Where is an affordable but still cool & friendly* place least susceptible to *gestures wildly at everything*? Is it Cincinnati?

We're far enough and then that we don't get hit by major hurricanes, tectonically stable, high enough humidity in general that forest fires aren't an issue, and maybe one bad winter storm every 4 years
But otherwise, yeah
Raleigh is on the fall line, so I expect it would drain pretty well in the event of a tropical storm.
it’s not cincinnati as much as i want it to be
unless you all start moving here and making it that way, i would be in favor of
$270k for a 1650 sqft house with yard/driveway/garage is average
plus i’m here (priceless)
We rarely get snow.
State legislature is pretty shitty, but we're able to hire good governors to hang on to some sense of hope.
(1) Climate change impact is manageable. It’s warmer and wetter. Just don’t build on a hill.
(2) They’re all building housing about as fast as they can. That makes a huge difference for lots of other things.
It gets cold here of course, but we really only get a couple "significant" snowfall days each season.
The hardest part IMO is you will go weeks without very much sun
Culturally… not as bad as outsiders think, but low bar is low. Education wise.. Hoo boy
I’ll also shout out Savannah, GA even though the best parts are super expensive. The coastline is shaped in such a way it’s almost impossible to take a direct hit from a hurricane.
Indianapolis itself is affordable, has NFL and NBA teams. Lots of great college sports.
Not the best place, but cromulent.
I got to see Andrew McCutchen before his MLB debut.
There is currently almost no snow on the ground
I've only used my snow blower once this year, and only once last year
(Please don't ask about the snowiest winter on record two winters ago, that sucked balls)
(Note to nature: this is not a complaint)
Louisville on the other hand is a small City in Southern Indiana.
I am unsurprisingly partial to Chicago.
housing market is so-so, but the rent market is so bad that it often ends up on lists of the worst in the nation alongside LA and NYC
Sioux Falls? Omaha? Both seemed very affordable nice places to live, but maybe not the vibe you’re looking for.
Kansas City?
Ohio is out if you want blue.
NY and MN are more reliably blue than WI and MI.
Wild card option might be Pittsburgh.
I could possibly introduce you to the FPD, but I haven't spoken to her in years (not for bad reasons)
Only major weather issue is flooding on the rivers but there isn’t a ton of housing along the riverfront in town which helps
“What if we made our own ATL, but yknow like totally only for white people?”
But... Arkansas. And the air routes are just not great.
The natural beauty is awesome. They have tons of great outdoors. Cheap housing.
And are bottom 5 for politics for normal folks.
People don't even like who they elect. But libs and RINOs are evil, and the accusation is an easier tag than calling someone a witch in Salem.
Many of them talk more crap about Abbott, Cruz, et al than I do.
But in that voting booth, they'll pull the lever every single time.
Bad: Friendlyish. Provincial, especially on the west side. You get Ohio's politics. Some backwards ass rubes. Public transit is BUTT.
