I tried to see if I could schedule an appointment to get a REAL ID in Massachusetts for after I get back to the U.S. on April 20th, and naturally, there’s nothing available.
This will go great.

Oh, of course the Trump administration freaks are going to finally try to push through REAL ID enforcement with predictably chaotic results.

They still might expect me to flash my birth certificate when I vote, but at least I also have the Real ID (which you need a birth certificate for)
A green card can be used as a Real ID document. You don’t need to go get a state issued one.
For us it was WAY cheaper than a Real ID.
I got my REAL ID through the DMV. It’s not the same level of time and effort as a passport and I think a lot of folks are confused.
I have no intention of getting a real id until my DL expires because because my passport has a later expiration date.
FWIW, don't use your Z-Card

All permanent licenses issued in Georgia after 2012 are REAL ID Compliant. To verify you have a Real ID document, check the upper right-hand corner of your License/ID for either a:
Black Star or Gold Star
(From the Ga DDS website)
You need to present original or certified copies of documents proving your identity, social security number (if needed), and residency.
