a middle-aged friend of mine who runs his own company told me that his young gen-z employees staged an intervention like christopher moltisanti and told him he has to stop wearing slim fit pants

Yep well I was boss of a big company. Inadequate people always find stuff to complain about instead of working. Why would anyone care about the bosses clothes?? Not enough work to do?
I've had the pleasure of a working life where all of my bosses have run their businesses for the benefit of the employees as much as their own. A good working atmosphere and a sense of hard work being appreciated is why the best people will stay even when a better deal comes along.
You can always leave and go somewhere better. As a former owner of a company I found the ones who complained were always, always inadequate at the job.
Wow I can tell you’re really really passionate about this! And btw you know what? I’m just grateful you took the time to share this. Wishing you all the best and a big dose of happiness! Take care and don't forget to mask up to mitigate covid! ☺️
This is such bullshit. As an employee it makes life so much better for everyone when you can actually get along. My current manager cares about us and has our backs, but also pushes us as necessary. A good working relationship is give and take.
So many of these replies made me belly laugh, but at the end of the day, as a 45 yo mom, I find the thought of attempting to dress in the fashion of 20 year olds pretty funny. I yam what I yam, kiddos. Move on!
Me too. Giant wide leg jeans. Brought me right back to memory of the pink wide leg pants I wore at 8 yrs old. My momma made them for me. Loved those pants.
That’s working for me. I prefer one style that fits pretty tightly through the thighs and then flares into a boot cut. And guess what, they’re coming into style!
Banging my head. Making a parody of a post WWII poem by Martin Niemöller is just sad. Its words are just as true today as then. Intellectuals and ministers ignoring the Nazis rise to power until it was too late.
My millennial men men colleagues mostly wear slim fit pants and the undergrads have been roasting them. Would be funny if I didn’t have a Gen Z son who wears pants that look like balloons. Wear what you want. Someone is going to make fun of you.
'JNCO, short for "Judge None Choose One", is a Los Angeles, California-based clothing company specializing in boys' and men's jeans. "JNCO was founded in 1985. The brand gained recognition in the 1990s with its boys' ultra-wide straight legged denim jeans.'
Yeah, not taking fashion advice from the post ironic generation. The generation that's chronically dressed like dorks with Grandma pants and middle parts.
It's like the one librarian that wore a lot of brown and flares with a big prog rock beard, in 1987. It was that long out of date, but it was jarring. His name was Martin, RIP, he was incredibly patient with 8 year old me, but my God, he needed a clothing intervention.
Yes. Either wear a jacket or vest with good pockets or carry a bag. There are lots of options these days too. A lot of urban men have been doing it for a long time!
Women's jackets tend to have barely functional pockets too. A cropped jacket wouldn't work and sometimes all I'm wearing underneath is a bra so can't open it. A longer jacket with inside pockets might. I always carry a handbag and have different styles and sizes for the job.
I have a coat with lots of big pockets and a messenger bag and have done so for at least a decade. The only thing that should go in a trouser pocket is maybe a handkerchief.
In our defence, we actually just asked him for a new toaster and a daily supply of avocados in the break room. The fact that he was wearing slim fit pants at the time was coincidental.
Along with the oversized shirts that are too short and the bushy curly hair on top but shaved short on sides and back. They look like my sophomore English teacher in 1987
What! No I adore this, I survived baby tees & low cut jeans & wearing no socks in winter & I am ready to be wearing comfortable shoes with the socks pulled up to my neck, thank you!
I went to elementary school with kid whose mom made him wear matching homemade twinsets out of, like, toddler curtains fabric. One day was all tractors, next was songbirds, then gingerbread houses. You get the idea.
Was it cute? Yes
Did we still mock him for it all through high school? Also yes
Lol. I wear grandpa core clothes at home just to be comfy. No way I'm looking like that in the streets. Unless I want to look like a curmudgeonly professor eating a bagel and coffee.
I work on cruise ships and I'm suddenly seeing young women in ensemble outfits that, except for the fabrics, look like they came from the middle of the 20th century. At 63, it looks very old fashioned to me. At 23, I'm sure it's cutting edge. ;)
I wonder which generation will be evolved enough to realise we should stop policing what clothes other people wear. If you like it, wear it, and to hell with anyone who thinks it doesn't "look good."
Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! - Amen! As soon as I stepped into that confidence, I started getting tons of compliments, and cat calls. I only thrift clothes or conversely, accept clothing as gifts from friends. My neighbor downstairs is into it. She's bought new dresses for me that are very flattering.
My daughter, Sabrine, needs your support🍉🇵🇸💔🍼❤️ to meet her essential needs during these challenging times of war. Your help will also empower me to continue assisting other children affected by the conflict.
Every contribution brings new hope and a better future.
Been a high waist full-cut pleated trouser holdout since the 00s. Never got into slim fit for two reasons 1) looks uncomfortable AF. 2) Silhouette and drape! They just work better esp. as a matching suit for a streamlined top-down look. May also explain my affinity for classic English-cut tailoring.
Not people actually upset about what I presume was a silly moment shared between a favoured boss and his employees??? The internet is so wild sometimes. Lmao
@dieworkwear.bsky.social has revitalized mens fashion. Inspired me to also stray away from the slim pants to the straight leg or relaxed. I do still find that a lot of the companies that sell pants seem to be pushing the slim look pretty hard still.
The thing that always got me about "Just For Men" ads was "the colors women use take a long time to apply, this is super fast"...like, you think the other product might be slower for a reason? What, is this the ink from a Sharpie or something? Is it that only men would accept this crap?
The just for men commercial where the guy sees a couple women he wants to talk to so he runs into the bathroom and paints his beard black to go talk to them kills me
The name itself is Ironic as fuck too. Like of course it is "Just for men" no one else would be stupid enough to think running to a bathroom and obviously sloppily and drastically changing your appearance would help you get anyone's attention outside of thinking you are unhinged.
Exactly. The whole thing is fucking ridiculous not to mention a lot of people think a little grey looks good. Just leave your shit alone and be graceful about yourself
I grew a beard years ago to look older as I have a young face. Then, it started getting grey and then I was like, “wait a minute. this is working too well!!”
I am not sure if they actually want that. If the middle-aged dads all switch over to looser fits and smooth silhouettes, the kids will almost certainly stop doing that. The kids *need* us to be uncool.
I went on a date with a guy who showed up in skinny jeans, I had a great time but his pants really did give me pause. FF 16 yrs we are married, jeans are gone and I am his official fashion consultant.
Im trying really hard not to be Old but every Gen Z fashion trend repulses me. The center part, the baggy pants...terrible. I refuse to alter my look to better look like Bobby Briggs.
It may be a question of body type. Some men have very portly builds with skinny legs and slim fits make them look like they are some kind of wingless bird.
If your body is proportional, it probably looks fine.
So… we’re going back to pleats - Also, not a fan of skinny jeans/pants either - you know it’s bad when you can tell if someone’s been circumcised or not
Wear what you want although I do agree not all styles and tastes are up to scratch. It all depends.
I tend to wear smart stuff but also casual. Sometimes a low cut top and rah rah skirt. I can wear skinny jeans but only with a structured jacket and calf length boots otherwise it doesn't work.
Gonna be honest here… as a child of the 90s there was an intervention staged with me at my place of employment to stop wearing low rise jeans 😂. I’m not a big fan of the super high ones because of food digestion but I now regularly make and wear my jeans above my belly button.
*imagining Paulie Walnuts getting angry describing how the jeans aren’t flattering*
It’s your PROFILE, kid it ain’t no good! No it don’t flatter your thighs you useless prick!
Not unless the gen z's stop wearing their high waisted wide leg light denim retro jeans. Looked horrible in the 80 and 90s and still looks horrible now. Sorry kids
This is an actual question tho — what if you’re older but still in shape and actually look good in them? Is this about not fitting into them properly? Or just simply about age? As an in shape gay man I think my style needs differ slightly from my straight comrades lol
Slim fit pants on men aren't bad, but then they cram all this crap in the pockets and look like idiots.
And of course, if you're over 40, slim fit doesn't work too well...
PS: Not all GenX parents are shitty - never my intent here. But GenZ clueless young adults were raised by GenX parents in most cases (yes a few boomers with kids in older age too) - so this reflects on their up-bringing
I’m all in on work pajamas but I have enough sense not to think they’re a fashion. Gen Z is cool and all but their fashion sense is underdeveloped #notallGenZ

