And as @thetweedmeister.bsky.social says, cut down the final confrontation to a lone vampire scout and you might just get out alive... Hope you have fun with it!

@richgreen01.bsky.social I'd say that you probably need Samira Begum to stand a chance in a combat (and even then...) and one of Marshall or Munroe for the Investigation parts. Wallace can be useful, and doubles as a legit bad ass, but is the least essential when it comes to the final act.

They would need to, for once, sever the show from the Skywalker Saga. No skywalkers, no Yoda, no Vader, no Boba Fett, no Tattooine - nothing. I mean, personally, I would weep if they did a show about a New Republic cruiser tasked to explore beyond the Outer Rim, for around say, 5 years...

Or it is a taunting mechanism for people who seem incapable of finding that cursed tome for anything less than the deposit on a small house

If the idea is that games producers add say, a free downloadable PDF with multiple examples of PCs, with variations for gender, background, artwork etc. to allow people to pick-up and play, then fantastic. Great, almost certainly evergreen resource, which can be updated. Just not in the rulebook

Whats the difference, on the sheet, between a D&D fighter and a barbarian? A slight variation of numbers (HP, AC, HD) and some different words in abilities. That doesn't provide a guide on how to effectively play the character or class, nor does it give any insight into the process of getting there.

I say this often, but I know that Novocastria, my sourcebook about north east England, is next on the art block for Liminal after F&F and I am buzzing to see what Jason can do with it!

Example of infantalisation of gamers? How can we POSSIBLY create a character without a worked example? Oh I dunno, we managed it for literally decades perfectly well. Even when we had never played before - the idea that new players are idiots but old gamers weren't vexes disproportionately!

I'm a man of my age, living in the North East. It needs to get at least 2c warmer before that kit comes out for the summer, surely?

Masterclass in this at the weekend where @burnafterrunning.bsky.social had us all playing Slugblaster in minutes of starting, and the rules locked in about five minutes later. He altered the pattern of play to start near the end of a run and thus see all of the bits in motion. Inspired.

41 followers so far is simply mindblowing. I'll be putting the final touches to the campaign (I mean, 'campaign' is doing a lot of heavy lifting as its only going to be two weeks) this week and then it'll erupt early March.

Oooh I picked up a slack handful of these in a charity shop in South Shields. They're on my TBR pile

Sounds like my train journey to Sheffield tbh

Had to explain to someone yesterday that A0 isn't just a little bigger than A4...

I could write a book on the horror stories I have had presented to me when people confront the idea of either being in a leadership role in RPGs or having someone who outranks them.

Ooooh that's something to read on the train today!

How ironic that the Rest Is Entertainment podcast was talking about what great work Broccoli and Michaels were doing in resisting Amazon and their monetisation process, with the potential for an infinite number of side character spin offs. Three days later....

(LT) Jack/Jill reinforces a gender binary & their trials to get water underpins the stranglehold of Big H2O on the supply, especially expecting 2 people to survive on 1 pail. Where are the H&S measures and was Jill forced to tumble due to hard wired expectations of them to follow the actions of men?
comment in response to post
(RT) including Jill is an inefficient DEI hire, and did they pay for the water or are they scrounging from tax payers water. Jack falling shows the risks society puts men under, and Jill tumbling shows the innate fragility of women. She should never have been there in the first place?
comment in response to post
Sadly I think you could write just about anything nowadays and it be radically interpreted in many ways. Jack and Jill, went up the hill To fetch a pail of water Jack fell down and broke his crown And Jill came tumbling after

Travel? I have them four systems within a sector to work around. Each one a specific biome with it's own challenges. Worked a treat. Some were friendly, some were First Order and others were contested. Game set on the Outer Rim.

But the garrison on Charon XI is Tier II, backwater stormtroopers. The sub aqua assassin squadron on that water world? Tier III. The same with Cartels and Bounty Hunters too. Just split them into smaller gangs or operators and scale them appropriately...

I too have played and ran S&V as SW. Here's what we did. Attune? Have a very adult chat with the players about Jedi, their presence and how that manifests. No justification in the characters fiction? No points in Attune. Tiers? Break the factions down. So The Empire might be a Tier VI faction...

A sadly passed colleague from the CCG days had one red line when it came to interactions about other CCG products, during promotion events. You NEVER slag off another game or company. Purely unprofessional and always casts a bad light on your game/company. Its an idea I have held close for years

That's the start and the finish right?

The tribal 'footballification' of one tiny sliver of our psychology infuriates me. On the other foot, the glorification of extroversion means hyper-extroverts like me can almost be villainised. Over lockdown, the 'triumph of the introvery' ignored the reality of 'our' loneliness and isolation.

I'm just about to sit down with Candela Obscura, a game that fell so quickly from the Hype Ladder I forgot I owned it!

I remember reading somewhere that they were going to film S1 and S2 back-to-back because of this, and do similarly in subsequent filmings

Throwing a stone into a lake. Ok, I had so cackhande I somehow managed to miss the lake and after a couple of bounces hit the roof of a teachers car as it drove by. I escaped serious trouble by the other teachers vouching that I was so angelic I was just shit at throwing and not filled with malice 😇

...expect all wrestling companies just to keep everyone employed forever, building huge vestigial rosters out of sentiment. 'of course the Gymini are still employed, as is Enzo Amore and Zack Gowan, we just couldn't let them go...' 😏

Now I'm a lot less active (and it's KILLING ME) and selective. I know I gave a few more epic campaigns in the tank. So I have to be spread them and not waste effort lest I lose all my will to play. I feel like a changeling on the edge of banality, which is kind of apt really...😐

For the longest time I was *the go to guy*. Run a game? Group kicked into life? Slot filled? Event organised? Sounding board? Project managed? No task too big for my bottomless well of time management. Then I realised I was serving a rescuer/hero personality and had to pull back, for my sanity.

There's also a place for leaning into the process when it comes to editing. Just as you enter playtesting by giving the testers solid parameters to work within and reserve the right to reject their recommendations, you need to enter into an editor partnership in good faith, or you'll just feel pain

I think its a teacher thing. I remember that feeling of having to be right, 100% of the time - and then someone coming in and telling you that you were wrong, because of an external wrinkle - to be soul crushing. Now, I do work where I am almost always having things edited and changed. No worries
