Early every morning (EVERY morning for the past 1,256 days), I take a seven mile walk along the San Francisco Bay. I have many crow friends. They know me. I bring them peanuts. It's fascinating to watch their interaction with me and with the wildlife, including coyotes, hawks, and ravens.

I walk from my home through downtown San Mateo out to Seal Point (sometimes Coyote Point as well) and along the Bay Trail. Tomorrow will be raining, so I don't expect I'll see my friends. They have enough sense to stay out of the inclement weather.

Well, yes, that makes sense. Nice filtered light probably also helps bring out their features, especially if they’re on the ground. I’ve been *trying* to catch those little stinkers in flight this year, whenever they happen to show up. Lack of planning might be why I’m not getting good shots, eh?

You got great pictures despite the Seattle winter “light”. I grew up in the Seattle area, but moved to Ellensburg a few years ago. The winter light here is like it is schizophrenic- some days it’s grey and gloomy and the next day is bright sunshine. Must embrace the variety!

If your camera allows you to shoot in RAW format, do so and color-correct in post processing. If not, see if your camera allows you to set the color balance before you shoot.
