(FFOTUS stands for “First Felon of the United States.” I think it’s the best way to refer to the incoming executive.)

damn, I can’t make it, either

If opinion polls are to be believed, around 85% of Australians thought that corruption was a problem in Aus politics in the lead up to the 2022 election (www.abc.net.au/news/2022-04...) The NACC has let us all down. Utter failure of design and execution

I've published a research paper with colleagues arguing that News Corp used reporting and commentary during the Voice referendum to advocate for and in concert with the 'No' campaign. It is an open access paper, available and summarised here 👇 Please share! independentaustralia.net/politics/pol...

Elon Musk has had a lot to say about the grooming gangs scandal. We looked at 24 hours on Musk's X timeline and found a range of false and misleading information being amplified. www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/...

Words to ponder …

I’m a Trump biographer and a Musk biographer. And I’m telling you...the latter is harder. Elon does more abominable things daily than Trump. By a lot. He’s a firehose of horror, and I’m finding it extremely hard to keep up with his malevolence. He’s truly the worst person I’ve ever written about.

He's not just an exploding car salesman and the unelected President, he's also the Surgeon General.

Suggestion for a new policy. For every $5,000 a private school in fees above 10K a year per student, their federal funding gets cut in half. If they ‘need’ aquatic centres, elaborate theatre halls etc the parents can obviously afford to pay for all their education

Elmo having an absolutely normal one. (yes this is real. I checked myself because I saw it somewhere and naturally assumed it was fake) #gofuckyourselfinthefacebutreallyveryunsurehowthatsdone

The devastation on its way is unimaginable - like nothing humanity has ever witnessed before - and everyone will wish they had been climate activists and ‘hysterics’ when they had the chance. We are in a moment of unprecedented stupidity

My 1st ever post on @Bluesky! A brief & early history of the fall of Assad. If u have 5 mins here’s my take on Assad, his use of barrel bombs, who Hayat Tahrir al-Sham are and what all this means for Iran & Russia. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oi-e...

ABC (Disney), Washington Post (Bezos), Meta (Zuckerberg), LA Times (Soon-Shiong)... all bending the knee to Trump, all obeying in advance, all sucking up to the Dictator-in-Waiting. This is (part of) how democracies die. This is the Orban, Putin, Netanyahu and Modi playbooks.

In case you forgot, the newly announced Chairman of Trump's Intelligence Advisory Board remains embroiled in civil litigation against his fictional cow.

This is Trawsfynydd ☢️ Power Station in Gwynedd, Wales It commissioned in 1965 & operated for 26 years until 1991 It took 6 years, until 1997, to remove the spent ☢️ fuel rods Demolition was to be between 2020-26. But because the site is still so radioactive it’s not expected to complete until 2083

US foreign policy demands a secular and peaceful state in Syria. The obvious question is why Americans aren’t demanding the same in domestic policy.

Hey, @Time here is an idea… Just a thought, maybe a felon, and a rapist, shouldn’t be the #PersonOfTheYear.

Without even reading the article I could have told you the boy police traumatized and treated as a criminal here was Black. And so he is.

Speaking of nuclear power - I saw the Satsop Nuclear Power Plant while in Washington state. With massive cost overruns, it was mothballed in 1983 before it produced any electricity. This white elephant still stands because it's too expensive to pull it down.

I’m going to start writing Boiling Frog Skeets: BFS #1: It is not normal for a President to fire an FBI Director who hasn’t done anything wrong #BoilingFrogSkeets

Labor have just picked another global prison corporation to give billions more public dollars to inflict harm on migrants. The public voted the Coalition out in 2022, maybe Labor didn’t notice that, because they sure keep pushing the same cruel policies. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

A good reminder to be careful. Make sure your vaccinations are up to date - and do the usual things to be safe. #auspol

Guess this is why half a million Australians called for a Royal Commission into the dominance and influence of Murdoch…. They’ve been doing this for years. Come on Labor, how many more times are you going to get punched in the face before you stand up to the bullies?

If I were Muslim here in Australia, of Arab or Palestinian heritage, I would be feeling abandoned and ignored. The 46,000 dead in the Gaza genocide seem to have been forgotten, no longer news.

Ok so I have a website, my first one ever, and it's for my new novel Gunnawah. Special thanks to @deniseshrivell.bsky.social for her management skills and @glenschaefer.bsky.social for his IT expertise. xxxx Please let me know if you like it, or any improvements you may see. 👉🏽 gunnawah.com.au

I know - I know - very late to the party... @shotau.bsky.social party with the incredible @ronnisalt.bsky.social 34 thoughts I had while watching the Liberal Party conference theshot.net.au/uncategorize...

Australia splits with US to back UN resolution demanding end to Israel occupation of Palestinian territories

Chatting to an Aust journo 2 days ago who told me how much she's enjoying BlueSky and would love to follow people back, but she's very wary of so many people without bios or some sort of post history, avi pic or indication of who they are. If you'd like to be followed back here, it does help. 🙏🏽

Call me cynical - the polling in their high Muslim population electorates must have come in. www.abc.net.au/news/2024-12...

I should’ve pardoned my son too. I let Jebus go through all that, and for what?

The national energy marketer seems alarmed by the (wonderful, world-leading!) fact that *4 million* Australian homes and businesses have rooftop solar. It’s time for the government to help all those homes and businesses afford the batteries they need to store their cheap, clean energy.

Gosh, I had no idea Rudy still has a law license.

How to cope with an increasingly turbulent world? Currently, I'm cuddling with Mabel & avoiding reality entirely.

this is a metaphor for something… just not sure what…

We want Bluesky to be a great home for journalists, publishers, and creators. Unlike other platforms, we don't de-promote your links. Post all the links you want — Bluesky is a lobby to the open web.

I’m thankful for Bluesky.

I didn’t have super high hopes for Albanese but I never ever expected him to be such a weapons grade pissant
