I'm a 12-minute drive from there. if I thought I could do anything to help, I'd go. but I know I can't. so I have to just sit and wait for the news to develop, knowing that it's possible someone will get hurt.
You might not be able to go and protest with them but that doesn't mean you can't help.
You can check if there's a legal fund to assist any protester that gets arrest. If an mutual aid groups are helping keep the protesters fed.
You can call your local representatives to tell them how you feel.
I could make Suggestions on how to help involving the insane gun laws of the US but that migth be interpreted as inappropriate and advertising actions that could be considered to be of a terrorist-like nature

All protestors have now been removed by police from the former UT Austin encampment, dozens arrested, some have sought medical attention because of the heat (via Lily Kepner, Austin American-Statesman)
At one point they were blocking legal observers. Several unconscious people zip-tied and carried away with medics begging police to let them treat obvious heatstroke.
Texas is well known as not having a geologic make-up that's favorable for rocks. They must have been imported from Colorado, where they have an entire mountain range made of them.
This is almost exactly what the commander of the Ohio National Guard claimed to find at Kent State (he would later upgrade it to "grapefruit -sized" rocks and even for hydrants) which was eventually proven to be the obvious lie that it was. Next we'll see claims of snipers on the rooftops
Hearing reports that there are unusually large branch-like objects scattered across the area, as if they were suspiciously placed in close proximity to trees
Strategically placed…by the UT gardeners? I feel like we need a picture of this since I’ve previously heard police describe what was a shipment of bricks for a construction project for a business “a huge pile of bricks by Antifa”
Reminds me of the video from San Francisco of the Police dropping piles of rocks/bricks after they swept an area. I forget which protest they were trying use as an excuse to violate civil rights.
Oh I’d bet, had a protestor been opening carrying an AR-15 around campus, that gun laws would suddenly spring up, fully formed from the foreheads of each trooper
The part of me that doesn't worry about consequences wants very much to know how the police would react if several dozen of the protesters were legally carrying firearms.
A) They have used actual physical violence against Jewish students.
B) Threatening / intimidating Jewish students isn't acceptable either, they deserve to have a safe campus.
I can't quite tell, but did they seriously grab their rifles and hold them in a ready position?! That seems like an even more extreme escalation than last week.
I think those are clubs—I mean, batons and this is how they create a pushing phalanx to move in until they find an excuse to start clubbing people. [simpsons-we-club-people-with-it.gif]
Gotcha. In both of the above photos, there is a person on the left holding something that looked like a rifle to me, but it's too pixelated to tell. I expect batons, as rifles would be a wild and deadly expansion of force here.
The entire time I attended UT in the late 80s, there was a student-built anti-apartheid shanty on the west mall, and administrators and police just left it alone and nothing happened.
And once again I'm shaking my head at how the overreaction by admin and the cops is now the top cause of all of this. They coulda' just let it go, but nope they had to show 'em who's boss. And now here we are.

Or that may have been another campus, now that I think about it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s here too.
