When I say you don’t have to worry about microplastics in your brain I mean that there is much stronger evidence that you should be worrying about other things that you don’t ever think about, like the draining of peatlands for agriculture, and things that you think about all the time, like fascism.

But you don’t know how many pens I chewed to bits all through my school career, well into adulthood

The main issue with degradable plastics is contamination of recycling chain so need to be readily detected.
i can't change or do anything about either so why worry about it?
i can only hope I will vote and support those who can change it.

(On a serious note though, I totally get whatchu mean)
Women are tired.
Wouldn’t need to worry so much if we elected qualified people rather than political shysters.
Or if SCOTUS hadn't interfered with Gord… We would be so much farther ahead of this climate ish.
The problem isnt we worry too much, it’s that there are too many things worth worrying about.
It wasn't so much that she was disinformed to the point of being dead wrong on the subject, it was that she wasn't worried about the chemicals she inhaled directly from smoking.
Who doesn't want to attribute a bad day to the microplastics in your balls?
that does raise the question though, like is it worth it for us to stress about everything and also microplastics and red 40 and peat bogs?
just sounds a little dismissive i guess
Restoring natural waterways and drainage systems of forepeoples through upending detrimental societal and industrial systems? ✨Posh✨

We like to update, and say ‘move this to max importance’ or ‘demote this to min importance’. Confirming that importance is just as medium as expected is somehow borderline impossible.

With about 20 waking hours, I think I have enough time to worry about all of it.
Very good paper last year. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2309822
I've read claims that it is much more resistant to breaking down in sunlight and that it doesn't leach harmful chemicals like plastics do.
There’s a brand of scicommer that seems very into “debunking chemphobia.” We’ve seen this before. They almost always end up having industry affiliations and never turn out to be on the right side of history.
Mitigate exposure. Like install a reverse osmosis water system. There are new and emerging technologies that can help with microplastic clean up.
Clearly you excel at triva vs actual education
The thing is, it's not even remotely true.

It would be poetic though to find a connection between microplastics and autism, what would RFK Jr do then? Use the government to attack Big Plastics?
If only a MAGA corp was the cause!
"More worried about the lead and mercury..."
So please give me links to support your position about the plastic.
I keep seeing articles about it.
Then I saw the landfill, where it all goes.
Mark my words, people will be opening those up and remediating them in centuries to come.
...I mean, most likely, as there is something very wrong with these people, but brain damage does not explain everything.
Super smart guy, AP everything, went to school for CS on scholarship.
This is definitely what happened to RFK
rewilding peatlands and grasslands is such a (relatively) easy win for climate change
there's so much despair around but there is actually quite a lot that we can do if we could just get on and get it done! despair is the enemy
And we can do a lotl to limit the effects of the damage we have done, but we can’t keep up with the ongoing rate of harm. That implies major changes to how we produce goods and energy.
All very doable - but less profitable.
Nevertheless it's personalised 😆
No point in making it worse, just like GHG pollution
Slack jaw and everything.
Join us, Hank!
Don’t mind if I do!
Ahhhhhhhhh
It’s the microplastics lie that reprograms us all: “Do not fear the monster under the bed, fear the monster inside your head.”
The text limit was a factor ;)
and here I was hoping to I'd make it to 50 to slip, fall, and slide under the ice on one of the great lakes to never be seen again.
The best you can do is reduce your exposure to plastics. I started 20 years ago.
It doesn’t go away just because other dumpster fires are smoldering and blazing.
Pretending it doesn’t exist as an existential threat or being tired of hearing about it in the news cycle hampers awareness, delays action, makes consequences worse, & renders amelioration harder.
We CAN still do things about fascism!
Just like taking lead out of gasoline. It wasn't about the people who were already poisoned. It was about their kids.
covid quietly destroying everyone's immune systems and organs
extreme climate increasingly destroying lives and homes
popular fascism will accelerate both exponentially
and we worry about microplastics?
