Good dot Store is still founded by a scientist. Those who want "without" should be asked why a store headed by a scientist would provide such an option.
If there's a *real* reason... cool, I learned something. But no need to pander/spread to anti-science propaganda as if legit.
Skin care I have my face wash automatised on amazon and it would be incredible if I could get a subscription with good store for that!! Maybe a plan with a good face wash and body lotion every few months and in the mean time you get a different face mask or something idk. Oor something for my cat 🤷🏻♀️
Imagine if single women could have their own housing complex and all live independently but together still bc there's absolutely safety in numbers and rent was affordable bc not everyone wants or needs a single family home.
How about stationary. Sustainable notebooks and pens and pencils. They can go towards a program that buys Education Debt and then forgives it or offers 0% interest to give an entire generation a fricken chance. Or you could do "Awesome Bandage Club" and do the same thing with Medical Debt.
Plus size or Big and Tall sized options. It is extremely difficult to buy large button down shirts, good underwear, and etc if you are big. Many "good product" places, like meundies, don't have larger products. We are forced to either very expensive specialty sellers or crap chinese companies.
Although it doesn't really fit with their vibe/aesthetic right now, that would be so cool. Instant purchase if https://good.store comes out with anything similar
What if Good.Store supplied toothpaste, toothbrushes, vitamins. The things that are confusing, but needed, and easy to con a regular person on; Like not everyone needs to take iron, but a lot do, and why? And which is best? And why does the best cost $5 but upset my stomach? And the second best- 1/2
2/2 -Is $45 but no upset stummy. And why does toothpaste feel like I'm being scammed more than it feels like getting healthy teeth? Does charcoal do anything? Purple? Xylitol? If Good.Store told me to buy a certain floss, I would. Forever. My kids would be making their kids buy it in 2050.
Vitamins would be great! I used to follow Labdoor for their testing on vitamins and supplements, but it is getting more geared toward their own marketing and I’m not sure if they are still as reliable.
"Welcome to Bad.Store, where you can join the Awful Undies Club. These undergarments are made with a combination of 100% lemur pelt and steel wool, so you know it's bad for the environment AND your nether regions. All profits will be invested in building a death star to blow up Mars."
"Always shipped in new, nonrecyclable plastic by whichever carrier is working hardest at union busting today! Every purchase goes towards our CEO using a private jet just to watch the sunset and/or escape the latest climate-fueled disaster."
I am *always* on the hunt for Charming Little Guys, it's always the first thing clicked on and added to cart when I check out independent shops. I think it would be cool to partner with an independent ceramicist to produce 'em, so no plastics!
I’ve been burning through candles so quickly lately it’s not even funny! There’s something so vibey about just having a table full of candles, turning off the lights and watching a movie.
Bookmarks. I want to get a cool bookmark with cool art on it in the mail every month. Twelve a year would be enough to start playing with the format and functionality of them, too.
It would be cool to see some worker co-op made items on the shop. While non-profits are an admirable way to do good, I think that the worker cooperative structure is unmatched when it comes to holding a business accountable to the people it affects.
Pet treats would be nice. I am always giving them to my cats and I'm sure they would love to have a little treat arrive monthly in the mail for them, people could even post their cats (or dogs!) eating them, free promo. Extra points if the treats are healthy and ethically sourced.
Periodic tables, Earth/Mars maps, a digital globe that works like a spherical computer monitor, a timeline of the universe, a geological timeline, an ambulocetus plushie, a tree/coral of life diagram which includes viruses/viroids, a poster listing the properties of real numbers, a nuclide graph...
... anatomy diagrams, a full human body 3D puzzle, an organic chemistry diagram with ball-stick diagrams and naming conventions, a chart showing all nutrients the human body needs, including categories like carbs, aminos, nucleotides, fats, vitamins, and minerals, a poster of all amino acids, etc..
yarn! i have such a hard time finding good natural fiber yarn to crochet/knit w bc everything is synthetic now and my sensory & temp regulation issues can't take it
I second coloring books! They are the only thing that keeps me sane through endless meetings. I'd love to buy cool ones from somewhere other than Amazon.
