There was a Chinese tour group there when I first went to view it. Couldn’t get near enough at all. I also discovered then how very different are the Chinese and American conceptions of personal space.
When I went to the Louvre in 2014, I remember there was almost a stampede next to that fake painting (it's not the original DaVinci folks. The curators keep it stashed away to prevent a theft). Dumb tourists can't tell anyway.
Yeah, it's like Costco checking your receipt as you exit. They just aren't demonstrating any trust in their customers, are they? Just because others steal, doesn't mean we have, right? s/c
I finally went to the Louvre last summer and was kind of disappointed in it, place just feels like a Lowe’s for art through the centuries (if not for the really magnificent architecture of the building itself).
Also took a blurry tiny picture of the Mona Lisa in a throng of tourists, as is custom.
While this is pretty cool, with older art especially there is, of course, the degradation issue to consider. Light is very damaging, as is humidity, etc.
My daughter is a student at Denison University and helps manage just such a program. Mostly it is professors borrowing for their offices is my understanding.
You can’t borrow this one either but it’s easily accessible, practically hiding in a gallery full of religious paintings in Parma. I couldn’t believe it when I stumbled across it. Better than Lisa.
I don't know if it's still in the same gallery, but when I saw it I turned around to one of the most majestic paintings ever. Paulo Veronese's "The Wedding Feast at Cana."
I remember the day, when it was so, so, so easy to see to be with the Mona Lisa, relatively speaking. Especially for artists. I received my arts education when I worked as a nanny in Paris, and went to museums on my off hours, critical in the development for my own sense of purpose as a creative.

Can you pay for the bond.
To many semen stains.
But then some stupid janitor ruined it for everyone when he borrowed the Mona Lisa, kept it past its due date, and then refused to return it.
Now nobody gets to borrow it anymore….

Very disappointed.
Go and see Renoir's 'Boating Party'. That's incredible.
Rent to own
Not that great.
The saying a couple bad apples ruin it for everyone is always true
