You can be a very successful loser Democrat. From funding campaigns to being a consultant for other Dems nonprofits that pay you handsomely. To becoming an MSNBC contributor or “analyst”.
And if you’re in power there’s insider trading, deals for donors, all sorts of ways to live very comfortably.
It was pathetic how my boomer parents had NO REPLY to me pointing out the utter failure of the Dems having no abortion rights legislation ready to fire the DAY after Roe was overturned.
“Uhhh but it was settled precedent, we didn’t need—“ WHAT WE COULDN’T SHIT OUT THINKTANK LEGISLATION IN A DAY?
Nah haven't you been listening? It's the voters' fault. Individual citizens, who have virtually no power, should have done more to fight by voting into power people who never fight (except when actively sabotaging those who actually inspire support to their side). 🙂
they have the amount of power they want (a selection of congressional and senate seats even they struggle to lose, handed over to their party favourites when the holder finally dies) and that's it. a job for life and a fundraising platform. no interest in actual governing.
careful, the libs love to lecture us on how ackshually, it’s not the democrats fault and that we’re wrong to blame them! liberals are rarely more passionate than when they’re trying to find ways to absolve dems of any wrongdoing
Or the country is more conservative than you believe & a significant number of billionaires can outmessage any political party/small donor movement thanks to citizens united & control of corporate media.
They do. At least for now. It’s easier to point at a pile of bodies that the repubs caused and the Dems didn’t stop, point at the pile and say “we’ll speak for those who can’t” (because we silenced them and ignored their deaths) dead bodies don’t complain.
They're the public relations department of the far right. They've spent 8 years and 3 election cycles funding the fascists and moving right as fast as possible. Either they are the dumbest people on Earth or they are working together.
It's easier to fundraise when they're not in power, and their primary goal is laundering donor money to the consultants who run the party. Amy McGrath spending $80 million to lose by double-digits was considered a success and has now become the model for the presidential campaign
I’m ngl man, I’ve never felt this genuinely hopeless before. The worst people have just been given full control of everything they will use it to destroy 100 years of progress and limit 100 more, and the people who are supposed to helps us are useless. I’ve never been this suicidal…
Those in control of the Democratic Party certainly appear to be collaborating to ensure the oligarchy's control. Please see the books and articles of Sarah Kendzior.
I checked the other site and Democrats (The Harris supporters) were railing against populism and saying it's dumb and unimportant. I wanted to tear my hair out.
And you can't tell them shit. Because the minute you do, it's "how dare you criticize the Dems. They're trying their best. They have the most experience than you progressives".
"Why don't you try criticizing republicans instead!" It's like, if I'm watching a basketball game, and one of the players on my team completely blows his assignment on defense and gives up a layup. Am I going to blame the guy on the other team who made the layup, or the guy on my team who let him?
I would honestly find American politics kinda funny (in a jfc why the fuck are they like this kinda way) if not for the fact that they indirectly affect me too
The tools the existing Democrats have, be they rhetorical or legislative, are artifacts of the early Reagan era which leave them completely vulnerable to being outflanked by opponents who simply ignore conventional terms of engagement.
In certain situations they lose to run on shit. They don’t challenge certain senators in serious ways to raise money off of it nationally. They ran on abortion rights because they thought they could raise more money on the issue than just solving the problem in office.
yep. i like to put it as: the dems may or may not literally be trying to lose, but if you assume they are, you'll predict their actions a lot more accurately than somebody who assumes they're trying to win
I suggested this about the Alaska Dems after watching them Face-Rake nonstop in 2016, including one time when party staffers started attacking one of their own candidates like 3 weeks before the election.
see but THAT I get. I mean I don't like it but its not a surprise to me - that's just what a shitty, rich good 'ol boys club is like.
what makes me lose my sense of reality is the army of 62 year old's who are just like "top form! we'll get 'em next time for sure!' every single disastrous election
They want to win elections if they can but not actually defeat anyone or anything. The only enemy they'll recognize are people telling them they need to have an enemy.
They want to create enclaves they control Where people pay out the noise to get in where they can buy back their rights. They're dumb enough to think Republicans will honor the arrangement.
It’s more of a balancing act than that, imo, because it’s not what they want — one-party states are great for all of fifteen minutes before you get Corporately Eaten by the state, which is famously not great for profits. They want two firmly right parties, so what they want is Dems who arent
They repeatedly face a choice: Actually push for issues that would help them win, or court their mega-rich donors. And they pretty much always choose the latter. They only need to win often enough to hedge out any actual progressives, and that way they assure the $$$ keeps rolling in.
Yeah, this is the dog of last resort for them, right, where anyone questioning “Hey it sure seems like you’re stupid on purpose” can be met with “But I CARE about it, how could I be stupid on purpose if I CARE!?!?!” as if there aren’t degrees to the question, it’s just a binary yes/no
calling them incompetent suggests that they are not achieving their desired outcomes. they've been very successful at beating down the left and enriching themselves.
I think they really don't care that much bc the politicians already have $ and comfort. Their asses are not on fire, so it's up to us alone to fight for our rights.
the kentucky democratic party has been about as inept, and has been that way since _before_ I started voting in 2002. I need to be convinced that the kdp doesn't secretly likes having addison mitchell mcconnell and the libertarian opt-famologist as senators.
I know a fellow job security guard after working years in IT support and the Dems are the best of the best.
Liberals seeing them as fallen warriors defeated at the partisan line is getting funnier every year.
I just remembered how good their “weird” campaign was, then they scrapped it as quick as they could, in the same year Not Like Us came out, where the world was yelling “certified pedophile” every other day
I do believe that.
The leaders made their money and a rising progressive party would come after them eventually if they ever came to power, to claw back their stolen wealth and influence and so they instead help Republicans win to maintain their own financial holdings. Thus avoiding responsibility

(You're a big account, sure, but that's remarkable engagement.)
Do Dems have any fucking idea how universally despised they are? Even shitlibs 🙋 turning on them should be a huge 🚨.
And if you’re in power there’s insider trading, deals for donors, all sorts of ways to live very comfortably.

They're not like us.
It's up to the people to defend America now.
American politics make me want to die.
That, and because the leadership of the party are ALSO rich ghouls, who want most of what the GOP wants. It's all a rigged game.
Besides, the DNC chair was this guy: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaime_Harrison#Career
They want to win a hallucinated centrist voter that just so happens to align with their donors' interests.
Like, when I don't want Republicans to win, I simply vote for the Democratic candidate
Billionaires control all the major media.
This has nothing to do with strategy, policy or accomplishments.
Dems could cure cancer and the common cold, and get shit on for it.

Scary thing is I’m pretty sure the “light” that rises to meet the MAGA “darkness” will come from this anarchical leftist faction.
Let’s hope your team are ready to govern/lead when a Country turns its red and lonely eyes to you.
