Orgs helping unhoused will be hard hit by this as well, Hang Out Do Good, SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition, Hollywood Food Coalition. All local. Homelessness will increase from this event
Be careful what you endorse to donate to, a celebrity endorsed a group in AUS and raised $51 million but it was a localised group that didn’t cover all areas affected and they legally couldn’t share with other organisations. Still a great group but many missed out on donations & help
One such place is World Central Kitchen. Chef Andre is already on the ground feeding people in SoCal. Know that your money is well spent when you donate here.
I donate to World Central Kitchen monthly. They are usually first to respond with meals as long as they are needed. They were in my community for a few months last fall. 😞❤️
As a former charity person, I'd suggest that donations of 'stuff' are usually a real burden to those who have to navigate hazards to collect, sort, store, and distribute it. Money works better, and is more efficient and effective. The Red Cross usually works best, right out of the gate.
Great advice. On Maui we were literally buried in stuff no one wanted or could use. LA impacted folks have no where to put it right now. They need food, shelter, support and compassion. Donating to orgs that provide those services is the most needed thing right now.
My dude, this is Los Angeles. Most of the houses are million-dollar homes.
Lots of apartments burning, too - the fires dont discriminate. Most of us out here are just trying to get by, so for the love of all that's good, try to have a shred of empathy.
Biden has declared LA a disaster zone. Go on the FEMA website to apply for aid. Once it’s safe a FEMA agent will review your property. I as in the Camp Fir The assessor called me at8 on Sunday. I had aid money in my bank account on Monday
Sorry to hear that. It’s tough. For me it’s been six years. There are a lot of resources to help. And strangers are so kind. I also recommend this web site for resources. They help fire victims connect to resources https://afterthefireusa.org/
I just tried to contribute and their website uses meta pay who sez they'll store your credit card information for your convenience. ah, no. Also, they charge the Humane Society a service fee. I'll call the Society directly and find another way to get my money to them.
Don’t forget to support the Watch Duty app - they work hard to have to post the most up-to-date fire information for free. Some day it might be you needing to rely on this service. http://app.watchduty.org
The American Red Cross is a reputable organization.
I personally volunteer for this great organization. I was deployed last year during the NC Hurricane Helena. They are dedicated volunteers!
Call 800-Red Cross to ask about how to support the LA Wildfire disaster relief. They will direct you!
When my Parents house burnt down, the Red Cross were the place most willing to help. This may be different in California, but the ladies that helped me and my sister in out time of need were amazing
A former client of mine, Project Ropa, provides a mobile clothing closet, hygiene services, and resources for ppl experiencing homelessness in LA. They need N95 masks, hygiene supplies, and cash.
The Red Cross. Also, Chef Jose Andres' @wck.org will be setting up to feed the fire fighters and anyone else who needs a meal - always a good organization to support!
I’d say World Central Kitchen for help right now for feeding people on the ground now, and Habitat for Humanity if there’s a California chapter for helping get houses back up for the less fortunate once it’s over.
Samaritan's Purse
A nondenominational evangelical Christian organization that provides emergency aid and comfort to victims of natural disasters. Rebuild or restore houses for families in need. Samaritan's Purse has a 26,000-square foot center in Blowing Rock, North Carolina $$0.00 to GODLESS CA
United Methodist Committee on Relief. 100% of the funds go to those they are supposed to be helping
They already have a donation site up for the fires.
Just want to add that I am a donor to WCK and their integrity and fidelity to their mission is incredible. I get quarterly emails explaining where their donations are put to use. They do not bombard me with “begging emails.” Makes me want to donate even more without being asked. 🍲🚰
The World Kitchen is my favorite, I always donate to them because they will arrive when there is an all clear. Humane shelters in the area since pets have been injured, restaurants are providing food for first responders so maybe assist them for now.
anyone who like to dane can do it true the red cross they're always ready to help peole during tragic times like this, do not give $ to unknown organization grifters take advantage to commit fraud during times like this https://www.redcross.org/
I look for animal groups because many give to the Red Cross. I did an online donation to the Pasadena Humane Society. But I'm in TX - someone local would likely have good ideas that would get $$ directly to folks affected.
World Central Kitchen (https://WCK.org) could also use donations. They are on the ground to support and feed first responders and residents affected by the fires.
WCK.
Donate gift cards good for pharmacies to the local shelter.
For those who can? Donate blood/plasma.
Art supplies to the shelters. Books to the shelters.
Basic hygiene/first aid items to the shelters.
World Central Kitchen, Samaritan’s Purse, Mercy Chefs, local humane societies/animal shelters. The first 3 were quick to arrive in Lahaina. The animal shelters and rescues take in lots of displaced and injured animals

This is always a smart place to start to find legitimate places to donate.

From personal experience donating money goes the furthest. So if you have items you'd like to donate the best thing you could do is sell it local to where you are; host a neighborhood garage sale and donate the proceeds.

Give money. Money can be used for whatever is needed.
Food and clothing IS NOT needed. They will have so much of it that they will have TRUCK LOADS left over that will be donated to a thrift store.
Everyone gives clothes and toiletries.

Please consider buying a Cybertruck and driving it to Mar-A-Lago for a $ 10,000-person round of golf.
There is an evacuation center set up at Hollywood High School, there is also an In&Out next door to the school.
If I had any money I'd buy everyone there lunch.
Pacific Palisades will be ok

I know there’s probably wider reaching orgs to donate to but I want to make sure this family gets support too. They lost absolutely everything.
