It's time to start reminding people: LILIES ARE DEADLY FOR CATS. The leaves, the petals, the stem, even drinking a bit of vase water or licking a few grains of pollen from their fur can cause fatal kidney failure. ⚠️ https://www.fda.gov/animal-veterinary/animal-health-literacy/lovely-lilies-and-curious-cats-dangerous-combination#:~:text=The%20entire%20lily%20plant%20is,in%20less%20than%203%20days

(But not too close to the house in case of shenanigans on the part of my door-rushing black cat.)
Most other flowers? Strictly stay outdoors.
Kids have died sucking nectar from the flowers. Which sounds weird, but as a kid I did the same thing with honeysuckle flowers.
I did have a weird thing about eating wild spearmint though. Practically a rabbit as a child.
Sometimes the toxins are only present in part of the plant or are more concentrated. Oleander has a high amount of them throughout, roots, stems, leaves, flowers. Its all bad. Others might just be roots or such
Other toxic plants are listed on the ASPCA website but I imagine lilies ate the worst.

Yes, we do have a cat.
Chocolate is a big NO, as is garlic. I try not to feed any of our four, but I'm sure you know how insistent they can be.
No #Lilies 😻😻😻
Bodi says Thank you!

Rule of thumb: if it grows out of a bulb rather than a seed? Off limits in a house with cats.
I need to remind my family and relatives of this every year because they keep forgetting.
The worst part is that we also are a cat owner family with cat owner relatives...
I am VERY embarrassed at how forgetful my relatives and family members are about this.

(always double check before buying any plant or bringing any into your home, and if you handle plants try to wash your hands and clothes before touching your cat)
We have orphan daylilies that return annually, no matter what.
Recently, we saw our 🐈⬛ in the midst of the lilies.
We rushed him to the ER vet, where he spent 2 nights.
He’s okay.
We aren’t … the bill
was = to our 🏡 payment.
We put more stuff to deter growth & will do it yearly. 🙀
This misinformation actively endangers pets.
"Lily-of-the-valley contains toxins that cause the heart to beat abnormally. This abnormal heart rhythm can be life-threatening. Other signs of toxicity include vomiting, diarrhea, and weakness."
She even tells me when she wants a refresh as she mows the grasses better than a lawnmower 😂

I'll also search other deadly flowers.
Just look up the plant before purchasing. And you should be good to go. But if you’re not sure ask the people at the nursery. 🌱🐈
Yikes, didn't know it was THAT lethal. Also carnations, though my favorites, I rarely buy as they are also toxic to cats.

I wish that florists would have warnings on their sites to warn of this!

Maybe fussiness has a survival value.
No exception
keep lillies away from cats everyone
