Hm... no peer-reviewed studies show a benefit (several show no diffrence) and the NFL has not released data they claim shows a reduction in concussions.
Yeah, as someone who reported fairly extensively about the previous generation of attempts at “safer” helmets and accessories, the next study I see that shows actual, tangible safety differences vs. regular helmets will be the first
Eh, so much of what they do is about optics. They’ve already instituted teaching the rugby tackle in USA Football, but I don’t see them moving to something that might look visually less safe to the casual viewer
Worth mentioning that getting rid of the salary cap is how Trump destroyed the USFL. Which is to say I can absolutely seeing it happen again when private equity starts running an NFL team.
I know they didn't score any TDs but Justin Fields looked better than I expected last week. Do you think he improves any or are the Steelers just going to try to win off defense and Chris Boswell's foot for the rest of the season?
Brock seems like a good guy. I've just learned people who are spoiled their entire life for athletic excellence usually aren't great people. But there has to be some.
To combine this with other questions I see popping up, does the lackadaisical attitude the NFL has towards player safety prevent international expansion? As Americans we’re pretty inured to seeing awful sights like Tua on Thursday but are people in other countries? How much does that limit interest?
What’re the odds the NFL adds at least one more game to the season in the next few years, consequences be damned? Does it eat up a “preseason” week, or do they just start playing even earlier?
I’ve met some really dumb people that somehow still understand every tiny obscure rule in the NFL. Could we/should we use football as a general education platform and could we improve our country in doing so?
AFC North in a walk. A murderer or rapist is the flagship player on every team but thr Bengals, who are more of a sampler of psychos and cheap-shot artists.
is the league serious about overseas expansion? the exhibition games are bigger and bigger every year, the tottenham stadium was built to hold one - but will London ever realistically get an NFL team?
I maintain there are really only 3-4 guys in the world who can really be the pocket QB everyone clamors for. The best coaches understand this and build their passing game around play action, screens, and moving the QB out of the pocket.
Also, there are only 3-4 good coaches as well. And KC has both
When does the Saints cap fuckery catch up with them and what’s your best guess of what happens to that roster when it does? (e.g. does Carr end his career as a Saint, etc.)
that's such an interesting question. maybe a rise in the number of elite American athletes in other sports..like the "LeBron could have played TE" but more frequently. no clue how it might affect the NFL itself though
Thanks.
It just seemed they were doing that to the Celtics...? I mean six out of seven of the "top guys" picked the Mavericks? Probably will affect the NFL as well.
Obviously Tua needs to retire, but for the Dolphins, they won't be in a position to get a first round QB. I don't believe anyone can succeed in AZ, should the Dolphins trade for Murray?
Boston Media reports that Mac Jones has the QB job whenever there is even a hint of an opening (MIA, MIN). Is he going anywhere but behind Lawrence this year?

So perhaps "maybe and yes"

Certainly a trade-off as the hits will be a bit slower/softer but then you can also see faces, hair cuts, etc. which would be good for marketing.
In other words, how do we balance the expectation of raw, rookie talent vs veteran skill(but in a possible weak-pass offense)?
I drafted Jordan Mason and am trying to figure out if I should ride this wave or trade while his stock is high.
