I recognize this as the bus station right next to the convention center as my hotel I stayed up for vacation this last week is right next to convention center. I would walk past the bus stop in order to get to the metro. I also took a photo of this billboard. Literally just got home today.
You'd think with all those fundraising texts and emails they send out there might be a special fund to pay for billboards like these in purple states across America...
They try to make you feel guilty if you don’t donate, but I want to know WHY they need the money and where it ends up. Especially when I can’t see a reason they would need money for their particular cause. They never tell you that part. Some of them have the nerve to ask for a $100 donation! 🤬
There are billboards like this in 10 red states. Canadians are only too happy to help educate Americans on how tariffs really work, if the White House won't do it...because they don't seem to understand tariffs themselves.

Tariffs are paid by the IMPORTER, so no problem for consumer, right??? EXCEPT: importers must raise prices to where the public can’t afford to buy, sales go down, profit goes down, and they have to cut back on the workforce and… Oh, WAIT!!! EVERYBODY pays except Trump and his oligarchic allies!!!
Canadian here-Because less is better and the Canadian Govt is good at messaging that. We are a multi lingual country as well as a melting pot of cultures. In my opinion, money well spent in a foreign country.

I wish Democrats would constantly do issue-based rapid reaction ads like this, rather than trying to shove $1 billion into a couple months once every 4 years.
Kind of waste of money honestly. DC is a highly educated city and is aware of what Trump is doing. Hell, we have front row seats and no one to pressure in Congress.

As s.o. mentioned there are a lot of tourists in DC now (cherry blossoms are in full bloom) and based on remarks from other posters it seems these ads are popping up all over including in red states. But, yes, the more the better.
According to the replies there are others elsewhere… with some of them in areas that might make a difference. Unfortunately, most appear to be placed pretty haphazardly. This is not effective strategy.
"my" government (Canada) imposed tarrifs on American goods. But as a Canadian I am against tarrifs of any sort. I don't believe in crippling global trade for any reason. In fact I believe if you are against a bully's behaviours you shouldn't mimick it. :)
The problem is most in DC voted for sanity and politicians do not walk the streets. If the point is to provide attention to the reality of tariffs, these need to go up in every medium sized city and large town in Red states and purple states.
You think poor and lower middle class white voters are on vacation, flying to DC? Not saying it’s zero people, but the people who need to see this are in trailer parks, tiny towns, and have been on an airplane between zero and five times in their entire lives.
Canada here. One story on a US broadcast had a fella in Florida who laughed at the billboard saying he'd just buy American. When told 85% of fertilizers are from Canada and farmers will pay more he was flummoxed.
the ads need to go in middle America. Those of us here either know how dumb this is or are the few Republicans who either don't care or know but are too cowardly to do anything to stop them.
I imagine most people in D.C. already know this, as the area is hugely liberal. I'd say post them in deep Trump areas for the people that need them, but people might run their trucks through them and declare them terrorism.
