"The Man from Moscow": Trump on the cover of French Le Point

What’s clear at this point is that the Trump strategy on Ukraine is to only place pressure on Zelensky, not Putin. The moves we’ve seen have been to give Russia everything it wants, and Ukraine nothing. It’s a complete reversal of the American position from only 6 weeks ago.

The House of Commons showing right now that British politics, on certain fundamentals, is in a far healthier place than in the US. No polarisation, on this at least a commonly accepted set of realities and truth, and near unanimity against tyrants and for freedom.

Day 96. It’s Mother’s Day in Georgia. So the mothers of regime prisoners hold a protest march. #GeorgiaProtests

words I never imagined writing in my lifetime..... General Sir Richard Shirreff, the former Nato deputy supreme allied commander in Europe, has told Times Radio: "I think we have to assume, after the events of the last 10 days, that we cannot in any way count on America as an ally"

The idea that President Zelenskyy should apologise for his behaviour in the Oval Office is so unbelievably twisted, it’s like telling an assault victim that if they say something nice to their assailant it won’t happen again. We really cannot normalise this narrative.

While Trump cuts Ukraine funding, Orban is effectively vetoing European efforts to make up for it. Trump acts as Putin's puppet in the White House. Orban acts as his puppet within the EU. www.politico.eu/newsletter/b...

The total cut off of deliveries to Ukraine is shockingly punitive. This is money already spent, equipment already built by industry for Ukraine, much of it has little utility to the US military. And it is just going to be sitting there in warehouses idle, as Ukrainian forces fight on.

New York Times reminds us about the last time Trump managed to halt US military aid to Ukraine www.nytimes.com/2025/03/03/u...

🚨 Just in: Ursula von der Leyen unveils the "Rearm Europe Plan" to mobilise up to €800 billion in defence investment across the bloc. "We're living in the most momentum and dangerous of times," she says. "We are in an era of rearmament." "This is the moment for Europe. We're ready to step up."

Being able to drop a quarterly US GDP prediction by 5.1% from +2.3% to -2.8% in a single week is one of the most impressive economic developments in the history of the world.

British troops have fought and died alongside the Americans in Afghanistan and Iraq, just to be written off as non-existent people from "some random country". We have to maintain tolerable relations with this administration to try and minimise damage, but my god it's not easy.

It's GETTING REAL. EU President Ursula von der Leyen announces new debt rules to enable EU countries to borrow up to 650 billion EUROS to fund defence spending in the next four years. Combined with EU-backed loans, the continent could raise defence spending to 800 BILLION. latika.me/4hTWW4h

Russian hackers infiltrate our system *every* day. They are constantly looking for persistence (long term access) in our critical infrastructure. If Hegseth thinks that they’re going to stop just because we do, he’s even more out of his depth than I thought.

Being a fan of authoritarianism is so embarrassing. I'm a little baby who loves being told what to do. Grow up!

Musk worming his way into the government isn't just about enriching himself, it's about having power long after Trump is gone. Doesn't matter who's in office if he can turn off vital services on a whim

I voted for Trump because he said he would blow up the economy for no reason but I didn't think he'd actually do it

Director: You get that guy falling off the building shot figured out? Effects lead: Sure did boss, real long arms just like you asked. Director: what

My favourite episode is the one where Poirot gets a shoulder-mounted cannon.

old Soviet joke for our times: Guy stops by the newsstand every day, scans the front page, doesn’t buy the paper. One day the vendor asks what he’s up to. Guy says: “looking for an obituary.” Vendor says “those are towards the back of the paper, comrade.” Guy says: “not the one I’m looking for.”

Ridiculous that in 97 years they’ve never given an Academy Award to the single most important person on every film: whoever takes the lens cap off

This is incredible to witness. Sen. Glenn Grothman checks his notes, so he obviously planned to say these things —yet delivers a masterclass in being completely out of touch. This is exactly what people mean when they say their representatives don’t get it. Cringe!

🇪🇺 Ursula von der Leyen presented a plan to strengthen Europe's defense: 🔹Create an instrument that will allow EU countries to significantly speed up and increase military aid to Ukraine; 🔹Increase defense spending in EU countries by 1.5%;

Freeland: "If these tariffs are put in place, it is going to hurt Americans ... your grocery prices are gonna go up, bc you know what you need to grow food in the US? You need fertilizer. 80% of it comes from Canada and you're gonna be a 25% tax on it? ... the WSJ is right. This is dumb."

The most important Oscar of the night #Oscars2025

Today, in a meeting at the White House, the only person actually defending American interests was Zelenskyy. Let that sink in.

Your dignity honors the bravery of the Ukrainian people. Be strong, be brave, be fearless. You are never alone, dear President Zelenskyy. We will continue working with you for a just and lasting peace.

So - I've actually led Ebola outbreak response at USAID. This is bunk from Elon. They have laid off most of the experts, they're bankrupting most of the partner orgs, have withdrawn from WHO, and muzzled CDC. What's left is a fig-leaf effort to cover their asses politically.

USAID cuts could prompt over 500,000 HIV deaths www.dw.com/en/south-afr...

It took seeing adult bullies to understand that my childhood bullies didn’t even really want to hurt me, they just wanted to feel powerful and how I felt about it wasn’t even in the equation. I can’t imagine someone not outgrowing that, but apparently it happens quite a lot!

Worth noting that when the war started Zelensky’s English was very shaky and he’s clearly spent a ton of time improving it for exactly this purpose.

If Andrew Windsor is invited to the State Banquet, him & Trump could reminisce about their mutual bestie, Jeffrey Epstein.

Whenever they reach an egregious new low, I've taken to wondering where all these hideous grifters beloved of right-wing media might go next. I don't recommend it.

All these people breaking cover on believing that only white people can be English are the ones that raged about ‘political correctness’ & ‘wokeness’ without ever being able to explain what it was. I’ve been dealing with them & their cowardly bigotries for years.

A timely moment to remember that Donald Trump dodged the draft & JD Vance wondered a few short years ago whether he would turn out to be 'America's Hitler'...

I think this is the closest many of us have ever got to seeing the real Trump. The only consistent thread in his entire unhinged rant was the love & praise for Vladimir Putin. Zelensky has more courage & dignity in his little finger than every member of Trump's regime & fan club combined.

Praise for the war criminal, a punishment beating for Zelensky.

He is not just appeasing Putin, he is aligned with him. And every single client journalist, political shill & public/online cheerleader on both sides of the Atlantic is too. Against Zelensky. Against Ukraine. Against freedom. Against the most basic tenets of decency.