Is the company successful and do they pay staff at the end of the week or month?
Everything else is nonsense including his slim fit pants
Pay should always be at the top. But wellbeing, respect etc for the employees to say a few are very important too.
Clearly that will never be your problem. You only think of what you can grab.
Skinny jeans are just more comfortable. So oh https://well.lol
“Sil—“
“I said my piece.”
One of the funniest scenes.

They never even really left
Then they came for the avocado toast, and I did not speak out—because I don't eat avocados.
Then they came for my skinny jeans —and there was no one left to speak for me.
Web applications 😒😒
Side parts 😒😒😒
Wimps.
Took me back to the mid 1990's
I smiled
Nobody Cares.
More proof that that’s
NONSENSE.

Never take fashion tips from Gen Z.
Was it cute? Yes
Did we still mock him for it all through high school? Also yes
I should also clarify: my guy was like 11 or 12 before it stopped
Nothing says love like an intervention
Glad they’ve come around.
Every contribution brings new hope and a better future.
“We can tell!”
Because let's face it, we know he's... "compensating".
My guy, gasping for breath: Front
If your body is proportional, it probably looks fine.

Use if the correct tense is so important.
It’s your PROFILE, kid it ain’t no good! No it don’t flatter your thighs you useless prick!
Slim and skinny cut pants = great, better if tapered
Not sure why all this baggy nonsense is trending, it's a waste of a good physique
Uniqlo stopped carrying the best jeans of all time (skinny tapered ultra-stretch) in favor of baggy stuff and it's a tragedy
And of course, if you're over 40, slim fit doesn't work too well...
