It's incredible how terrifying kids movies were. Someone was just talking about Pinocchio and the part about the prison camp that turned boys into donkeys.
It seems terrifying kids into good behavior was a thing.
I saw The Exorcist at age 8, Jaws at 10, and The Omen at 11, so Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was not too scary for me. The pale, greasy-haired, long-nosed guy who kidnapped the kids was very creepy though.
An entire generation of us, concussed from launching off that thing onto our heads on the driveway....I had a Mickey mouse one, if I recall correctly. The most fun!
You were allowed to bring yours outside? Somehow, we could only use ours inside the house in the playroom and living room on Christmas when we got them.
