I came in Louisiana in 1991 for 3 weeks and keep a strong sorrow of this country.
The book is about how the French king decided to send women in Louisiana to have a population there, that will be able to live & grow on this land
I'm currently reading Land by @bjornlarssen.com
The Shadow Rising by Robert Jordan
To finally realize
The music of the sky
The scream of the sun
And the crawl of the snake
Limbless, perfect and absolute

I did get a #Netgalley approval for Curtis Sittenfeld's new short story collection so that is also a temptation!
Very good . History embedded in contemporary story .
You know that saying about - those who forget the past are forced to repeat it - ??
Well, here we are...
I shall be reading these three books.

I've waited until the end of 2024 to read a novel that was published in 2024. I'm about halfway through and very much enjoying it.
Dickens could really have done with a ruthless editor.
Why Patti Smith Matters - @carynrose.bsky.social

And now I'm onto The Echoes by Evie Wyld & The Reddening by Adam Neville...
5 stars
One of them dazzlingly verbose, irritatingly intellectual, so-modern-it-makes-you feel-a-million-years-old kinda texts that you want to hate but can't help like cos they're too damn good.
From a writing POV, this dude n me aren't even playing the same fuckin sport. Bastard.
Seemingly it's got new covers now, may have to do a reread marathon
I mistakenly thought this series was historical fiction, akin to Shardlake β which is brilliant but not what Iβm currently craving β so hadnβt picked it up. It was only when my friend pointed out itβs full of the supernatural that I thought Iβd try it. And Iβm so glad I did! π€©
I'm also dipping in and out the Moomin books Mary gave me for Christmas.
(and Happy New Year to both)
Planning to livechat the next in a terrible novella series I've been going through that way to friends later but I won't call that one out.
