A few years ago I was making small talk with students before class and I asked the dude in the Carolina hoodie what his connection was to UNC, and he said “None, I just liked the hoodie,” which, you know, tracks.
I “yada yada yada” in a blue book once and the prof legit wrote “I’ll allow it- but don’t do this in any other class” because he knew I knew what I was talking about (Irish History)
I had a small bit of extra credit this semester if my students could answer a football question about the Kansas City Chiefs I mentioned in a video, to see if anyone was paying attention.
One student replied, got the answer correct, and said, "Go 49ers!!"
A friend of mine was Carolina undergrad, and Duke for grad school. At her grad school graduation, she unzipped her gown to reveal a fighting ram t-shirt. Her thesis advisor looked at her and said, "Ma'am, you arrived tacky, and now you're leaving tacky."
"Great, hard-working student. Unfortunately, cannot recommend as she is a Denver Broncos fan and must suffer from some sort of delusion or learning impairment." LOL
I once answered a final exam question, which called for an evaluation of a complex (but very wrong) argument about economics, with a single word: "Hogwash"
I got an A. I believe that was also based on respect for moxie.

Just like Coach K losses.
The class starts to feel sorry for him.
Me (a sports nerd): Didn't Baltimore win the '70 World Series and the Super Bowl 3 months later?
I got exempt from the final.
