You put seeds in dirt and they just like... grow and become whole plants! Sometimes you can even eat them!
Always blows my mind when I start thinking about it!
My sister had a herniated disc between C5/C6 replaced on Monday. Aside from the surgical site pain, she has none of the pain and discomfort that she experienced before surgery.
Felids are all pretty much the same. The size, scale, and details of how they operate are specific to the species & vary in adaptation, but the way they're built and how they behave is amazingly similar across species. A housecat is not so far from a tiger, at all.
Fried pork cutlet sammiches, the smell in Oregon right before a big rain (and then the smell again after), and the way a way a cat taking a nap will briefly open their eyes to watch you before falling back asleep.
Maybe?
All the stuff I thought I'd do was outdoor stuff so I'm kinda stumped. I'll think of something. But tbh I love cleaning and reorganizing and getting caught up on stuff. No irony.
I hatched a clutch of ducklings at the weekend, one looked too small to make it, but they have totally proved me wrong. 1st photo is at hatch, 2nd is from just now - 3 days later
I haven’t thought for a minute about the way your food options have exponentially improved, and that thought plus the thought of you enjoying pole class just made me so happy
What happens to me is I look at it and go, “that’s two meals,” and then I take a few bites and it’s delicious and I can’t stop and then it gets kind of messy and starts falling apart so I keep eating it to make sure it doesn’t fall apart and then why not finish these last bites?
I cut back blackberry vines that were swamping a little 6-foot-tall cedar tree, and when I snipped the last vine, I actually got to see the tree unbend and stand up straighter.
A little kid and his parents came walking by the little free library I built with a friend, and he said “I’m gonna look in the libary” and he found some gummy bears I had put there.
I take the first Thursday and Friday off March Madness off every year. It's a 20+ year tradition. This past week, we hosted friends we haven't done the weekend with in 10 years, and it was fantastic.
every night the crows together, hundreds of them fly out of my neighborhood to sleep nested together in the river bottom and every morning they return to the neighborhood, scattering hither and yon as they go about their busy days. the ceremony of it is magnificent, as is the seeing them fly
Before anyone rolls their eyes - to an AuDHD person, this is actually magnificent that I did this around the "normal lunch hour" (before 12:30PM my time)
we adore my sister's three legged puggle, like beyond words. She is 12 years old and recently was very sick, but she appears to be recovering her health & appetite and we could not be more excited
Astronomers believe that ~95% of the gold on the planet was synthesized during the merger of neutron stars, one of the most violent events in the cosmos, so powerful that it literally SHAKES SPACE with gravity waves, and we wear the remnants because they're pretty!
Mammals have exceptional hearing compared to other classes of vertebrates because evolution transformed bones that form part of the jaw structure of amphibians and reptiles into the tiny bones of the mammalian middle ear colloquially known as the hammer, anvil and stirrup.
The party last night was fabulous! Everything was great. My Mom and everyone else had a great time. And flying my daughter up was a masterful idea, my mom was so surprised. 🥰
Seed snails!
Saving space, soil, and growing great root systems.
You can't see them here yet, but the tomato seedlings just broke through the surface today.
There are herring gulls nesting on my roof (and ours is an attic flat!). They tread like they are part elephant. They poo on our windows. They scare houseguests by wailing in a way that's especially audible in the bathroom.

I know it's a natural event going back billions of years, but it's still so cool to watch happen.

I live in Texas, and we have many, many problems, but there are days the sunset stops me in my tracks and takes my breath away
She sits next to when she wants something and I dutifully press them ‘to show her how it’s done’.
Effectively, she has trained me to push the button for her. 🥹😭😂

But we can think about being a collection of seemingly randomly assorted atoms.
You’ve got flour and water and yeast and salt and there’s no way it’s going to come together into something delicious and nutritious.
But if you’ve done it right, and with enough patience, it always does.
Dredge in 3 diff bowls:
1) GF flour + cornstarch

I cooked in the air fryer for 8-10 min per side, flipping after first 8-10 min. (Time will vary depending on how thick the chicken is.)
I have never felt more alive.
