There's a kind of QHive account on here that feels free to bitterly denounce say pro Palestine protests but regardless any pushback against DEI etc from the left as evidence of "white populism". Pure ethno-narcissism all the way down.

The problem is, we simply don't have any electoral proof that women or people of color perform worse at virtually any elected American office that isn't the presidency, and for the presidency there's no way to draw good conclusions from a sample size of two.

My prediction is that once the boomers are finally out of power, Gen X is going to hold onto it for dear life and do an even worse job than the boomers

Trumpist Manchuria (Alberta)

It's weird seeing people (rightfully) criticizing that take about how eating out should be cheaper than cooking agree with this. Ultra processed foods aren't cheaper than beans or frozen vegetables in terms of meeting your caloric needs. They are cheap *vices*.

Sanders losing black voters in South Carolina had very little to do with his stances on immigration. He didn't do well with them when he ran on abolishing ICE in 2020!

Costco cafeteria social democracy

waiting another day before I unleash my nuclear "individual home food preperation is bourgeois nonsense, under actual socialism we will all eat together in ultra-efficient industrial cafeterias" take

Why do my interests/education keep bevoming relevant, it sucks

How does that have anything to do with Bernie losing in 2016 not having anything to do with opposing open borders? He lost because he was sort of coming out of nowhere against a fairly dominant candidate.

Your IQ is sub-90 if you think this btw. What is Trump's view on Medicaid cuts?

I like how there's like one degree of separation from the "Bernie is RACIST" comments to "errm...the billionaires are the real victims of Bernie's demogoguery" comments on here.

That's not how the Sanders campaign "derailed" itself in 2016-Sanders would have done worse in the 2016 primaries had it adopted its 2020 campaign's stance on immigration.

Mangione has 20% approval, single payer support is probably like 30-35% realistically speaking. I think it's only true if you count everyone who doesn't find the victim particularly sympathetic.

One of hot takes re S Korea is that the left has become more anti Japanese to make up for weakening anti American sentiment compared to 20 years ago.

Yoon just gave a long speech justifying his declaration of martial law. Restated his claim that the opposition party is an anti-state force. Chinese spies. Drugs ruining the country. Pro-North Korea. Election commission hacked. It was like listening to far-right YouTube.

I suppose this is the most important part of the speech. Yoon will not resign. He thinks he did nothing wrong. They will have to impeach him to get him out. And because of this stance I don’t see how he survives the next impeachment vote. m-en.yna.co.kr/view/AEN2024...

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on Thursday angrily defended his shock decision to declare martial law last week and signaled he would not resign from office, as a second effort to impeach him gathers momentum. Our latest from Seoul: www.washingtonpost.com/world/2024/1...

um what’re we doin here

Kim Ye-ji, one of the three PPP lawmakers to vote on impeachment last Saturday publicly stated she voted for impeachment. Unlike Ahn Chul-soo, she left the Assembly and came back to vote in favor. Took courage to break from the party line m.yna.co.kr/view/AKR2024...

The Syrian opposition rn

"the shooter was Italianx Mishima and wanted to revitalize Japan despite being the whitest man known to existence. he was also railing against the woke mind virus and hates vaccines"

who will take on the threat of weird american alt-centrism extremism

Musk and Ramaswamy have already identified $516B dollars in government savings — it includes cutting all of Veteran’s Affairs health care, eliminating the NIH, and ending funding for federal prisons. @morningjoe-msnbc.bsky.social

Entire South Korean Cabinet has resigned after all of Yoon's senior aides resigned earlier in the day. Yoon is almost completely alone now. Seems increasingly likely the pressure to resign may overcome him. www.chosun.com/politics/pol...

Reports now saying Yoon did, as law requires, have a Cabinet meeting before declaring martial law last night. But a majority of his ministers who attended opposed the declaration. But according to law this wasn’t enough to stop it. www.joongang.co.kr/article/2529...

So here’s my morning after immediate analysis of why Yoon Suk Yeol’s self coup of December 3-4, 2024 failed. I’ll try to highlight 5 things, but they are not mutually exclusive. 1/

I'm at the National Assembly building. The army is here. And I just saw two soldiers in fatigues getting pushed around by belligerent ajusshis. and they looked legit scared.

I saw this immediately upon waking up

This is absolutely not the news I would have dreamed of waking up to. South Korea's Yoon declares emergency martial law. to I have some scattered thoughts to follow. m-en.yna.co.kr/view/AEN2024...

"Um...he's racist cause he just is"

This is pretty clearly kayfabe to basically challenge Trump to live up to his rhetoric. A show of good faith before letting Trump fall is actually a good idea when he won a plurality in the popular vote.
