Trump outsourced 200,000 factory jobs in his first term alone. “I believed it. I thought he was going to save some jobs. He pulled the wool right over our eyes and he’s still doing it till this day,” said a worker whose job was sent to Mexico. www.currentaffairs.org/news/maga-le...

A tale of two Gen Z congressional candidacies: — First-time candidate Kat Abughazaleh with a detailed policy page on Day One — Second-time candidate Isaiah Martin, who announced last week, with no policies on his website:

I wrote about my deep disagreement with a lot of the reactions I’ve seen to the Bernie/AOC rallies and how they betray a sort of nihilism that is antithetical to revolutionary politics and ignores the dialectic at play in the current situation. Link in next tweet:

weird job for the senate democratic leader, i think the job is to lead democrats not to lobby for a racial garrison state

there is an organization whose job it is to keep the American left pro-Israel. it is not the US Senate. the loyalties of that organization are to Israel. i do not know why a legislator would say this. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/18/o...

The Brooklyn #teslatakedown protest in Gowanus is at least twice the size it was two weeks ago

FBI hard at work

The New York Times has legitimately one of the biggest scandals in American history on its front page right now and they’re treating it with the curiosity you’d devote to a business merger. Oh it’s interesting, it raises some questions but it could be totally legit.

This is horrifying! Family members of some of the people sent to do hard labor in a Salvadoran prison by Trump confirm their loved ones weren't members of a gang. One woman said her brother got a tattoo of a rose in Dallas, and because of that they accused him of being a gang member.

“If he broke the law, he should be deported.” Chuck Schumer is just a Nazi.

1 more stage of constitutional crisis. Either the military refuses an order, or the military is completely under their control with no oversight or limits.

going to start putting these up in areas with higher percentages of teslas

TPM’s reporting about Peters was more accurate than his office’s statements to constituent callers, just to get a sense of how much Dems are outright at war with their own voters right now

NEW: Mahmoud Khalil is being prosecuted under legislation originally aimed at communists. Jewish groups tried to stop it in the 1950s, but the right smeared liberals with accusations of sympathy for communists and the liberals predictably folded. www.carlbeijer.com/p/khalil-cha...

Columbia announced mass suspensions, expulsions, and degree revocations the same day it received a letter from the Trump administration telling them to do just that if they wanted to keep getting funding

A broad array of people in major institutions let their disdain for trans people, activists, & youth in general turn their brains into custard over the last decade. They were warned their grievances would be used to destroy the institutions they were putatively trying to defend. They didn't listen.

We had to collect 180K signatures to put proposition A on the ballot to increase minimum wage to $13.75 and guarantee sick pay for Missourians. The measure won. Just now, the Missouri House voted to overturn our will. Without signatures…with a vote. They do the bidding of the wealthy.

No it won't.

An estimated $50 billion is stolen from American workers every year by corporate bosses.

Today EPA chief Lee Zeldin announced that the agency is rolling back 31 regulations. He's taking aim at mercury, soot, and toxic pollution restrictions, and federal protection of wetlands. The EPA will also rewrite rules limiting pollution from fossil-fuel plants and cars, and more.

For the Daily Beast, I wrote about the recent viral video featuring liberal commentator Sam Seder vs. 20 conservatives. www.thedailybeast.com/the-viral-de...

🚨 Everyone needs to call their Dem Senator right now. They are starting to cave. Tell them: 1. Vote NO on Cloture AND 2. Vote NO on the Republican spending bill. Don’t let them pivot to reconciliation. GOP doesn’t need Dem votes on that and they know it. TODAY is the showdown. 🤳🏽: (202) 224-3121

“The Great Gatsby is dated and irrelevant.” You’re right. What could a novel about a generation of young men becoming hustlers and white nationalists because they were sold a lie about the American Dream possibly have to say about our current moment?

turns out when you legitimate a taste for bigotry people gravitate to the parties that serve it as an entree rather than as a garnish

Mahmoud Khalil’s family is raising funds for his legal defense and to support his wife who is 8 months pregnant. Please consider giving whatever you can - every contribution will go a long way in helping bring Mahmoud home. Please donate and share:

Mahmoud's wife recounts ICE following them into their building as they returned from an Iftar dinner. She refused to leave Mahmoud. Officers threatened to arrest her too. The officers barricaded Mahmoud from her. They didn't show a warrant. They hung up the phone on their lawyer.

Gavin Newsom filmed himself stomping on unhoused people's tents he may as well podcast with Nick Fuentes

Yet another example of how Trump has broken from Republican orthodoxy. We've moved from a party that tries to destroy Social Security to a party that hires the richest man in the world to destroy Social Security.

I'm in @msnbc today, writing about (i) Mahmoud Khalil's arrest as a shocking new frontier in Trumpist authoritarianism and (ii) the decades of bipartisan fuckery that got us to this point, from Bush's response to 9/11 through Obama's extra-judicial execution of Anwar al-Alwaki to the present day.

Free Mahmoud Khalil.

Actually this is incorrect. The left's major concerns - money in politics, the affordability of healthcare, the cost of living, poverty, and so on - are widely shared by voters. We should continue to use this moment to persuade even more people to fight for the left political agenda.

If you're a bright high school kid considering Columbia or the parent of one, I would suggest a rethink.

SCOOP—Emails obtained by @zeteo.com show Mahmoud Khalil reached out for help from the Columbia administration *one day before* ICE detained him. He said he couldn't sleep from threats he was receiving. He even wrote that he feared ICE "might come to my home."

HHS Secretary RFK Jr. tried to get in on the campus protest crackdown, deeming antisemitism a threat to public health "comparable to history's most deadly plagues" www.kenklippenstein.com/p/trump-is-c...

The renowned actor, playwright, essayist, and screenwriter Wallace Shawn discusses his political evolution leftward, his activism on Israel-Palestine, and why that issue really isn't that complicated. www.currentaffairs.org/news/wallace...

I do think it would be nice if this was also understood as a specifically anti Palestinian act of racial discrimination in addition to violations of free speech law

The thing about this “origin story” is that it as an obvious and easily checkable lie. Prior to 2020, Rufo worked for the rightwing Discovery Institute (which invented “intelligent design”) and ran for Seattle city council on a platform of “reinstitutionalizing” the homeless.

Honestly pretty interesting how the pushback against Columbia’s fascist collaboration becomes broader once Trump got involved. The power of “orange man bad.” From my perspective we are in fundamentally the same scenario as last spring.

If you think Canada is mad about "51st state" threats now wait until they hear about the Senate.

further, at this point in 2017 democratic leadership was 20+ points above water -- the resistance broadly was not an anti establishment movement, it was an anti Trump movement mostly in coordination with democratic leadership what we're seeing now looks very different

I still have no response from Rep. Nancy Mace’s office after numerous requests for comment on Trump pressuring the Romanian government to release alleged rapist and sex trafficker Andrew Tate. Given her past outspokenness on sexual assault, I really thought she’d have something to say.

personally i think it's a great story about how this is like shooting fish in a barrel for the GOP because they keep stumbling across things like "free universal reproductive care" lying around on the ground where dems fucking abandoned them and going "don't mind if i do"

this is such a weird and funny refrain on here. i'm a trans woman with an engineering degree who draws comics do you think i am not on the spectrum lol

I wrote for @defector.bsky.social about the NIH cuts, the war on higher ed, and what it means for all of us. The takeaway: let's not just defend a failing status quo againt Trump and Musk, but follow labor in fighting for a transformed higher ed landscape. defector.com/the-nih-cuts...
