me.
“Tik Tak Toe” “Every student protester is a Chinese propagandist!” “My insider trading violations are legal because: FREE MARKET!” #FuckPelosi #GrandparentsOutOfGovernment

How are these people still at it‽ Sit DOWN, gramps, have a nap. Jesus. I’m exhausted and I’m not 127 years old.
We need to kick Pelosi out of there so we can get things done.
I hope this works.
Also, primary Schumer out of the Senate.

IS SHE REALLY GOING TO FUCKING RUN AGAIN???
Major donors are the ones controlling the strings.

I don’t have time for your ignorance.
Racism NO!
Genderism NO!
Ageism? Sure.
Fossils are why Dems lose elections. Out, damn shitstain!
Or a Congress after March 14 ..
Who cares .. seriously.
Democrats support the working class.
Republicans support only the rich.
“Democrats COULD support the working class,”
Kamala’s constant insistence on how GREAT the economy is (read: Nancy Pelosi’s stock portfolio is BOOMING!) told the voters “we @thedemocrats do not give a FUCK about you.”
Nancy needs to go, but dumping someone with that much clout for a backbencher who might pull a Sinema would be bad.
It wasn’t rigged, and the world doesn’t need more conspiracy theories.
Work on fixing things instead.
You need to know that there's a point where "bipartisanship" becomes appeasement. You also need to know that staying in the Reagan Crouch isn't going to get our democracy back.
and laughing at children who worry about climate change.
shes a criminal.
There are 435 seats in the House. You aren't going to win *this* one. There are plenty others that are close.
If you advocate violence, don't be surprised if you get an unpleasant knock on your door.