White shirt of the month club: get one new identical nice white shirt or blouse every month so when you inevitably eat spaghetti or your baby barfs on it, you know a new identical one is on the way
this is super niche so i’m not sure it would make sense, but it’s really hard to find well-made, reasonably priced tucking underwear for trans women! would love some from good store in the same style as your other underwear 💕
I'd like to add, sensitive skin options from Sun Basin Soap. Coconut oil ruins me and I can't use any of the products, as much as I really really want to!
Also, they are small and don’t go bad! Since they don’t take up a lot of space in the warehouse, you could keep expanding the options; plain, no-tie, artist-commissioned, accessories like aglets or things. Also, maybe expand the sock selection styles/materials, even if just in solids to start?
And I thought cool clip-on aglets in fun colours and shaped. Like a flat round 1cm disc at the end of each lace. You could change them up. Add to diff shoes.
This may end up as more of a "what do people not know you already do", but:
Winter hats, scarves, gloves/mittens. Backpack or tool bag.
Hammock with cool weave or colors.
One of those Ridge wallet things, but pretty.
Useful fact book (pocket sized?)
Desk Pad.
Plain socks and unders, please!!! Seriously. I am one of those sensory people with sensitivities to light/sound/taste/smell, etc., *and* have autism & OCD. I can’t own 85 different sock designs. I just can’t. Also, basic tees, tanks, etc.—I’d happily shop Good.Store for all our replaceable basics.
This is a massive reach, but what about ethically sourced tech stuff? I'm sure computers and phones are way too much of a hassle, but what about fair trade phone cases or charging cables? I'd love to see a smart watch band with the cool designs that you see at the Awesome Socks Club.
Other clothing items - I don't really know where to start when it comes to buying clothing that's high quality, ethically produced, but not overpriced. It would also be easier to justify the high cost of such clothing to myself if all profits from it go to charity.
How about a clear mission statement? Puzzles, soap and socks? Are they helping train at risk and under employed people? Are we educating consumers on social issues like women's healthcare, union membership and right to repair? I just see a site that wants to sell me jigsaw puzzles and soap.
sauces, boxers (also more transparency on where textiles are sourced, I can't find an environmental/ethical statement on the website to this effect (though I might just be missing it))
Or more helpfully: hair ties and bobby pins and little clips. I can buy them at the store but I’d rather give that money to charity. I use a small-ish number every 2-3 months. They pair well with soap and shampoo.
My partner used to be irritated finding my bobby pins all through the house, until I told him each one was a reminder that I love him. Now we call them “I love you’s” and even my 7yo says, “mommy i found one of the I love yous! Can you put it in my hair?”
I assume you want things that are:
- consumable, so purchased regularly
- someone is not already doing well
- no huge regulatory hurdles
- plausibly sustainable
- nerd friendly
Art.
For prints, give me a frame and hook. Use your access to talented artists to help curate our spaces.
Technically neither are socks, but they are also not like suitcases or pans where you buy it once and you’re done.
Also with art you can gift it to people! It also doesn’t have to be limited to prints that was just the example I wanted to give because of the frame thing. Vases, sculptures…
The replacement rate is definitely faster than shirts or blankets but slower than tea or chips. The main purpose of the first criterion was to rule out one-and-done goods because you don’t have a sustainable customer base. Many people could buy art semi-regularly (quarterly?) w/o much issue
I love reading the bios that come with my socks. It doesn’t even always need to be prints, too! It could be a little vase or a little sculpture. Its trickier to gauge consistent demand and taste, the people involved are putting a lot of interior design trust in strangers, but what a cool gamble
Is that a subscription option already that I wasn’t aware of? Could I have made this upgrade already and be living a life of luxury? If so, they need to advertise that better
It’s a founders club option rn so secret but not really bc j&h have talked about it in vlogs I think. Seems from the reviews (and my own experience) they are not quite there yet in terms of quality and fit but working on it. Only two designers and fits rn but you can try them out!
Ohhh yes so I have those undies, I want them to go subscription when they’re ready, and then always match the socks. That way my socks can match my underwear regularly.
Was there like a time you guys did something with art? Or did you just talk about it on DHJ? I think awesome art would be so cool! Like art prints from different creators! Art subscriptions!!
1. Socks that are made out of natural fibers
2. Herbal/flavoured teas that are heavier on the "these herbs are really good" and lighter on the natural/artificial flavours (like the ginger one!)
