For years I’ve watched feminists try and raise awareness about the unrestricted mass influence of incel culture, Andrew Tate, and reactionary misogynistic rhetoric. And now some Dems are saying the problem is identifying “toxic masculinity” too much. I actually think it’s the opposite!
Comments
just like they swung feminist when they thought it was popular. They watch tv, they eat food, they vote, and they are oblivious. they are absolutely a huge part of the problem
#BoycottRepublicanMen
Pass it on...to your kids and everyone else you can. It should be an inviolate ethos.
Boys don’t consume thousands of hours of content by influencers like Tate because it makes them feel bad. Give them something that feels good, in a healthy way, or they will binge on the right’s junk.
The democrats as a party aren’t doing this
Even in standard interactions with men I don’t know I often sense how much they don’t like me
I’m old and a nuisance or worse
For analytics purposes.
I am a major critic of Allie Beth Stuckey.
Here's the world's richest man and sex trafficker Tate again to demonstrate that bonding:

If anything it’s like ask for consent and don’t be an asshole to women. That should not be difficult
I see this all over gen z social, and it's all just network effect! Like not at all linked to actual left messaging or leaders.
That disconnect is the issue.
So are we going to have to "Ophelia Project" this intervention for boys or do you think there's a way to cut through the ragey feedback loop with cool progressives?
this sounds like i'm being sarcastic but I'm not.
We are getting violence and backlash for a reason. Shutting up won’t fix it

It’s easier to lease a ‘23 i5 and say you’re living the best life.
Old misogynists (racists, etc.) have less time on the planet to do harm. The young ones are all-in via Rogan, Tate, etc., and just getting started.
Whereas older bigots have money and power and are using them right now.
So I wouldn't mock you but I don't know if the framing is that useful.
it's wild how we've confused "material excess" with "good person"
I think too, for incel-trolls, they're told there's no love. there's no joy. there's just war video games and porn. making money to buy things for status and hating women who take your money.
Stop blaming us Latinos foe whites issues
You are regurgitating a narrative and now lying that you didn't say that.

not sure what the solution is yet
The solution, sadly, is capitalism. There are so many of the Tate clones out there because they're making tons of money off of the page clicks/engagement.
We need to draw those eyeballs (and $) elsewhere.
I think this sort of framing isn't as helpful.
The driving heart of the fascist movement is brainwashing and radicalizing the these undercooked young men.
Shaming the fish in the barrel for being hit by shot seems to be missing the point.
When a man gets upset every time he's not in absolute control of a person or situation, it might be more effective to point out that he's being "weak" rather than "toxic."
Maybe not, but hey... worth a shot.
These arbitrary ideas must be challenged.
If you change the reasoning to "the bible said so" they're happy.
Democrats and pseudo-Republicans aren't playing the same game. Democrats need to go on the offense in the same manner. Virulence and no pity. The cancer needs to be excised.
Take The Bible imported from #Levant and how people in the USA read and how #ToxicClergy teach it, without verse "1 John 3:17" and verse Romans 11:32.
What we lack are voices who do these things and also show young men how not to be shitty. We cede the conversation to the shitheads.
But then, many many women play videos games

Quite a turn around from the '90s huh..
Same with trans rights, where the gop have convinced people it's Shirley Temple vs. the Denver Broncos.
Did you read the comment?
Any term that creates a knee-jerk reaction of offense or distaste, fails to become popularly accepted.
So as a result a lot of those young men think that it's a rejection of them as men in general.
I have ideas but they're not fleshed out in any way. It's a gross problem dealing with maladjusted freaks.
Raising awareness and educating people is super important. It is okay to have feelings and beating up people is not masculine or cool, yet men are told the opposite.
Meanwhile, a friend's daughter came home and said there were boys at school chanting, "Your Body, My Choice"
So where was the overreaction again?
average person has felt marginalized. The language of marginalization is a key register
for authoritarians.
Where's Susan Faludi when you need her? I remember reading Backlash.
1. Identify what makes it toxic
2. Present an alternative
That's how you defeat it, otherwise you make people feel guilty about existing and they lash out.
That in itself is toxic masculinity at work, the angry response men have to an honest assessment. To be beyond critique, to not even entertain the notion that everyone should always be introspective and striving to improve.
Imagine if there was a genuine alternative.
However, the presence of right is strong in most the areas men are in. To the point it's normal. It's very easy to weaponise feminist retric as bigotry.
At the same time though, Democratic elites have refused to copy the right's institution building in many other areas.
Tate et al provide a destructive but easily-adopted answer to all the insecurities installed by patriarchy.
Compassionate masculinity is less clickbaity, so it doesn't really drive engagement. At least, I haven't seen anyone do it.
Young radicalized men hate him because he showcases that their worldview is pure bullshit. They don't want to admit they've been conned.
White women continue to stay off the hook for perpetuating misogyny. More of them voted for him than Latino men voted AT ALL.
That Nicolle Wallace and Rebecca Traister and Mary Trump and Liz f***ing Cheney haven't publicly looked in the mirror...yeah
The only way it is at the ‘expense’ of men is that they can’t be assholes and get opportunities just for being a dude (they absolutely still get both thes)
Until the worst among them are continuously broadcast as the standard for "the right," things will only get worse.
This is the natural by-product of what happened with Reagan, the fruits of the labor of the Southern strategy.
Normalizing toxicity. Making that the status quo instead of extreme.
We can decide what it is and isn't, and we've decided that toxic masculinity is something to aspire to, rather than something to shun.
(not out of line with our history tho)
We've only been this or worse. We just have a clearer understanding of where we really are if we have the courage to see it clearly.
This time. 🙄
And given Dem leaders' rhetoric, only way to go is up unless they wanna keep working the relative shovels of reaching down to garbage.
The dems once again did not do anywhere near enough when in power.

I’m SO tired of screaming that my life is in danger and being ignored.
Is there a toxic and false masculinity from incel culture? Yes. But the phrase itself is now toxic.
Men are very easy to boycott so I encourage others to join me
