Sen. Josh Hawley rebukes Vance and allies for suggesting that court orders should be disobeyed. Great to see a GOP senator speaking out against this anti-American idea.

Hawley is self-serving, so look for what he stands to gain. I think we’ve all learned we can’t take anything Trump or his supporters say at face value.
😂 Watch what happens when push comes to shove. Again Barb- the play between MAGA & "Republicans" is nothing more than good cop, bad cop.
So MAGA Josh is playing "good cop" this time.🙄
Interesting, but until republicans stand up in a sustained way against the chaos - he gets no kudos. He is one of the reasons why we are in this total quagmire.
Hawley's afraid of losing his job...as the days unfold it becomes increasingly apparent those in both the House and Senate are considered mere window dressing by the self-aggrandizing self-enriching 'kings' occupying our White House and stealing everything that's not nailed down.
Nope he does not get to get away with that. He told us Harris was a threat to our democracy and that we needed Trump so he owns him, and all of his baggage! I want to see Trump becoming a milestone around their necks!
Soooooo, could this be some kind of indication that public blowback is making its way to the bottom-feeders and forcing them rethink things enough to at least feign disapproval?
Senator Hawley is coming to the realization that if he doesn't stand for the rule of law, then there's really no point for his position as Senator to even exist. He will be superfluous.
I would also add that this is the message that I emailed to U.S. Senator James Lankford and House of Representatives member Frank Lucas last night. If they don't stand for the rule of law, then there's really no reason for their positions in Congress to exist.
Senator Thune needs to hear the same thing. If Felon45 can just usurp their powers without Republicans objecting, then there's no reason to have a Congress anymore.
Our Oklahoma delegation has become a real embarrassment. What’s worse about them is they all seem to have given complete control of the legislative branch of government to Elon and Felon Trump! Standing up for the law is something they seem incapable of doing. We need new leadership.
🎯 That applies to everyone in the Senate and the House including their staffers. They’re quickly working (by NOT working) themselves out of jobs.
Duh … pretty effong stupid.
A pity, though, that this message couldn't come from someone without the reputation for insincerity and untrustworthiness that Josh has done so much to earn.
Absolutely. No one in the WH or Executive Branch should defy a court order. That goes for POTUS as well as the janitors. Everyone is obligated to the law.
I live in St. Louis and I can’t believe that I have to admit that Josh Hawley actually said the right thing. At the same time, he’s a proven coward (see: Jan. 6 video) and we’ll have to see if he does a 180.
Hawley?!
You can't be serious?
Hawley only wants to preserve the courts so they can enforce draconian laws, such as anti-woman and anti-LGBTQ+ edicts.
Trump's attacks on the courts are a strategic disaster. If the courts are illegitimate, you can't enforce all the oppression.
So everything is fine then? The other TV lawyer, Joyce White, didn't seem to know they are ignoring the multiple court orders, and we are in a crisis. Call me suspicious when people try to make it all okay when it's NOT.
Sen. Josh Hawley no doubt will be brought in front of Trump, Neil and kiss the ring and get back to business the way Trump, President poopy pants wants things done.
GOP Senators realizong that this blatant power grab cannot be left unchecked, otherwise they (along with entire population) will lose all relevance in running the government.
This is not pro-America, but rather looking out for their self interests. It's another game of thrones.
pouring one out for Sen Hawley, who's about to find out via Trump's angry Truth posts that he's a RINO, and also what it's like to be on the receiving end of MAGA wrath
Don’t expect anything good from Hawley. Situational integrity isn’t the same as actual integrity. He has an angle. He always does. And he’s a fraud from tip to toe.
I’ll reserve judgment until we see what’s in it for him. He’s a deeply committed maga. This is NOT about right or wrong; it’s about what’s best for the king, or himself.
This is great. I've been really angsting about what happens if the Trump administration just decides to defy court orders. Having a Trumpy Senator speak up and say they can't do that is important if we're going to save our republic.
Mostly notable for the fact that Hawley is Vance's closest ideological compatriot in the Senate. He's also mostly backed up what the Trump admin has been doing, pointing to Biden's student loan forgiveness as an example of lawlessness. 1/4
Here's a fuller transcript:
"I think you can dislike the court's opinion and think they're wrong on the substance, and criticize them for that, and you certainly can vigorously appeal. And you can also read a mandate — you know, when a court issues an opinion," 2/4
"they issue what's called a mandate that sort of sets the direction, 'Here's what you're going to do.' It's perfectly fine to read that very narrowly, to be like, all right, fine. You said to do this, and we're gonna do that, but we're gonna do only that, we're not going to apply it broadly." 3/4
"So that's all fine.
I think outright, sort of just like, 'Oh, we're just going to completely ignore the decision?' That, I think you can't do. Andrew Jackson did that, infamously. He was wrong on that. That was the Trail of Tears. That was lawless. That was wrong." 4/4
Hawley and Biden both used the same Augustine quote to define America. They're both pro-union & labor laws. I have to imagine Hawley hates what Musk is doing to the country. Their just miles apart on the culture wars which separates the interests of the working class.
Oohhh! Barb! Now you're really testing me - cannot stand to credit Josh Hawley with anything - if he's showing some Pro-Democracy muscle - fine. Good job Senator.

There’s not enough water in the world to clean off this awful feeling.
my guess, he will fold like a used Kleenex, push come to shove
AND saying something intelligent for a change.
Why are they against it NOW? What could they gain?
The one viewed as saving the party from Trump will be viewed as a hero. Who would use that?
He would.
Jog Hallway is no hero.
I am shocked. Maybe he is wise enough to realize, there will be a post Trump/Musk.
Somewhat skeptical of the strength of his spine
Duh … pretty effong stupid.
We also don't know where SCOTUS stands on all of this, given their corruption and fealty in some cases. It's scary.
Then the running.

He will probably be sent away for reeducation soon.