It’s amazing how much better my work boots smell after a long day with merino socks than a long day with cotton-polyester blend. I wish it was more common knowledge how good wool is. Too many people think a thin wool sock will be too warm in summer.
truth! I wear merino socks & undies year round - they absorb moisture without getting wet plus they breath so don't get hot! it's not hard to find ethically sourced ones either! exclamation points!! 😄
Candles, bath bombs/bubble bath, additional one off merch items a la Pizzamas but for GoodStore (t shirts, hats, random little desk pets), more mug styles
Yes, but imagine if there was slightly more variety on the merch section. Mugs, especially, would make fantastic gifts for people when paired with a coffee subscription. It’s the consumer in me, I want *more*
A really good Calander for a seasonal item, links in with the mention of the Art recommendations, could run a promo event to have artists from all over submit art too. The major problem would be parameters and judgement, could make it public votes or private and have a product giveaway as reward.
Highly recommend fountain pens for a good, sustainable pen! You can refill them with ink that comes in glass bottles. I take a ton of notes on a daily basis and I’ve entirely switched over to fountain pens. Getting fun ink colors is a bonus :)
Actually sustainable toilet paper that is also legitimately good toilet paper. I’m tired of shopping for toilet paper and feeling bad and indecisive about it
the ability to get a subscriptions, like socks, but have a form to complete on where to send them every month. I would love to gift different friends my monthly socks.
To go packets (like vit c shots) of common sense. Empathy chewing gum. Give a damn gummies. Respect in hard candy form (like butterscotch disks). Cotton candy sized bags of NO is a complete sentence. I have snack drawers and candy jars to fill....
Things people need to buy, vs want. Sustainable versions of: laundry sheets, garbage bags, cleaning products, razors, hand soap refills, shampoo/conditioner bars…things that it’s a pain to resupply, or we’re ordering already from rando companies and could switch to one great place like Good.Store.
Also, small things (warehouse-friendly) like shoelaces, pens, more sock styles/materials, jewelry/accessories. Two lines: what ppl want that GoodStore does better/well, and regular stuff they could buy anywhere but would rather give their money to GoodStore for (q-tips, tp, tissues, baggies, etc.).
I love the razor idea! The Good Store could be an antidote to that ridiculous “these aren’t razors for liberal women” company by offering high-quality unisex razors. I don’t need a pink razor. I need a sharp razor. And I don’t want to pay the pink tax.
Didn’t know they already had shampoo, thought just soap. Hand soap would be great, too! I will happily switch over—anything where they can save me from buying tons of plastic, especially if it’s from 1 easy, amazing place with a win/win business model that helps people. No brainer for this mom of 6.
yes! and genuinely the best shampoo I can remember ever using. plus the ease of getting a couple delivered then switching my subscription back to tea which disappears much faster (no kids here!) or just grabbing some during the holiday sale
Boring socks. Seriously: I’d love to get my socks from you but having to choose between patterned/awesome socks is one less spoon I have for the rest of my day so I don’t. I’d love to be able to subscribe to solid black socks so some portion of my sock budget goes to supporting awesome causes.
I think PART of the store's philosophy is pairing uniqueness w/ luxury. Since people who can afford to support charities can afford luxury to some extent. HUGE SPECULATION: they might want to offer as much as they can in addition to being charitable to eek in many of the less enthusiastic altruists
That said, I do second your idea! I think it would be worth the experiment to run a limited basic collection and see if that generates new profits for charity.
What about otherwise plain black or white socks but the toes and heels are the cool designs from that month? It wouldn't matter so much if they match for choosing for the day, if that's important to you, because those parts are in your shoes. Secret geekiness just for you.
A really good way to make sustainable coffee in my Keurig machine. Yes I know Keurig machines are bad, but I already have one so wish ai could use it for good sustainable coffee, one cup at a time!
I love the good socks, but my feet get so cold. I always need fluffy socks. And the good socks tend to be thin. I tend to get merino wool but they often wear out. Id definitely buy thicker socks.
Soap without coconut and coconut derived ingredients. There's literally only one bar from Trader Joe's that I can be confident in buying and even so I'm checking the label each time for this allergen.
