OMG!! Have you been in a coma for 50 years?
Paul McCartney and the Wings was HUGELY successful!
John Lennon had just finished the Double Fantasy album when he was gunned down
George Harrison also had a successful solo career, starting with My Sweet Lord and ending with The Traveling Wilburys and Ringo Starr had a solo singing career, voice career, but flopped as an actor
(I was in a focus group for that film….it was pretty bad 😂)
You are sadly mistaken. Paul McCartney and George Harrison had fabulous post-Beatles careers. John did OK until he was murdered. Ringo is still appearing with large audiences.
In NSW Australia? There's a really good Chinese one, although that was about 10 years ago or more. Time flies when you're sitting aggressively staring at the wall.
He's also a grown man who eats fruit by the foot and gushers so this is really more just me fucking with the dude who doesn't know he's being punked than an actual reliable culinary opinion
You need to remember that much of what the Beatles did wasn't documented. They were a pretty obscure band. Only those of us who dig retro British music have really paid attention, otherwise they'd have been forgotten years ago.
In our current world, it is getting pretty hard to tell the difference between people saying stupid things deliberately to get a reaction and people saying stupid things because they genuinely believe them. It's hard to satirise a world as deranged as the one we find ourselves living in
Relation to Richard Butler from Psychedelic Furs? Because Sister Europe was your best single, & that was early in the piece. That mid 80s pivot to corporate rock was very ill suited to your musical ethos, and I'm sorry it worked out that way, although I like your Martin Gore DM cowrites recently.
Wow, you have access to the internet and you didn't use it to check who Gail was and what she does first, and respond that way publicly? Try Gailopedia for the basics.
OK, so I got caught by a fishing exercise, but you can never underestimate people on the internet, there are still about 47% of people in the US who think Trump is doing a good job.
I was going to say. phiser implies Gail wants to steal things. all Gail wants is your laughs...and your heart. hearts keep her young and vital afterall
But didn’t one of them starr in the critically acclaimed movie ‘Caveman’? I mean, it had a claymation T-rex getting whacked in the gonads with a cane. That’s an academy material right there!
I just saw an interview with Ringo and he’s still making music. Just transitioned to country. And Paul lays low sometimes or does some tours with Ringo. Also kinda hard to have any success again when 2 of your members are dead…
Imagine was written before the first Beatles album. It doesn't count. The only thing George Harrison did of value was Indiana Jones. I don't think McCartney ever recorded a "solo" album. He always needed other instrumentalists because he has quite a limited ability.
What are you talking about???? Each of them recorded a different cover of "Billy, Don't Be A Hero" and they filled four of the Top 10 Billboard slots for that week.
Yeah, it's hard to Imagine. And Maybe I'm Amazed, that it didn't happen. But, you know, All Things Must Pass. Looking back, all I have is a Photograph.
Obviously have issues identifying success. George kicked it with Monty Python and all the (living) were on the Simpsons. Don’t get more successful than that 🤷♂️ https://youtu.be/8Ac34Khe-fc
George Harrison's "Got My Mind Set on You" ended up as the No. 1 single in the US, reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart on January 16, 1988. This achievement made Harrison the last Beatle to have a No. 1 single in the US.
I agree they did have some successes but what they did together was staggeringly wonderful - it evolved pretty well too! And I appreciate it all the more now than I did then
Ringo was the only one who wasn't mindbendingly successful...
Even George has a string of brilliant albums and a collab called The Travelling Willberrys
I like how Band on the Run has a few distinct parts linked together. Good vocals. Good tempos. Good transitions.
I think "objectively" is a bit harsh, but as sarcasm, it's fair play.
Paul McCartney is still known as a top song writer, Ringo received enough fanmail that he made a video asking his fans to stop, I don't really know what George went on to do, and John got shot.
well if you call success being a multi-millionaire they did okay. musically? IMO the songwriting team of Lennon and McCartney plus the production of George Martin has never been beaten by anyone else, with the possible exception of Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones.
John,Paul, and George didn't have great careers. I think Paul ended up doing airport lounge gigs, but Ringo, Ringo was a huge success. His stadium tours were phenomenal.
It depends how you define success. They all had further careers; John Lennon’s life was cut short, and George Harrison did not live to old age but may not have craved the early adulation. Ringo Starr did children’s TV and Paul McCartney, by all measures, continued as a successful musician.
i dunno gail, yoko ono, the actual talent and driving force behind the beatles went on to be beloved and revered worldwide? i mean, im sorry you dont know this 🤭
I sense you bait-posted this knowing that you’ll get huge reaction.
- Thomas the Tank
- Hammer House of Horrors
- Travelling Wilburys
- Wings
- Imagine
- Ebony & Ivory
And so on…
My favorite was when one of the young musicians was teamed with Paul on an awards show, and people on social media were saying “ZOMG, it is So Nice of him to give that McCartney guy a start in the industry!!”
I loved the wings. This isn’t a preference question.
How often are the wings brought up when the greatest bands ever are discussed? I don’t recall hearing them mentioned in those conversations, while the Beatles almost always are.
While they didn’t say “they same level of success”, I interpreted that way because it’s obvious to most people they had some success. Even Ringo had hit songs.
Also, Wings weren’t as successful as the Beatles. Not in popularity, not in critical acclaim, not in long term popularity, and the songs weren’t as good (that’s my personal opinion).
In my life I've heard "did you know Paul McCartney and as in a band before the wings?", "Paul McCartney only partnered with Michael Jackson to make a name for himself", and "who is that old white lady with Kanye".
Paul will try anything hoping to kickstart a comeback.
Ahem. Well. You see Mr Starr narrated Thomas The Tank Engine. You cannot possibly get more famous than that! Every Thomas fan and Thomas fans friends and family know that voice!
if I was even a little more tech savvy I would find you an even worse song by a group named Barnes & Barnes called fish heads look it up if you don't know it
I would ride a bus in and out of an oil refinery for years sometimes it would be very quiet on the bus people sleepy when I would get bored I would just pop this song out of my cell phone
I'm not gonna lie, I listen to 100 Gecs and The Butthole Surfers regularly, so while I don't like it, I at least understand this one; It's offputting on purpose, which I guess makes it...work?
“Any success”…… ???
There is global success and success.
Very few get Global and their timing was perfect for the 60’s unrest!
I wish there was a sarcasm emoji so i can tell who is ….just messin or serious. 😄 👍🏼

