With the exception of Vit D in winter
A cup or two a day is more than sufficient.
It's really important for people to understand that supplements need checking for dosage AND possible interactions with other medications.
Getting your GP to ok this may be something of a struggle, however.

Have stopped the multivitamins. Will see if it makes a difference. I sense it will.
(i developed nerve pains after being vegan 10years).
Read article in guardian about this a week ago. Currently having blood test to measure my B6 levels. Had been taking Exec B 2 day for years.
Have stopped taking currently until test comes back.
The supplement/herbal 'remedy' industry needs regulation NOW!

Just checked my multivitamin & calcium w/B12 & Iβm at 43k of B12!! Switching them. Hope I get better!
After a long while of persuasive challenges I asked this person to have blood work done to check their baseline. Result toxic overdosing.
Take what you need only!
Having said that, I was unknowingly taking too much Vitamin D from calcium and other supplements. Had my annual blood test and doc said my Vit D was too high.
I was taking 20x normal daily amount. π€―
But starting taking vit D recently I think itβs improved how I feel otherwise.
Partner & I donβt take any vit supps. Get B12 from fortified nutritional yeast. My partner takes omega oil from algae, also chlorella. But these arenβt part of a multi-vit tablet.
Interestingly, our dogβs diet has informed our own: https://bsky.app/profile/mickeymoosenhauer.bsky.social/post/3lbbliwj7gk2u
You can purchase just B-12 if you want, but if you want B-complex, this is what you get.

Long term low dose vitamin D is very unlikely to cause kidney stones.
Most people only need 800 units per day.
Some people may need a higher dose but if you're worried about overdosing, then just take 800 units daily.
Husband used to down Berocca like it was soft drink.
Pointed out that article and he's now actually checking. He had assumed that any excess was just peed away and didn't cause any damage, just glowing yellow pee.
Seems to do the trick.

Same tactics as tobacco
A Finnish health shop owner once told me many are worse for you - from their composition - than help you.
So it's also a question of finding good quality ones.
To avoid sounding spammy, I won't mention names, but research them :)
I'll check my supplements straight away!
In general, β€50yrs β 1.3mg/day; >50yrs β 1.5mg/day for women & 1.7mg/day for men.

I only supplement vitamin C (with a bit of zinc) and D(3). It's an absolute pita to find stuff that's NOT crazily overdosed. It's kinda ok for vit. C but not so much for almost anything else.
However, NHS, of which Iβm a strong supporter, is uneducated on PA/B12d and provides less than optimum treatment
I suspect itβs more saving money by providing a cost effective treatment that works for most than lack of education.
B12 is the only one that is hard to get in a veggie diet.
B vitamin's are water soluble so you pee it out, the body can't store it. OTHER articles Peripheral neuropathy has been reported following chronic high-dose (>100mg/day) consumption of vitamin B6. Healthcare professionals may ..
Apart from B12 all others vitamins are easily obtained in the diet anyway unless blood work suggests otherwise like say Iron, so administered under a doctor.
I can't take Vitamin C because my bladder issues get bad. I took a high dose Vit C one winter, thinking it was safe. My kidneys & bladder were not happy.
The way it's produced affects people with mast cell issues.
Vit D is another one to avoid.
Use Marmite instead https://www.marmite.co.uk/faq.html#:~:text=How%20much%20B12%20is%20there,average%20adult's%20daily%20reference%20intake.
Thank you for providing this info on your own circumstances, George. And I'm very glad you found out and you're OK now.
Some such calcium are doing real damage
I question why so many products offer gross overdoses per tablet.
Beside your Vit B product, many Vit D products are also among them.
They seem to pander to the worrying notion that 'more must be better' (or better value).
The pharmacist said to my wife it's only a supplement when it wasn't in for me on prescription. Taken my illness to parliament and back looking for help..
That said, it is ridiculous when they put THAT much extra in.
Everyone has to be their own doctor to an extent, it seems.
I am just wondering why the tropics and Australia for example, aren't full of atrial fibrillation cases since white people there get so much sun and make so much Vitamin D.
This correlation needs more research.
I used to work in that field.
1. WHYYYYY so much?
2. If you take 1 pill, do you absorb it all?
3. If you take it less often, do you still get what you need?
Any time I need blood work done for my malfunctioning thyroid, I just ask for the B12 levels to be checked too.

I wish I absorbed b vitamins like y'all in these comments though π I have permanent nerve damage from vitamin b deficiencies
The exceptions are Vitamin D, Folic acid and Calcium.
Marmite is also a solution to B12 levels, and several other 'B' vitamins.