A distribution center in Europe so that it can make sense to buy coffee, tea and soap subscriptions without it being an expensive PITA every month to have it come into my country...
Products related to bodycare (like the soap but lotion, shaving, etc) or to house care (cleaning and such). Also consumables that are imported and hard to ethically source like chocolate or spices.
Plain/patterned socks! I like to keep a very limited wardrobe and I feel like the current designs, while beautiful for the right person, don’t fit into it.
Candles please. Maybe a one time buy for the holder and then a monthly subscription for the candle. Or a candle melt setup. You could put in a note about where the wax goes 😁
Literally everything Amazon has. Diapers, Japan snack gift basket, pants with mushrooms on them, wall paint, curtains that glow in the dark, art stencils, etc...
Spices! And soaps I'm not allergic to 😂😅 Laundry & dishwasher detergent could be neat, too, and just generally (maybe more for DFTBA than Good.Store): m a g n e t s. ✨️
I went through a whole thing recently trying to assess what sunscreen products are or are not harmful. Would be nice to buy that from a company I trusted.
I found conflicting information. I did look for the excel charts I used, but I apparently lost them. Anyway I ended up going with Blue Lizard and Babo.
Potpourri? Beefless jerky or other snacks? If food snacks need plastic, consider bags that can be reused for pet waste. Also, gift packages for occasions throughout the year
Oddly specific, but Welding Caps (larger sizes please, 8+)! There are not enough quality ones that feel good and actually help with how tight I need to make my hood, and every other design is flames or american flag 🙃🙃🙃🙃
Comments
Incidentally, I might be addicted to making new decks...
Serious answer: General clothing. Jeans, pants, button up shirts, t-shirts (not printed), etc. etc.
If there's a *real* reason... cool, I learned something. But no need to pander/spread to anti-science propaganda as if legit.
Could be called "Bee Awesome"
Razors
Amazon?
2. the will to live
3. barring the first two, a good sunscreen would be nice.
But also with the socks/ undies, to be able to receive them in batches (together & quarterly)
https://good.store/products/green-tea-bundle-new
Winter hats, scarves, gloves/mittens. Backpack or tool bag.
Hammock with cool weave or colors.
One of those Ridge wallet things, but pretty.
Useful fact book (pocket sized?)
Desk Pad.
the two yall have put out are incredible & we want more
a sock height between the ankle and crew
compression socks
snacks?
and maybe mugs.
2- scrolling down a little bit on the main page
If you want something more specific than “it goes to PIH”, then that’s a PIH question
That's high ranking on the app Yuka
I drink hot chocolate year round because I get mad cravings, and it's the easiest way to take my vitamin powder.
I currently buy whatever's fancy at the store but I'd totally buy hot cocoa from https://good.store instead.
Considering https://Good.store 's usual business strategy, that probably makes it impractical for them.
Or more helpfully: hair ties and bobby pins and little clips. I can buy them at the store but I’d rather give that money to charity. I use a small-ish number every 2-3 months. They pair well with soap and shampoo.

Art.
For prints, give me a frame and hook. Use your access to talented artists to help curate our spaces.
Or do people throw out prints seasonally?
Also with art you can gift it to people! It also doesn’t have to be limited to prints that was just the example I wanted to give because of the frame thing. Vases, sculptures…
2. Herbal/flavoured teas that are heavier on the "these herbs are really good" and lighter on the natural/artificial flavours (like the ginger one!)
+1 on the candles though that’s the big one for me
I want a good pen. I want a good notebook.
Like the socks but arm warmers.
There are plenty of hard cover notebooks but I don’t see many “keep this on me in case I need to write something down real quick” style ones
Easier to make a subscription, too!
Or maybe like, fun popcorn salt?
also +1 for hand soap especially if it's powdered/tablet and you add water yourself, no warehousing and shipping water as part of the thing
Vitamins would also be good.
I would also like to see all of your packaging recyclable or home compostable. Not commercial compostable that's just green washing
Please include the holiday one that always sells out before I get it
Also knee high socks.
-Dish washer detergent, laundry detergent
-Energy/hydration powder
-Flour/bread flour, rice, food basics
-Underwear, shirts
Fluoridated, but otherwise all-natural, toothpaste?