It obvious you don’t know who you’re talking to.
👏 👏 👏
McCartney's first solo album is also a gem.
Every heard of the song "Imagine"? Yep, after the break up.
So, What do you mean?
When online jokes, puns, or sarcasm needs to be explained, they're not "jokes," they're trolls.
Nobody likes a troll.
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
C'mon - you can google this stuff!
They don't even look like monkeys.
You're either goofing or clueless
You're thinking of The Band.
See what I did there? 😉
This post is going to bait

A score of hits.
John Lennon’s “Imagine”?
George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord”?

Even George has a string of brilliant albums and a collab called The Travelling Willberrys
Before or afterwards. 🤷🏽
Yes, that includes "Band on the Run." That song is both objectively and subjectively terrible.
I think "objectively" is a bit harsh, but as sarcasm, it's fair play.
I mean, I only said it because I knew it would provoke a big ol' response.
I guess that technically makes it trolling. But, again, it's intended as *gentle* trolling.
😂
I would have thought that was obvious.
If you really hold me to it, I'll admit that pretty much excuses all the annoying shit the Beatles ever did.
I don't really know much about the Beatles

Don't know about the other guys

- Travelling Wilburys
- Wings
- Imagine
- Ebony & Ivory
And so on…

I wouldn’t exactly call Wings a failure
I wouldn’t call a solo Paul McCartney a failure
John Lennon found success with Yoko before he was murdered
.......yes thats why i named my OC that........shut up.
Also, Wings weren’t as successful as the Beatles. Not in popularity, not in critical acclaim, not in long term popularity, and the songs weren’t as good (that’s my personal opinion).
hit singles and the Band on the Run album would be considered a classic even if he wasn’t a Beatle
I enjoyed The Tick cartoon
The beatle is Arthur. 🙄
Paul will try anything hoping to kickstart a comeback.

It's just like asking "what ever happened to the Left Shark from Katy Perry's superbowl song? Why didn't he have a solo career?"
Granted, that's a smaller meme than the Beatles. But they WERE a meme, nonetheless.
