If you genuinely wish to view the video of my Oprah appearance, and extremely blocky version of it is up on Vimeo here:

I am on the episode to refute the women who wrote "The Rules," and I will note that my marriage has lasted longer than at least one of theirs.

This is what I hate about all of that "get dates by pretending to be someone different" advice. You will never find the weirdo who synchs with your weird by faking who you are, and a lifetime of fakery sounds exhausting.
Also, is it rude to ask when John gets involved? I’m really not sure I want to invest in an entire episode of Oprah…
Re: Oprah - around the 20 minute mark.
I enjoyed the way he put up his hand to speak rather than just talking over everyone…

The book was published in 1995. Next year is the 30th anniversary.
Please recreate that look for Hugos next year as an homage to this. The sweater and collared shirt, the glasses, all of it.
I really like your comment about how there need to be rules, but they should be set by the couple within the relationship. Because that's what any relationship is (business, familial, sexual, emotional, etc) negotiating. Finding the win/win.
When word got around that the advice did more harm than good, it slowed down.
